“Fancy, Cap’n!”
“Yeah looking good!”
“Suits you well!”
The cheers Kirk was getting from his new accessory, now wrapped neatly around his neck. The most perfect gift he had given himself in a longest of whiles. The bright red, thick and woollen knit scarf now donning the Captain’s bare neck. The cold and shivers along the pain almost gone now.
“Thanks!”
Kirk told them, being rather chipper and with a new spring in his steps as he walked along the corridor of the Enterprise, feeling good and proud of his new garment for sure.
Alas, just as Kirk was about to turn the corner, whom did he spot there, walking towards him, but his best mate, Mr Spock.
And, as luck would have it, or then not, Spock, had something around his own neck, wrapped tightly there. Something soft and yes, red!
“Captain!”
Kirk simply stared at Spock, not really sure was to what to utter.
As this was the same one, down to the thread count it seemed. Even the colour was matching his.
“Jim?” Spock quirked his brow, not really sure why the Captain looked so, miffed?
Finally being roused from his thoughts, his first words he uttered to his best friend were.
“Why, Spock, why???”
“I. Um. Sorry, Captain, but I am not following your train of thought at the very moment.”
“The scarf Spock! It’s… it’s the same!”
“I heh, yes, guess, great minds think alike.”
Spock finally realising his faux-pas or rather, well, he had copied the Captain true, only thinking Kirk would be happy?
Kirk simply shook his head, palming his face in frustration. But, yeah, they were besties so.
“Is okay Spock, I can change mine.”
“Why would you do that?” Spock sounded miffed for a change.
“Well, they are the same, Spock.”
“So?”
“I…”
Guess there were simply some human idiosyncrasies that not even Spock could fathom after all, despite him claiming to be the utmost expert in human behaviour?
“Just, forget about it Spock.”
Kirk, simply walked away, deciding on dropping the matter himself. For good.
Leaving a very baffled Spock behind, the Vulcan not really knowing what had irked Kirk.
