Work Text:
Princess and sorcerer
Warrior and mage
Dragon and human
Almost two worlds apart,
And yet they ended up in each other’s arms.
The sorcerer
Deceitful
Cruel
Merciless
Always serving his king
Loyal to no one else
It is a ruthless loyalty
Conniving as a snake
The princess
Honest
Kind
Merciful
Always serving her family
Loyal to those who trust her
It is a fierce loyalty
Dealing justice like a goddess
Two opposites
Two antonyms
Two paradoxes
Two who ought to hate each other
And yet there they were.
Two mates
Two beloveds
Two lovers
Two who are secretive and furtive.
Every day
Gazes lingered on the other
Longing hidden behind tact and diplomacy
Behind subtle touches and being near each other
It is a painful wait to be together truly.
Every night
Whenever they can
Their eyes embrace the form of the other
Their longing flourishes like the sea
Their touches and kisses speak a thousand words
Only when the stars are high are they truly together
Alas, as such stories go
They are not meant to be together.
His king would surely punish him
Her family would surely lament her
His king would surely devour them both
Her family would surely annihilate her heart
And so the war wages on.
It is a storm they both must weather together.
As sword clashes with katana,
Spear with naginata,
Tome with scroll,
The couple decided long ago:
They are indeed loyal to each other.
No matter how many fall,
There must be hope in a future
Where light can coexist with dark,
Where the truth can be a beacon for all.
But for now,
They will drown in each other’s embrace,
Submerged in the waves of their affection
Not daring to let go for the rest of the night.
