Work Text:
Upon entering the room there was an obscenely large ancient mirror rather prominently and inconveniently placed near the bed. No matter from which angle one positioned themself on the bed, one was always watched by his reflection. Jamie raised his eyebrow at himself, waiting for Charlie to spot the mirror, who had followed him into the room.
“If it couldn't get any more weird!” he noted, exhausted from the over the top spooky decoration of the premise, while sitting down next to his boyfriend on the bed.
“We could try and move it, if it troubles you that much?”
“I'm not touching anything here unless I have its consent, don't plan on taking anything back that isn't mine.” Charlie let himself fall back on the bed, not very keen on keeping eye contact with himself. His thoughts wandered off for a second, thinking about how awkwardly it was placed, making him think a ridiculous thought, ridiculous but hot thought, which he could never bring to say out loud. Closing his eyes, chuckling, he patted the empty side on his bed.
Tentatively Jamie watched himself as he came up with a plan to distract them from the eerie house. The reflections smirk lasted a bit longer than his as he turned to lie down next to Charlie, chaste running a hand over his chest before kissing him.
“What are you up to?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing yet.”
“Are you accusing me of plotting a crime, DI Nelson?” Jamie smiled rolling on top of Charlie, continuing to tease him with kisses which Charlie chased after.
“We have a case, DS Winter and you're obstructing police work.”
“Then stop kissing me if you want to work.”
Charlie looked at him for a critical second before indulging in the momentum. Preferring being pressed into the mattress with kisses over exploring the cursed basement.
They had been sent to investigate undercover as paranormal investigators rather than detectives in a murder investigation, to get some insight on the premises, since all the leads their colleagues had worked on had resulted in nothing.
Quitewell Hall had been infamous for the sightings of a headless horseman rumoured to have caused many casualties over the centuries, the near civil war site also fed into the legends of a haunted house.Nowadays it had been turned into a tourist trap location, yet disappearances and a recent death near the premises drew the attention of DCI Barnaby back to the house. Jamie and Charlie hadn’t been part of his team back then, thus they were sent to find some potential skeletons in the closet. They had some time to kill before the official tour began and then even more so before they could sneak out to do their own investigation, so Jamie had decided to make his boyfriend a bit more carefree and unconcerned about this place, who wasn’t pleased at all to be here.
DI Nelson wasn’t a man, who was easily scared, if anything he did enjoy a good horror movie. However certain places sent shivers down his spine and left an unpleasant feeling in the back of his head, never quite sure what it was.
He didn’t really believe in the supernatural, but was open to anything, especially since he returned to Midsomer. His boyfriend was the living proof of it.
Jamie was nibbling on Charlie's neck, which the DI thoroughly enjoyed, rewarding him with soft grunts as he grinded against him. Grinning wickedly he gave him one last deep kiss before situating himself between Charlie’s legs, making a quick deal of his jeans and briefs. Catching a glance of himself in the mirror Charlie gasped, finding this most inappropriate to watch, but all this was forgotten once he felt Jamie's lips sucking love bites into his inner thighs.
Risking a glance at the mirror, rather aroused by the look of his hand in Jamie's hair as he was taken. Letting his head fall back on the pillow, savouring the feeling of Jamie's mouth around his length, setting just the right pace to make him comfortable.
The flick of his tongue made him shiver with arousal rather than fear, for the first time since they had arrived here.Pulling his hair slightly to hear Jamie moan wickedly at the appreciated touch, helped him focus on the delicate noises he made rather than the odd creaks and noises of the place they were staying in. Covering his mouth with his free hand to keep the noise down, as Jamie picked up the pace, Charlie found himself staring back at his mirrored self, cheeks flush and eyes darker than they should be. Coming down hot Jamie's throat with a shuttered gasp at this hauntingly hot view. Returning back for some air, Jamie licked over his lips approvingly, when he realised his boyfriend had noticed the mirror.
The ghost tour was walking the tightrope between informative and trashy, the house truly had an eerie feeling to it, however the haunted house playlist with creepy sound effects from badly concealed speakers kinda ruined the atmosphere. Charlie tried his best to focus on the information provided, but whenever he looked at his boyfriend for comfort he caught a smirk ever so often which made shiver thinking about what they had done previously and made his mind wander off with what lay in stall for him, once the tour was over. Jamie caught him at the last step of the stairs, preventing him from falling and used the opportunity to pull him close for a brief moment, they were last in line of the tour anyways and it was dark.Catching his breath, Charlie looked at him, admiring his strong arms, biting his lips knowing they couldn’t kiss just now, Jamie smiled entwining their hands helping him down the last step gallantly. The cellar was loaded with skulls next to wine bottles, some of them looking a bit too real to be plastic. The detectives took a mental note to remember their position in order to compare it to pictures taken in a previous investigation.
Thinking about a potential mass grave here made Charlie take his boyfriend's hand for comfort again, knowing the startled look on his boyfriend's face, who had made the same observation upon seeing the bones. The end of the tour ended in the pub situated adjacent to the manor, where allegedly the headless horseman could be seen chasing after coaches around midnight every full moon. They used the merry get-together in the pub to ask some harmless questions about disappearances and unconventional people, over a pint, before returning to their room.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Charlie's eyes met Jamie's who stepped closer and let his chin rest on his boyfriend's shoulder. The bones downstairs still haunted his mind, the noises of his house were overwhelming him as well.
"I don't think I can bring myself to sleep here." he let out a startled breath, thinking about an excuse how they could leave early.
