“Suks! Someone’s asking for you!” Suki, who was currently talking to one of their new recruits turned around to see Ty Lee by the exit with her head sticking out.
“Can they wait for a little while longer? I’m still talking to-”
“Nope!” was the last thing Ty Lee said before she grabbed the Kyoshi Warrior leader’s hand to drag her away. She promptly ignored her leader’s scowls of protests and minor threats about making her training sessions longer than usual up until they were near Kyoshi’s statue.
“I swear to Kyoshi herself Ty Lee, if you don’t-” Suki’s mouth abruptly closed as her eyes set in on what’s in front of her. Sokka alongside Appa was standing right of her. Not to mention he’s wearing the same outfit he wore back in the Sozin’s comet. (one of her favorite outfits of his)
It’s been years since that happened, so a lot has changed between them. Their looks were no exception. Now turned man, Sokka’s a lot taller and his outfit doesn’t hide his arms. His hair stays the same length as it was all this time, him telling her in his letters that he doesn’t think he’ll rock the hairstyle his Dad has (he definitely would, or maybe Suki’s biased, you tell me)
“Don’t just stand there, go greet your boyfriend!” Ty Lee gave her a little push causing her body to almost bump into his. Almost because Sokka’s hands immediately hold her arms, making them hear each other’s heartbeats.
“Hi.” he greets first, wearing a small smile. Oh how she missed seeing his smile. Damn, she’s down bad.
She then realized she’s just been staring at him all this time, so in true Sokka fashion he then says, “Are you really that happy to see me? I’m touched.” while a hand wipes his eyes, making it look like he’s crying.
Suki just laughs, rolling her eyes before cutting the already small distance between them, hugging him close as she answers with, “Maybe, hard to tell whether or not I’m happy because you brought Appa here or because you’re here.”
Her teasing smile threw him off the edge, pushing away from their hug as he huffed and pouted. “Fine then! Have Appa all you want.” she lets out a giggle as she sees his face. They may be older now, but that doesn’t mean his huffs and pouts have disappeared.
Surprising him, Suki kisses his cheek and says, “Appa may be here but he’s not my boyfriend.” emphasizing the word ‘boyfriend’ knowing how much he likes her calling him that.
She can see the faint blush appearing on his cheeks, before he huffs one last time and replies with, “Alright alright you win this time.”
“You mean, every time-”
Giggling at his reaction, before he laughs with her. Well, there’s no denying that Sokka would let her win most of the time. And I’m not just talking about winning arguments.
“What are you doing here? Aren’t you and Dad still busy with meetings with the North Pole?”
“Yes, but Dad thought it’d be okay for me to take a small break. Plus,” he wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, “Wanna go on a date with me?”
Now it’s the Kyoshi Warrior leader’s turn to blush, her eyes averting from Sokka’s. The two were busy sharing this moment until Appa grumbled from behind them.
“Oh come one, buddy! I don’t see you do this to anybody but me!” the bison lets out another small growl, turning his head away from the couple.
Sokka rolled his eyes while Suki giggled beside him, “You’re lucky Aang never sees this.”
“So um,” Sokka turns his eyes back to her, “Would you, wanna go on a date?”
Suki’s eyes looked him up and down, making the newly established Chief even more nervous. “Suki, you’re killing me over here.”
She laughs, grinning when Sokka just nudges her gently and replies, “Of course I’ll go on a date with you, Sokka.”
“Great! Let’s go!”
“Wait, you mean right now? I still have-”
“Ty Lee’s taking care of it, don't worry.” Suki was about to protest even more before she found herself already on Appa’s back, Sokka climbing in shortly after.
“Where are we going?!” Suki quickly yelled as Appa was almost ready to fly, “Just wait and see, baby!” and off they went from Kyoshi Island, Ty Lee waving at them from a distance.
Appa’s now not as strong as he used to be, so Sokka eased him down so they’re now not that high off the ground. Suki was already surprised to find herself here, now her eyes are seeing what’s on Appa’s saddle.
A table set with a tablecloth that’s being held down by Sokka’s bag. She’s now even more curious as to what he’s planning for their date.
The future Chief turned his head to see her already eyeing on his surprise, “Hey! No peeking, we’re almost there.”
“Hard not to peek when my eyes were facing it already.” she smirked, leaning her back on the saddle.
Sokka then led Appa down to a river in the middle of a forest. He jumped his way to the saddle and immediately started prepping the table.
Suki was about to give a hand before he caught her hand and said, “Don’t worry, I got it. Just close your eyes for me, please?”
“Alright alright.” Suki then relented, facing away and closing her eyes, putting her hands on her eyes just in case. She hears glass being placed down on the table, accompanied by Sokka’s protests whenever Appa lets out a growl, “Would calm down for a minute more, buddy?!”
Once there was no more grumbling and protests, she gasped slightly as she felt Sokka’s cold hands placed on top of hers, slowly turning her upper body and pulling her hands away from her face.
The sight was something Suki always wished would happen to her when she was little. The previous table-cloth now changed to a softer green and blue plaid, below it looks to be a white fur blanket, Sokka knowing Suki easily gets cold during their travels all those years ago.
Two plates with an assortment of Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom delicacies, all Suki’s favorite foods. The candle in the middle as a cherry on top.
Suki doesn’t know it but Sokka’s sweating in nervousness thinking if this was good enough for her, he hopes that the list Ty Lee and Suki’s other Kyoshi Warrior friends gave him was accurate and not gifted to him to embarrass himself.
“Do you,” Sokka cleared his throat, “do you like it?”
If Sokka didn’t know better, his back would’ve needed healing right after this date. But his arms quickly found and held the two of them as Suki gave him a tight hug.
