Chapter Text

No one was created equal, Midoriya knew that from a young age. But as All Might walked past him in his shockingly skinny form, and as the boy peers over the edge of the building. He realises just how bad it was.

He thought about it too. The words that Kacchan said prior to this meeting circled his thoughts. His hands clutch his ears as he wishes it to stop. He doesn't want to jump. But what else was he good for? He looked over the edge once more and bolted down the stairs, moving as far as he could from the edge.

On the way home he heard a scream. He turned to see a woman cornered by three men. One had blood red eyes and moved unnaturally. Without thinking he jumped in, going down swinging at the three thugs as the woman ran.

As sirens blasted and the guy with blood red eyes left. As Midoriya was beaten to the ground. As black started to form in Midoriya’s vision. He thought that this… was a good day to die.

He wakes up to a blinding white light, and as his vision starts to clear he hears beeping by his bedside. Bedside? He turns to see his Mum asleep in the chair next to him. The beeping of the heart monitor attached to him calms as he sees her.

“Mum.” He sighed in relief.

“Izuku?” Her eyes crack open as she awakes with start. Jumping out the chair she rushes to her son. “Izuku! Baby! Are you ok?!”

“I’m fine.” He hugs her back.

“Well, I don’t know what you were thinking?!” Inko’s expression turns serious. “You can’t pick fights with people Izuku!”

“I had to! There was a girl, she was cornered. Is she ok?!”

His Mum nods. “Yes, she’s fine.” She pats his head. “I know you felt like you had to jump in, and what you did was very selfless. But… Next time can you at least call the police before you do something like this?”

He nods. “Yes Mum. I’m sorry.”

She pulls him into a hug again. “It’s ok. Just be safer, ok?”

“Ah, you’re awake.” A voice cuts through the moment as a doctor comes into the room. “Hello Mr Midoriya, I’m doctor Hiroshi. I’ve been looking after you throughout the day. Everything looks good, a couple bruises that will heal over time. The worst of it was your arm.” He points to his arm that was currently wrapped in bandages. “One of them got a nasty cut on your arm, though from what we can tell it’s healing nicely. Just make sure to replace the bandages and eventually you should all be healed up. We should be able to get you discharged tonight, we just want to make sure everything's good before we let you go.”

“Thank you doctor.” Inko spoke up before her son could. “Thank you for looking after my boy.”

“You’re very welcome ma’am.” He bows. “Now, we’ll start the checks in a minute. For now, if you’re up to it, a detective wants to come and get your statement about the incident. We can do this whenever you're ready, and if you are then I can go get the detective.”

“You don’t have to do this now.” Inko turns her attention to her son. “We can always wait till we get home.”

“No.” Izuku shakes his head. “I can do this now.”

“Alright, I’ll go get the detective.”

It takes a couple minutes, but the doctor comes back. Introducing the Midoroiya’s to detective Tsukauchi, who bows at the two in greeting. Taking off his tan hat he sits down in a nearby chair.

“I must let you know…” Detective Tsukauchi pulls out a recorder from his coat pocket. “That my quirk is called lie detector. It means that anything you say, I'll know whether it’s the truth or a lie. So for every response I will vocalise my quirk’s response. If you have any questions let me know, and if you’re ready I will start the recording.”

“I’m ready.” The green haired boy nods, he can hold in the quirk questions for now.

“Alright.” The detective pushes the record button on his recorder. “This is detective Tsukauchi Naomasa, recording the interview of Midoriya Izuku about the attack earlier today. Midoriya, tell me two truths and one lie to get a baseline for my quirk.”

He nods. “My name is Midoriya Izuku, I’m 14 years old, and my hair is blue.”

“True, true, false. Thank you Midoriya.” The detective takes out a notebook and pen from his coat pockets. “So, can you tell me what happened?”

He explained everything, well mostly everything. He left out the meeting he had with All Might prior to this. He also didn’t say anything about the sludge villain that All Might saved him from, it would only worry his Mom even more then she already was. So he only talked about the attack in question, but luckily the detective’s quirk didn’t detect a lie for any information you’re not telling.

“Thank you for your time.” The detective had turned off the recorder and put his hat back on. “And unofficially Midoriya, thank you for saving that woman. Have a good day you two.”

Nothing could get rid of the beaming smile on the boy's face. It didn’t take long for the doctor to come back and finish up any checks that were needed. Everything looked good and they changed Midoriya’s bandages. They said that he’d be ready to leave tonight, the doctor leaving to sort out the necessary paperwork to discharge the boy.

“While they do the paperwork.” Inko speaks up, grabbing her purse from the bedside table nearest to her. “I might go out to the shops. We need some food for tonight. How about katsudon?”

Izuku beams at her. “Yes please!”

“Alright darling.” She presses a kiss on his forehead. “I’ll be back as quick as I can.” And with that, she leaves the room.

Inko managed to get everything relatively quickly and was ready to rush back to the hospital, she didn't want to keep her baby waiting! As she rushed ahead she accidentally bumped into someone.

“Oh! I’m so sorry! Are you ok?!” She rushes over to the man.

“Green hair…” The man rumbles.

“What was that?”

“Green hair.” The man straightens himself up. “Just like him.”

He turns to the green haired woman, showing his blood red eyes. Inko screams as the man dives towards her, the shopping bags falling to the floor.
