Radiation Troubles

Work Text:

Any and all radiation spill were dealt with by Killjoy. Of course this was her choice, seeing as most of her or Vipers things could be radiation filled, she put it on herself to dispose of it. The plan was simple. Killjoy packed it into a tight lid container the bring it over to a certain part of the island she built specifically for anything radiation. The pit was three layers of concrete, water filled about half way and a lead top, with a lock and key only Killjoy knew. After opening it and despoing of the radiation Killjoy would then use Vipers creation to wash off any of the radiation before she returned to the base, though the small exposure before she deposed of it was catching up to her.

Killjoy found that she got tired more often, and even after starting to sleep much earlier, it didn't seem to help. Her muscles in her arms would twitch randomly, much like Viper's hands, though she didn't think to much on it. She would also get constant headaches, which of course she thought was a result of lack of sleep but it continues even as she got a much better sleep schedule. Her friends had yet to notice, thankfully, though Brim started giving her lighter duties and simple recon missions instead of full on gun fights, which she was thankful for though she hated that she couldn't do many missions anymore.

Viper finally put a stop to it when she found Killjoy slumped over her desk rubbing a headache with her eyes tight shut. "Killjoy?" Viper said softly, being wary to aggravate the engineers headache any more as she approached carefully. "Hm? oh hello Viper.. Did you need something?" Klara said straightening up and turning in her chair to look at the chemist, her stomach rolling uncomfortably though she fought against it. "Something wrong with you little maus?" Viper said instead, choosing to ignore killjoys on question. Killjoy waved her hand and chuckled softly as she turned back to the bot on her desk. "Im fine, Im fine, what can I do for you Viper?" She could feel Viper's glare on her, and the sound of her shoes coming closer before viper grabbed the back of her chair and spun her to face her quickly. The quick turn made her stomach lurch and Killjoy shot up and ran to the sink reaching it just in time. Viper stood stunned for a minute, the only sound was Killjoy hacking softly into the sink, trying to fight the instinct no that her stomach was a little settled.

Viper watched the hunch form of the Engineer for a few more seconds before grabbing her phone and texting Sage.

Viper: Sage. Need you in Killjoys workshop now.
Sage: Im on my way.

After the confirmation that the healer was on her way, Viper put her phone away and walked over to the engineer who was now gasping softly, leaning against the cabinets heavily. "Killjoy what is going on? If your not feeling well you should not be working." Killjoy shook her head gently. "Im still fine to work.. It's probably just a stomach flu.." Viper's eyebrows furrowed at that. No other agent had the stomach flu, as far as she could tell, and Killjoy hides in her room if she ever feels sick, to scared of getting anyone else sick if she left. Viper tried to wrack her brain for any possible reasons when Killjoy suddenly went limp, her knees buckling and sending her to the ground. Viper lunged forward and grabbed her arm tightly, saving her from hitting her head, gently lowering her to the ground instead. She patted her cheek, surprised with how warm Killjoy felt trying to get her back up when Sage burst through the doors.

"I'm here, what-" Sage froze with the sight of Killjoy on the ground, out cold. Viper was hovering next to her on one knee as she tried to wake the engineer back up. "She just passed out, I can't tell if its something serious or if she was just tired." Sage moved forward immediately and went to work examining the engineer with what she had, noting the fever the engineer had. "She also had a headache when I walked in, and she threw up like 3 minutes ago.." Viper said uncertainty. "That could be a slew of things, she could be sick, god forbid pregnant, or...." Viper snapped her head up at the healers hesitation. "Or what?" "Does she handle anything in radiation?" "I believe so, she only dabbles in it lightly, more deposes of it for me if I'm too busy." Sage eyes furrow slightly, as she gazed over the engineers body. "Do you know if she's ever been exposed to it?" Viper thought back slowly. "In her workshop probably, but I taught her the ways to keep her safe, or if i'm out of the lab she cleans up for me in there."

"She might have Radiation poisoning..." Sage said softly, watching over the chemists reaction. "Shit... There is a way to help her... can't you heal it though?" Sage shrugged faintly. "I-I dont know, it could work or the addition to Radinate could make it so much worse..." Viper cursed softly again pushing herself up and Away to think. Sage stood as well, though paused as Killjoys eyes fluttered open slowly. "Sge...? wha you doin here?" Sage smiled softly at the engineer and grabbed her hand softly. "I'm here to check on you Klara.. Do you have any other symptoms?" Killjoy paused for moment before shaking her head. "Just fatigue... That's about it..." Sage nodded faintly. "Do you think you can get up? I want to bring you to the Hospital wing okay?" Killjoy nodded and with Sages help got onto her feet. She was leaning heavily on the healer, and Viper watched the pair slowly walk out taking a breath. Deciding on what to do she headed straight for Brims office to tell him of what's happened, since her needs to know as the commander and Killjoys dad.
