“Don’t avoid him.” Pang Xie chided Sheng Wang as he sat his glass in the sink.
“I’m not.” Sheng Wang denied the truth. He was avoiding Jiang Tian in subtle ways that were probably not so subtle to his friends. He just couldn’t help the habit. It’d been six years of forcing himself to keep the man he was not in love with out of his life. One moment of letting him in even an inch would have ruined the perfectly crafted walls he’d erected in his chest. And like a wrecking ball two and a half hours ago Jiang Tian had. Sheng Wang had helped but that was besides the point. The reality was they needed to talk but he didn’t want to handle the devastation if it didn’t go well.
“You are and I’m going to be merciless. Goodnight, No I mean it. Have a goood night, I’m out.” Pang Xie all but fled before Sheng Wang could get a grip on him to yank him back to help. That left him and Jiang Tian alone to clean up the little bit of a mess that was still left from their dinner.
Across the room, picking up the half empty popcorn bowls Jiang Tian looked over at Sheng Wang. The sweater from earlier was gone allowing him to see how tense the younger man had become through the white tank. “That was subtle.” He found himself saying to try to lighten the now tense air in the apartment.
“Yeah, well he isn’t known for it.” Sheng Wang sassed, then gripped the edge of his sink counter. He forced himself to turn his head but he couldn’t look back at Jiang Tian. The urge to cross the room to get his hands on him. The years past had only made Jiang Tian even more handsome. “What do you want from me?” He couldn’t stop the frustration in his voice. Yes, he’d been the one that instigated their second kiss in his study but nothing had changed in the aftermath in terms that this was a bad idea. Their parents weren’t together anymore but they were good friends. Jiang Tian was still…
“You.” Jiang Tian answered smoothly, not seeming bothered by the bristled question.
Sheng Wang’s eyes widened as he full body turned to face him. His breath caught as his brain replayed that one word repeatedly. “You can’t just say that.”
“You asked what I wanted, Sheng Wang and I told you.“ Jiang Tian took a few tentative steps forward to set the popcorn bowls on the table that was mostly cleaned off. “You. I want you.”
“No, listen to me ge. ” Sheng Wang stomped over to him, “You can’t just say that there is much we need to think abou-”
“What’s to think about? Who else besides the two of us matter in this relationship? Because if you’re about to say our parents , that’s not going to work.” Jiang Tian cut him off. It was the truth. They mattered more in the beginning when they were teenagers. Now they are adults and their parents aren't even together anymore. “So give me another reason why I can’t have you.”
Why I can’t have you? The words replayed in his mind. The deep ugly truth was there was no reason now. He’d been fighting so hard it was still ingrained in him to deny the happiness they were both desiring. He licked his lips, his heart pounding in his chest so loud he was sure that Jiang Tian could hear it.
“I’m a workaholic-” Sheng Wang responded.
“No problem, I can bring you work life balance.” Jiang Tian chuckled. He couldn’t help but grin cheekily as Sheng Wang started to pout adorably. That twitch of his lips made him want to pull the other man into a kiss.
“I’m a brat.” Sheng Wang stumbled to get out as tried to get his poor heart under control as Jiang Tian took a tentative step forward.
“I’m well acquainted with that side of you. It’s also what I like best about you.” Jiang Tian gave back. His hands itching to pull Sheng Wang flush against him.
“I-I’m-wait what?” Sheng Wang found himself sputtering then flicked Jiang Tian’s shoulder before looking down at the table. “Now that’s a lie.”
“No it’s not.” Jiang Tian took a step forward, lifting Sheng Wang’s chin by the curve of his index finger. “And you know it. You could feel me falling for you as you were doing the same. That still hasn’t changed and I know it never will. Be with me, be my boyfriend.”
Sheng Wang let out a shaky breath as he took in all that Jiang Tian had said. He licked his lips, nodding his answer. A molten heat settled in his gut as Jiang Tian’s gaze tracked the movement. Like a match being lit, Sheng Wang reached up to grip Jiang Tian’s neck, pulling him in for a passionate kiss. Jiang Tian dropped his hand so that he could wrap his arm around Sheng Wang’s waist bringing him flush against him like he wanted.
Jiang Tian licked Sheng Wang’s bottom lip as he decided to let his now wandering hands trailed down, groping as he went to lift the man by the back of his thighs.
“Shi-” Sheng Wang started but was lost to Jiang Tian’s lips and tongue. He wrapped his arms around Jiang Tian’s neck as he locked his legs around his hips. His hands slipped into those silk dark strands, gripping firm when Jiang Tian moved to sit him on the edge of the table. That earned him a soft moan that Sheng Wang kept a mental note of.
The two of them were so lost in the moment that when Sheng Wang whined at Jiang Tian parting their kiss he chuckled. “Do you need to get that?” Jiang Tian pressed his temple against Sheng Wang’s. That’s when Sheng Wang realized his phone was ringing from the pocket of his cardigan. He grunted, shaking his head as he moved to shrug out of it, not caring that the weight of the phone had it slipping off the edge of the table. Sheng Wang stopped Jiang Tian from trying to snatch it back.
“No, I need you.” Sheng Wang answered before pulling Jiang Tian back in for another passionate kiss. He could finally have the man he’d wanted for so long. Nothing was going to interfere with them tonight.
