Undyne knocked on the door to Alphys’ lab. “Alphys! I have pizza!”
No answer. She knocked again. Still nothing.
Weird. They were meant to be meeting at this time. Maybe she had just forgotten. Undyne took out her phone and called her. No answer there either.
She started panicking. What if something bad had happened to her in her lab, and she was trapped inside? She had to do something.
Dropping the pizzas, she dug her fingers into the groove of the door. With all her strength, she pulled them open. The door was a little damaged, but she knew that Alphys was smart enough to fix. She might just owe her a Spider Donut though.
She made her way inside, noting that all the lights were on. That was unlike Alphys, so she must be inside. She materialised a blue spear, and explored the lab further. Everything seemed normal. She looked into a few rooms to no avail. She was nowhere to be found.
She noticed a door that she felt had never been there before. It was sturdy and had a keypad next to it. She tried to pry it open, but it wouldn't budge. Guess she was going to have to try to crack the passcode.
She tried Alphys' birthday first. Nothing. Then she tried the date she became the royal scientist. Still nothing. Then she decided to try the date they had started dating. It was a long shot, but the door clicked open.
She walked through, and down a flight of stairs. She entered a wide open room. Punching bags hung from the ceiling, and there were training dummies and rows of dumbbells along the walls.
In the middle of the room was Alphys. Instead of her white lab coat, she was wearing a black gym top and leggings. She was punching one of the punching bags, breathing out sharply every time she hit it. Sweat glistened on her brow.
“Alphys!” Undyne yelled.
“Ahh!” She jumped back in surprise. “How did you get in here?”
“You didn't answer the door. I got worried. What is this place?”
She blushed. “It's my training room. I realised when Frisk was coming through Hotland that I couldn't really help them outside of fiddling with the electronics.” She squeezed her eyes shut. “I also wanna be strong like you!”
Undyne blinked slowly at her, then her face burst into a smile. “Why didn't you say so? You can always train with me.”
“R-really?”
“Of course! Nothing beats a gym buddy.”
She ran over and hugged her. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
She hugged her back. “Also, I broke your front door. Sorry.”
Alphys shrugged. “I needed a new door anyway.”
