Work Text:

The scene was hilarious, Namaari, usually so serious and calm, was now rambling nonsense and Raya was struggling not to laugh as she watched her friend in an anesthesia-altered state.

The taller girl had her cheeks swollen like a hamster and was trying to explain an absurd dream to Raya who was offering her a napkin to wipe the drool that was escaping from the corner of her lips —Don't worry— she said with affection —in a few hours you will be as good as new—

Namaari, with her voice mushy from the anesthesia, looked at her with narrowed eyes —Ray Ray, you are so pretty—

Raya couldn't help but laugh, seeing her like that was so strange but the sincerity with which she said it made her feel tender and amused at the same time —Maari you are groggy for the anesthesia you should rest and not talk so much— he told her with affection, approaching her to help her to lie down.

Namaari took it as a refusal and quickly sat down in the dentist's chair —Didn't you like it?— she asked, saddened making Raya feel bad for hurting her.

—It's not that, Maari— she started, searching for the right words —it's just that... you're a little... how to say it? Disoriented— Namaari looked at her with big, bright eyes, like an abandoned kitten and Raya melted inside —But I like spending time with you— she corrected herself, feeling her cheeks reddening.

The taller girl stood silently processing the information before smiling with satisfaction —I like spending time with you too— she said this time more animated.

Raya let out a snort in response and forced her to lie down for a few more minutes until the dentist told them they could leave the office and return to Namaari's apartment where she could rest.

The car ride back was pleasant, with the music playing in the background and the gentle breeze coming through the window, Namaari gradually relaxed, feeling the anesthesia begin to wear off Raya, for her part, occasionally glanced sideways at her friend to make sure she was comfortable.

Once home, she helped her settle on the couch, placing a soft pillow behind her head and covered her with a blanket —Hey, remember that movie you wanted to see weeks ago? I think it's already on the streaming platform— Raya smiled —Do you want to watch it now?—

Namaari nodded sleepily and snuggled under the blanket, the warmth and soft light of the screen soon made her fall asleep.

Raya watched her in silence for a moment as she reviewed the medications and care instructions, when she finished she let out a sigh and set the things down on the table. She had the plan to spend the night with her friend, something that was not uncommon between them but awkward since she became aware of how she felt about Namaari.

She walked over to the couch and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, feeling her heart pounding in his chest, Raya watched her waiting for some sign or reaction, but she was still asleep.

Feeling a mixture of relief and disappointment, she settled down next to her on the couch and remained silent while watching the movie until the tranquility of the moment made her fall asleep.

Waking up several hours later she picked up her phone, the screen showed a series of notifications and missed calls from her best friend. She frowned, puzzled, Sisu wasn't usually so insistent unless it was important.

She confirmed that Namaari was still asleep, and returned the call.

—Raya, where are you? I've been calling you for a while— Sisu's voice sounded worried and a little upset.

—I'm at Namaari's house, she had her wisdom teeth removed and I had to stay and take care of her— Raya answered, trying to sound as calm as possible.

—Oh my, that explains it, is she all right?— asked Sisu relieved.

—Yes, she's better now, she fell asleep as soon as we got to the apartment— she answered, without going into too much detail.

Sisu let out a laugh —Well, thank goodness! you know how the cat lady is when she gets sick—she paused before continuing —Well... I just wanted to ask you about the post on Namaari's profile—

—Excuse me?— she felt confused —what are you talking about?— she asked

Sisu let out a mischievous chuckle before answering —I think I'd better let you find out on your own— she said before saying goodbye and cutting off the call

Raya held the bridge of her nose and went to Namaari's profile, at first she didn't notice anything weird until she came to the post Sisu was talking about, apparently Namaari took a picture of her during the ride back to the apartment and in the description she wrote how much she loved her girlfriend for taking care of her, Raya almost smacked her forehead at the situation.

Now she understood why Sisu wanted answers, her best friend knew about the crush she had on her friend and was excited to see them together, they just weren't... or at least they hadn't formally talked about it.

Raya looked at Namaari, who was still deeply resting and a nervous smile crept on her face.

She decided to wake her up gently, to tell her that technically they were already a couple at least on social networks.

Now all that remained was to have the talk.

Namaari opened her eyes lazily and rubbed one of them.

—Raya— she muttered under her breath still feeling sore.

—Good morning— replied Raya, trying to sound casual —Hey, did you .... did you post anything on your networks—

Namaari settled on the sofa and frowned —What?—

Raya shook her head and showed her phone with the post. Namaari read it and her face turned completely red.

—Oh my god, I thought it was a dream— she exclaimed, covering her face with her hands and let out a groan from the pain she felt when she moved her mouth.

Raya let out a giggle and took it with humor —Well, at least now we know how you feel about me, don't we— she said, winking at her.

Namaari took her hands off her face and looked Raya in the eyes —And you, how do you feel about me?—

Raya came closer to her and took her hands, forcing her to look at her —I like you too—

Namaari's eyes shone like stars and a shy smile curved her lips It was amazing that Raya reciprocated her feelings!

After a moment of silence, he moved his head closer and rested his forehead on Raya's shoulder, enjoying the warmth of her company.

—Thank you for taking care of me— she said softly, trying not to overexert herself when she spoke.

Raya smiled and hugged her tightly —Always—
