Immortality and Lazarus Waters

Chapter 7: Post Date Recap

Chapter Text

“Alright Jason,” Bruce crossed his arms sitting across form where Jason was cradling a cup of tea, “What did Ra’s say that had you so upset. Tim refused to disclose the information saying it would be best for you to explain as much as you wished to.”

Jason laughed bitterly as he looked up from the cup, “I’m immortal.”

Dick’s chair legs, which had been hanging in the air as he leaned the chair back balancing on two legs thumped onto the floor, “Your what?”

“Remember the fight I got weird after?”

Everyone nodded, faces in a range of expressions.

Jason took a breath and let it out slowly before continuing, “One of the guys snapped my neck. I checked my heart rate monitor during the fight before coming here, it stopped. I was dead, again.” Jason took another calming breath, “Then the energy or whatever of the Lazarus pit water revived me.”

Barbara grimaced, “I was so relieved when the sensor started picking up your heart beat again. I’ve been trying to convince myself it was a malfunction in the sensors.”

Dick drummed his fingers on the table, “That’s why you wanted me to get you his helmet. You wanted to check the sensor.”

“I ran diagnostics on the one that was still in the helmets but I couldn’t find anything wrong so I replaced it just in case, but Jason didn’t get to use the new sensor as he got so weird.” She looked to Jason, “Why were you so out of it?”

“My spirit apparently didn’t know how to reconnect back to my body or something like that. I didn’t exactly understand everything Ra’s was saying, mostly because I was to freaked out to pay to enough attention. Luckily Baby Bird was there and probably has anointed notes on everything Ra’s said. Getting splashed with the Lazarus pit water apparently got my spirit and body to recognize each other again or something like that.”

Damian scowled, “How did the Lazarus energy revive you? It’s meant to be used on those close to death and we were not near a pit.”

“Well that close to death thing doesn’t really apply to me apparently cause Talia put me in there when I was dead. I mean she used bandages and such to keep my limbs attached to each other.”

Tim frowned, “I was wondering about that. Your funeral was open casket, did something happen to your body before Talia got a hold of it? I mean you looked unharmed when I came to pay my respects. I mean,” He frowned, “They use makeup to cover injuiries on the face but a body blasted into pieces should have been visible.”

Jason shrugged, “A good suit can cover a lot of things. But anyway the pit should have failed to do anything as I was dead as a doornail, and in pieces.”

Dick frowned, everyone ignoring the pain that crossed Bruce’s face, “But you’re here now.”

“Yeah apparently my spirit was still clinging on to my body or something so the pit worked and more. It not only revived me, but put me back together which caused the whole immortal thing. When the pit was glueing me back together I got water into my body like in my flesh and blood. Ra’s said I have at least a millennium before I could possibly die as I was exposed to so much of the water in the way I was exposed to the water.” Jason let out another broken laugh, “Probably two without further exposure to the water.”

The room was silent except for Jasons somewhat hysterical laughter.

Damian frowned, “Why did grandfather tell you this? Why in person?”

“Apparently he thinks I’m attractive and wants a,” Jason laughed again, “Second date.”

Bruce shot up, “I did not give my approval for him to court you.”

Jason narrowed his eyes at Bruce, “I don’t need your permission to let someone to court me, and he asked Talia as I’m also her pup.”

Steph tilted her head, “What did she tell him he had to do to court you? I mean she didn’t just say yes because he’s her dad, right?”

“No.” Jason grinned, attitude perking up remembering the gift he had been given, “She said he had to give me something in specific, something that will piss B off.”

Dick frowned, “What could that be?”

Damian nodded, “Mother would not want to cause undo division between you and Bruce as she wants you to stay as the Wayne omega, my omega. So, what did she ask of him?”

“Ra’s gave me Joker’s head.” Jason purred thinking on the gift.

Everyone else stared at Jason before Tim coughed getting everyone’s attention, “I have confirmed the identity of the head and have it ready for incineration. Ra’s included the ashes from the rest of the Joker’s body beneath a false bottom in the gift box he gave Jason. The head will be burned and I have worked with Kon to organize for the ashes to be dropped into a black hole.”

Jason blinked, “A black hole?”

Tim caught Jason’s eyes, his eyes serious, “I will not have any bit of him any where near you if I can help it, and anywhere on the earth seems to close for me. I would be willing to drop the ashes in a volcano if you’d prefer that.”

Jason thought for a moment before nodding, “I think the black hole is better option.”

“Kon will be here in two hours to pick up the ashes, Bruce you have an hour before I start the incinerator.”

Bruce flexed his fingers on the arm rests of his chair, “Your certain it is him, all of him?”

Tim nodded.

“Turn on the incinerator. I need to send a nasty message to Ra’s about killing in my city, and,” Bruce looked to Jason, “Are you going to accept his courtship?”

Jason nodded, “I’ll give him a chance. He already gave me what I have always wanted since I died so I’ll see where it goes.”

“Then I will tell Ra’s what he has to do to get approval to court the Wayne Pack omega.” He held up to prevent Jason from speaking, “I know you don’t need my approval but I want to see for myself that he is serious before you start courting. He’s an older, powerful alpha. I want to make sure he’s willing to do more than just kill to get the right to court you.”

Jason sat back crossing his arms, a light flush on his face. Although he definitely looked mad about Bruce acting like Jason’s alpha but the light purr and scent of happy omega made it clear that he wasn’t actually angry.
