I'm so sorry this took me so long to update, very very long story short I just went through a pretty bad breakup so updates might be a little scarce. Short chapter but hopefully I'll have a longer one for you guys in a couple days. Happy Holidays!

Chapter Text

“Potter.”

“Baby Black.” Potter smirked. He had refused to move over to my table so I was forced to go sit next to Potter.

“Amortentia. Go get the ingredients.” I say.

He nods before getting up and leaving for the potion’s cabinet. I flick through the pages of our textbook to get to the lesson about Amortentia. Slughorn must know. There’s no way he doesn’t know. Why in the world would he put Potter and I together otherwise. I’m just going to get this potion done and I’m going to ignore him.

I hear the vials being set down beside me and grab Ashwinder eggs. “Put in three of these and stir clockwise twice.” I direct.

“So.. about the party-”

“I said twice, Potter!” I exclaim after Potter hasn’t stopped stirring. I try to take the ladle from him but when my hand lands on top of his his free hand locks it in place. I swallow hard at the feeling of Potter’s breath splaying across my cheek. He stands a couple inches taller than me and has to tilt his head down to whisper in my ear. “Does this make you nervous?” He asks.

“No.” I say, proud of myself for how steady it comes out. I push his body away from me and take the ladle from him. I sigh at the yellow-ish color the water is.

“Stay here, I’ll be right back. And don’t touch anything.” The potions cabinet is a large wooden wardrobe with eight shelves inside. The cabinet has anything from rose petals to rare and deadly blood of magical creatures. My eyes skim over the labels and finally set my eyes on beetle eyes. It should cancel out the damage Potter did.

I carefully smash an eye into a vial and then pour only the liquid into the cauldron. The brew glowed white and I let out a sigh of relief.

“Rose thorns, would you add them?” I ask.

“Regulus? Can we talk-”

I slam down the vials I have in my hands and walk straight out the door ignoring the shouts behind me. Since I’m already in the dungeons, it doesn’t take long to enter my dorm. Tears are streaming down my face as I slam the door behind me. Why doesn’t he understand? I can’t talk to him, not when he’s best friends with my brother. Not when my brother hates me. Not when he’s not gay. Not when I’ve loved him for years.

I sit in front of the full length mirror and watch the tears run down my face. I pull my robes off myself and look at the face staring back at me then at the body that sits in the mirror. No one would ever love me like this. Not anyone with any sense. And definitely not him. Never him.

I’ll ask to be taken out of Advanced Potions then I won’t have to see him anymore.

The door creaks open behind me. I know it’s Pandora. Her arms wrap around my middle and she stays on the floor with me like that until I fall asleep.

Notes:

I love Pandora and Regulus' friendship