"Then let's not sleep then and don't think, maybe we should explore something new together." Jamie began to kiss his neck, slowly unbuttoning his shirt while Charlie studied him awestruck in the mirror.
"If you're suggesting summoning a demon for a three-way I'm going to divorce you..."
"We'd have to get married for that first." He chuckled softly, closing Charlie in his arms tighter to distract him from the odd noises outside the door.
Hoping to replace the adrenaline caused by anxiety with arousal.
"A few clicks online and then..." Charlie teased him softly, still tense but slowly warming up to his boyfriend's touches.
"Charlie..." that was all the warning he got.
"Look into the mirror and watch yourself. I want you to see how beautiful you are to me."
Jamie let his skilled fingers wander lower until he reached the top of Charlie's jeans, who gasped at the obscene image presented in front of him as Jamie opened his top buttons and moved his hand inside his boxers, his whole body stiffened realising his plan.
" Jamie..."
"No no, don't look away. I want you to focus on nothing else.” He pressed an open-mouthed kiss to Charlie's neck, as he began to stroke him, in a rhythm which made his knees weak. Charlie let out a startled breath, leaning back into Jamie's body, signalling him to keep going. With a proud grin, the DS kept his hand going, tempting Charlie to watch how beautiful he was when he came undone in his arms.Biting his lips Charlie was inclined to close his eyes as his breath hitched, but Jamie was fully in control and told him not to.
“Should we move to the bed?” Jamie asked with a wicked tone in his voice.
Caught between amusement and arousal, the DI found himself agreeing to this ridiculous proposal and their clothes disappearing as they made the distance from directly in front of the mirror to the bed. Charlie took the liberty of kissing Jamie back but he wasn’t able to change his mind.
“No, no this is about you, so don't stray away from the plan.”Jamie turned him around and helped him settle in his lap, Charlie's body welcomed him almost impatiently, grinding on him till Jamie gasped unprepared. There were eerie sounds outside the door, no doubt part of a weird tourist trappy soundtrack which was switched up even more in the evening, a tree branch rattling against the window, which sent shivers down Charlie's spine and made Jamie react by kissing those away.
“Hush.. Focus on us… Look how good you look.” Jamie took the liberty to let his hand roam over Charlie's ribs and chest, slowly as he pushed all the way in, being rewarded with a soft groan from his boyfriend, who had tried his best not to make any noise.A red flush spread down his chest, the veins in his boyfriend's forearm began more prominent as he picked up the pace, which made Charlie even more aroused as he noticed it. The DI eyes were transfixed by their entwined body in the mirror, never having seen his flushed form before, caused by a barely visible Jamie, whom he could feel move deliciously inside him.
The devil on his shoulder told him to keep looking, appreciate how good his boyfriend made him feel.
“Can you see this? All flushed and mine? Gorgeous.” Jamie whispered, sending new pulses of heat through Charlie's body, when he began stroking his length to attention again.
This was insane, trying to catch his breath Charlie turned his head to face his boyfriend, who kissed him deeply, before guiding his head back to focus on the task in front of him. It was obscene watching his length being raised to full arousal, he had never paid so much attention to his body's capability until now.
Mesmerised by the way Jamie's muscles flexed, Charlie leaned back in awe to fully appreciate being caught by his strong arms keeping him stable.
Knowing he’d always be safe in them.
Vividly aware of all the places his boyfriend was touching him, it felt like their souls had truly melted together. Arching more into his touch, listening to his boyfriend growing more vocal at the appreciating.
This should last an eternity.
Unable to talk, reduced to heated breaths and soft moans, the monsters outside the door were long forgotten.
“Let yourself go. I got you.“ he continued, his words were the purest aphrodisiac, his blue eyes glistening lustfully, while placing open mouth kisses to his neck.
Charlie closed his eyes for a sweet second to savour the blissful moment, returning to find his eyes having turned dark and his face glowing radiant.
Finding just the right pace to make him comfortably forget his own name, Charlie almost believed in the paranormal, given the way his boyfriend was not from this realm.
“Told you you're gorgeous.” Jamie placed sweet kisses on his neck as a reward, steady moving his hand till he felt Charlie slump against him, who had no voice left to reply.
Charlie's wrecked but blissful expression made Jamie fill with pride upon his accomplishment. He kissed his temple, closing his arms around him before slipping easily out of him. Charlie's skin felt hot under Jamie’s hand, almost feverish.
Wincing at the loss of connection, Charlie signed and looked at him before laying down on the bed catching his breath for a moment.
Not quite believing what had just happened, before pulling his boyfriend down beside him, to finish him off, with his skilled hand, while making sure Jamie was paying attention to him.
“Being undercover isn’t that bad, I could really get used to it.” playfully hoarse Jamie moaned while Charlie's fingers continued to tease him.
“I was about to say the same thing about haunted houses.” he chuckled before trapping Jamie’s mouth with a deep kiss.
They continued to make out lazily till the belltower outside chimed, foreboding the arrival of the spirits hour.
The time they had arranged to use for their real investigation.
Jamie had made sure not to let Charlie out of his sight, always kept him at an arm's length, just in case he needed his hand.
When John called about the status of their investigation in the morning, Charlie happily told him that there in fact were no ghosts or headless riders haunting the premises, just some shady hotel owners with a cellar full of questionable bones Kam would have to check out later.
As they left their room, Jamie remarked that maybe they should visit IKEA soon to acquire some new furniture, which made Charlie bite his lip with a smile.
Maybe they should.