“I don’t just like it, I love it!” she cheered, a big smile plastered on her face as she pulled away, “Where did you find all this? The food, table-cloth, just this date idea in general.”
Sokka just shrugged, “Would admit that I did get some help from our friends, but I do remember a certain warrior being super excited whenever we had to fly on Appa’s back.”
A faint blush appeared on her cheeks, she did remember loving the breeze whenever they had to fly on Appa, though she never really told anyone, so to think that Sokka noticed her excitement just made her feel warm and fuzzy.
“Thank you for this, Sokka.” she said, holding his hand tightly all while pecking his cheek. The 21 year-old just smiled sheepishly, now his turn to blush. Suki and her cheek kisses will always be his biggest weakness.
After that heartfelt moment, the two decided it was time to eat and enjoy the rest of their date, occasionally hearing a growl or two from Appa.
“I’m surprised to see Aang allowing you to bring Appa here, you know how protective he is of him, especially now that he’s a lot older.” Suki said, taking a bite out of a meat skewer.
Sokka froze for a moment, before responding, “Eh, it was easy to convince him.” shuddering slightly as he remembered what their deal was.
“I don’t know, Sokka. He’s been grumbling a lot more often now, not to mention his poops have been more frequent to the point he can’t keep track of it.” Aang said worryingly, patting Appa’s fur as Sokka thought of a way to make him agree.
“Wait, he can’t poop on his own now?” from what the Water Tribe man remembered, the sky bison would disappear at times and quickly come back, it was Aang himself who said that he'll do his ‘business’ to not disturb the others.
The Avatar shook his head, “That’s why I haven’t been taking him on the journeys as much as I used to.”
“Although now that I think about it,” Aang chirped up, Sokka noticing a teasing glint in his eyes, “I do have to go to the Fire Nation, it’ll be a looong journey and we might have to make some stops for Appa’s sake.”
Rolling his blue eyes, Sokka then mutters, “What are you proposing?”
Aang let out the biggest smile, a smile that Sokka grew to know and realize he uses to get his way on things. “I’ll take us to the Fire Nation if you help Appa with his-”
“There is no way that I am going to-” Appa grumbles, interrupting the two. Sokka tch-ed, now lowering down his voice, “Aang, there is no way.”
“Well, looks like I won’t let you bring Appa around anywhere then.” the Avatar pouted, crossing his arms and looking away.
If he were to talk like he was back when he was fifteen, he would’ve just given up and found another way for his date. But, he knew how much Suki loved riding on Appa’s back, closing her eyes in content as she felt the air hitting her face and hair.
So, with a heavy sigh and a prayer to the spirits, Sokka reluctantly said, “Alright.”
He doesn’t want Suki to know this. Let this be a secret only him and Aang to know (and Appa technically)
“He is pretty easy to please, so I’m not super surprised.” Suki nodded as she continued eating. Their conversations shifted from that to gossiping about everything their friends were doing. The benefits of being the Fire Lord’s personal guard and future Chief of the South Pole while having a master waterbender as his sister.
“No way, jerk-bender really snapped? Never thought he would do it this early.” Sokka almost squealed after asking. You can tell that these two love to talk about their firebender friend.
Now sitting next to each other, Suki nodded excitedly, “Yeah, I mean those counselors deserve it. They started talking shit about his way of leading.” she sighed, “I almost wanted to step in to defend him, but I guess when they mentioned the Southern Water Tribe, he snapped. Really snapped.”
“Damn.” he says, grabbing his cup to drink, “Gotta give it to him.”
“Weird that he can’t throw them out, considering their age.” Sokka snorted after his girlfriend realized what she just said. Suki looked up to see him holding in his laughter. But, as soon as his eyes landed on hers he burst out laughing.
“Sokka!” she calls out, hitting his elbow with a faint blush on her cheeks. He couldn’t stop laughing, Suki is trying to change her way of words now that she’s older, but it doesn’t help when Toph likes to come by to Kyoshi Island to bother her almost every week.
“Sorry,” he tries to say, failing as he’s still laughing, “it’s just been a while since I heard you talk shit about literally anyone.”
Suki rolled her eyes as he continued on giggling. She looked him dead in the eye but Sokka paid no attention, before shutting him up with a kiss. Sokka let out a noise of surprise, before melting away as he kissed her back.
Suki pulled away, smirking as she saw his flustered face. Her eyes then immediately went to his lips, she was so focused that she didn't notice him doing the same thing. It was like the wind was pushing them together, and before you knew it their lips were connected once again.
Suki climbed up to sit on his lap, hands now wrapped around his neck. Sokka fixed their position, assuring that both of them were comfortable before following Suki as they deepened their kiss.
“Have I ever told you that the Kyoshi Warrior outfit is my favorite outfit of yours?” Sokka lets out shakily, his lips now smeared with her makeup. Suki lets out a small chuckle, lowering her head as she starts to kiss his neck and jawline.
“And have I ever told you that this outfit is my favorite?” the future chief lets out a deep groan, his hands coming up to take off her head-piece, putting it aside. They continued kissing, now it’s Sokka’s turn to lean down and kiss her neck.
Things were turning steamy, especially with the way Suki lets out a small moan right next to his ear. Oh Spirits give him strength. Sokka’s hands were on his way to start taking off her suit, well up until Appa decided to grumble quite loud, startling the two.
They let out short breaths, their hairs a bit disheveled, and not to mention Sokka’s entire face was covered in paint. The two once again looked at each other, their eyes narrowing on the other’s lips.
“Kyoshi Island?”
“No, let’s go to the South Pole.”
Sokka lets out a chuckle, kissing her once more before going back on Appa’s head, “Yes, ma’am.”
