Chapter Text
Kevin was an arsonist. It was common knowledge among the lads. The sky was blue, grass is green, and Kevin is an arsonist.
What was less known was the multitude of burn scars on Kevin's hands. After all, Kevin loved fire but that didn't mean it loved him back.
The other lads didn't think about it until one afternoon Kevin came inside smelling strongly of smoke and ashes. The human was wearing his favorite hoddie with both hands stuffed in the front pocket.
"Kevin, are you alright?" One of the lads questions as Kevin tries sneaking past them.
"I smell burnt flesh." Sean added helpfully, making everyone's worry increase. Kevin just nervously smirks at them and slowly backs out of the room as he speaks.
"It's only a flesh wound!"
"Only a flesh wound!?"
There's a gasp and suddenly Kevin is not halfway out of the room and is instead huddled on a chair as the others surround him.
"Really lads, it's no big deal." Kevin says awkwardly as Dan takes both of his hands and shows them to Brian. The android proceeds to instruct Sean on what medical supplies to gather. Brian then drops to his knees on the floor so he work and see better.
The werewolf gives a serious nod and disappears out of the door moments later. Daithi looms over Brian's shoulder as he looks at Kevin's hands.
"Yikes lad. How are you not complaining right now?"
Kevin tilts his head slightly before looking down at his fingers. He tries to flex them only to let out a soft hiss of pain. Kevin proceeds to looks back up and towards a random wall as he shrugs.
Sean comes rushing in seconds after, carrying what Brian instructed. The werewolf makes his way to the android's side, Daniel reluctantly moves away to make room for Sean.
"Got them." Sean says, a bit breathless as he hands over the supplies.
The group fall silent as Brian works, all watching Kevin like predators with prey.
Kevin shifts awkwardly as his burn marks are cared for, unsure on how to feel about all this. Eventually the silence ends as Daithi makes some common that gets Brian going, which Sean encourages of course. Dan and Kevin just watch.
The vampire's hand rest softly on Kevin's shoulder as they watch the others. The human let's out a shaky breath and seems to calm as he tucks his now bandaged hands back in his hoodie pocket.
The other three increase in value while Daniel catches Kevin's attention.
"I don't know why you hide your pain, but know that we'll always be here to help you manage it, okay?"
And for the first time that afternoon, with the sound of arguing happening only a few feet away, Kevin gives a genuine smile as he nods. "Yeah, ok."
