Work Text:

"Truth or dare?"

"Yhmm, truth I guess."

Venka pushed one of Heert's cats away from the bowl he held with his foot, getting the feline as far away as he could from his noodles. Three hours into the movie night they had been planning for weeks and they were already getting sidetracked by games and snacks.

"Truth? And here I was putting my money on you choosing a dare."

The lieutenant glanced at Lastok before his attention was forcefully turned back towards the cat that made another attempt for his noodles. Its plans were averted by Heert who caught the feline mid lunge and held it securely on his lap despite loud meowing. With the threat gone, Venka looked back at Lastok, the instigator of the game, "I'm not going to do any kind of dare, noodles are sacred." he pointed at the older man with his fork, "Now, what do you want to know."

Lastok held his hands up in mock surrender. "Okay, there's no need to threaten me with a fork," he rolled his eyes before grinning at the lieutenant. So, tell me something that nobody else knows."

Venka raised an eyebrow, "You want me to spill my secrets to you?" he glanced to the other side of the couch from his place on the floor, "And Lionel."

The older man smiled, "Exactly."

"Pfff, right. While I trust Lionel to keep it to himself, I'm having doubts when it comes to your trustfulness."

The older lieutenant looked mildly offended, especially when he noticed Heert nodding his head in understanding, "What!? I am plenty trustful!"

"Sure you areee." Venka hummed while stirring his noodles and smiled at glaring Lastok. "Alright, a game is a game. I will tell you but," he holds up a finger, "Nobody can know, especially people from Vilcha."

The lieutenant got a matching confused looks from the two older men, "What does it have to do with anything...?" Heert questioned, the cat on his lap settled down for a nap at that point.

"A lot, because the thing happened on Vilcha."

Lastok looked more curious with each passing second, "Well don't leave us in suspension any longer."

Venka chuckled, "Don't get your hopes up, it's nothing big. A minor thing compared to other things I did and it probably doesn't really matter anymore considering the fact that it's been fifteen years buuttt," he tilts his head, "My grandparents would most likely have my head, even after all this time."

He shrugged, "Anyway, I lit up a few abandoned buildings, no biggie."

"You what?!" Heert was the first to break the silence, causing the sleeping cat on his lap to jump over the couch and run to another room. Lastok stared at the younger lieutenant with widened eyes.

Venka looked at the other men in confusion, "What?"

Heert sputtered, "'What?', that's all you have to say??"

The lieutenant frowned, "Um, yeah? I mean, it's not that big of a deal. It's not like they got fully smoked. In fact, they are still standing in the same place."

"Like that makes it any better, Matt!"

"Hey! You were the one who almost burned down the kitchen a few months ago." Venka pointed Lastok with a fork again, wielding it like a weapon.

"Funnily enough, you were in that kitchen too! What a coincidence, isn't it."

Venka threw his hands up and groaned, "I was in the doorway, Rado."

Lastok crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow, "You were a meter away from it actually."

The younger lieutenant flipped the older man off and stuck his tongue out at him, which was mirrored by Lastok.

While the two lieutenants were acting like children, Heert covered his face with his hands and sighed, "I'm friends with an arsonist."

Venka cut in, "EX arsonist."

Heert dropped his hands and glared at the younger man, "It doesn't make it any better."

The lieutenant shrugged and went back to his noodles. A few moments of silence passed when Lastok looked back at Venka with suspicion.

"What did you mean by arson being a minor thing compared to other things you did."

Venka smiled at both of them.
