Summary
“I think it’s time your outside matches your insides, don’t you?”
Before he could ask what she meant, a burning ache started; it spread across his skin, like nails dipped in acid, scratching and melting until it felt like the blood boiled in his veins. He could barely feel it as rough fur burst free, ripping his clothes as his muscles stretched and grew. He screamed but it came out as a vicious howl. Nails clicked across the stone floor as he desperately tried to push himself up and away from the pain. He heard her laughing, heard that terrible glee, but he couldn’t hold onto it, couldn’t hold onto anything, but the heavy weight of his agony.
Finally, slowly, eventually, he could breathe again without the urge to retch. He opened his eyes and slammed them shut again when the room spun. Everything looked different. Sharper. Brighter.
His eyes.
Plural.
Blinked his way through the disorientation of having perfect vision.
Fur covers his hands.
No. Not hands.
Paws.
Paws with long claws and thick brown fur that crawled up his grotesque arms and across his huge chest. He stood up on burning legs that ended with more claws, and roared. The sound echoed around the castle.
