Chapter Text
“Okay..” Briar takes a moment to sigh, “Okay..okay… Well I guess since you guys want to risk my life to get a stupid rose we can go!”
Briar squats a bit behind a plant infront of the main entrance door, she digs into the pot of the plant until she finds a key and yanks it out. Briar then dusts her hands onto her skirt and holds the key up. “Okay the keys right here.” She says as she takes a deep sigh and unlocks the big castle doors.
“After you guys.” Briar curtesy’s and forces a fake (but believable) smile. The group share a scared look, (except Faybelle because she’s like evil and nothing scares her hahaha😐) and they hesitate to go through the door. “Guys how scary can it be? It’s a wonderful castle!” Crystal says attempting to be optimistic. She then goes through the door and waits for them.
“Guys.. I-I dunno, Briar made it sound super scary just now!” Blondie said cowered, Briar shook her head. “No, no.. Nothing bad will happen! Atleast not to you guys..” Briar says while trying to reassure the group. They all walk into the caste except for Briar, as she sighs and shakes at the doorway. ‘Gosh I really wished Hopper was here with me, then maybe his “true love” for me will save my ass’ Briar thought ,let out a humorous chuckle to herself, and walked through the door.
They then cautiously climbed the very icy stairs while Faybelle flew eagerly, kinda like she was looking forward to this?.. As they got to the 3rd floor, Briar guided them to the spindle room shaking in fear. “Well.. here we are” Briar says in a scared tone. “Look Bri… You don’t have to go in if you don’t want to” Rosabella whispers and pats her cousins back. Faybelle quickly popped up behind them. “She actually does have to go in…” Faybelle says annoyed. “N-not like.. I just think it’s a good way to get over her fear!” The fairy added with a guilty look on her face. Briar rolls her eyes at the fairy and faces her cousin with a resigned expression, “Yeah, I need to do this.” Rosabella tsk’ed and backed up.
Briar carefully reached for the door knob, her hands shaky as ever. She twisted the door knob slowly until the door became loose and pushed the door open. She exhaled and the group walked into the room. “Wow this room is very big..” Ashlynn said observing the area. Faybelle went right to the sewing machine and ran her hands on the machine. She looked up at Briar and muttered a quiet “It’s now or never.”
Faybelle flicked in the electric sewing machine, attempting to back up but getting attracted to it. She shook the slight attraction (or in this case the slight entraption). The noise of the machine caught everyone’s attention, including Briars. But it’s different, Briars attention was different from everyone else’s. She started to feel herself walking towards the sewing machine.
“I dare you to touch the spindle Briar!” Faybelle said. Briar sorta tuned her out and continued walking towards the machine until her hand drifted from her sides, going to touch the spindle. “Briar, NO!” Crystal yelled pushing Briar away from the machine. “What is your problem Faybelle?!” Crystal said shoving the fairy a bit causing her to stumble. “It was just a joke!” Faybelle said looking away with her arms crossed.
Briar wasn’t focused on Crystal and Faybelle arguing, she wasn’t focused on Ashlynn and Daring holding her to make sure she’s okay, she wasn’t focusing of Rosabellas’ concerned face nor Blondies mirrorpad that flashes in her face. She was focusing on yellow yarn, yellow yarn that was forming to make something, a flower..
“Uhm guys..” Briar nudged Daring and Ashlynn and pointed to the bright golden rose forming. Crystal also stopped arguing to see what Briar was pointing at and saw the bright rose turn red. “The summer rose!” Crystal exclaimed. Crystal rushed to grab it later handing it to Briar. Briar ran her fingers around the petals and squeezed the rose right.
As the group was celebrating, the machine was still going, this would be okay right? But the machine is over 300 yrs old and it starts making an overworked noise like it’s about to blow. It gets so overworked that the machine breaks apart, leaving all the sleeping fluids to simmer around the room.
They all fell on top of eachother into a deep sleep. Crystal trying to reach for the rose before she falls asleep, (and later fails).
Briar then opened her eyes slowly while stretching. Her eyes later shot wide and look side to side at her surroundings. “Where am…” She then sees a sewing machine, the exact same sewing machine as before she didn’t fall asleep, except it looks brand new and it’s perfectly carved. The machine automatically turned on and Briar got up. “Crystal!” Briar yelled out looking around. Briar then felt herself walking towards the machine uncontrollably. “A-Ashlynn!” Briar cried for help.. She was only greeted with silence.
“Briar?..” Faybelle yelled in a confused manner. “Faybelle!” Briar screamed in fear. “Briar where are you!” The fairy yelled out horrified. (but not scared because Faybelle is evil and evil people are never scared hahaha 😐you guys r gonna get sick of me I swear)
Briar didn’t respond but just accepted her fate. She didn’t have anything deep or sad in her mind at the moment. She just thought about the sun dress she recently bought but couldn’t wear because of the crazy epic winter, and that if she’s gonna be in a coma for 100 years she might never wear the dress. She also thought about the essay she had to turn into chemythstry class, and how it could potentially boost her grade from a C to a B if she gets a good enough mark. She also thought about how she will never get to clean her side of the room, since it’s always messy. She thought about how she could never get back to Hopper about going to the movies if she’s practically dead. She thought about prom ball, she thought about her sweet 18, she thought about getting her streaks redone on Thursday. She then felt herself crying, deep tears. It’s not like missing any of these things made her mad, (well it would if she wasn’t in a near death experience) but she just cried.
She then felt a tight grip on both of her hands. “Briar.. Are you!” Faybelle didn’t finish her sentence but instead she pulled Briar into an embrace. “When I said to face your fears this wasn’t what I meant”. Faybelle whispered. That then cause Briar to sob more but also have a smile while sobbing. Faybelle had a confuse look on her face as she parted from the princess. “Briar?” Faybelle echoed.
Briar looked up to see the sewing machine disappearing. She blinked and rubbed her eyes. She was visibly shaking but not in fear because it wasn’t shown in her face.
And then she woke up.
