Chapter Text
Blaine and Kitty took care of the essentials, they just had to go downtown to the bakery shop and pick up the cake, along with the other snacks. Blaine had been so distant all day, navigating a sea of emotions. More than anything he was confused, he had really thought he and Sebastian had made love last night, but apparently the man didn't feel the same way.
“I'm going to pack this up for you and I'll be right back.” the pie maker turned away, taking the pie with him.
“I don't understand these wedding things.” Kitty shared her thoughts aloud. “If you like someone, just go for it. And keep them for yourself.” she gave Blaine a sidelong glance, as if she wanted to tell him something.
“So… you and Sebastian are serious?” she asked.
“No, no, it's just…” Blaine stammered. Suddenly nervous. “We're just together situationally.”
Kitty put both hands on the counter. “Because when I saw you two last night at the bay...I thought there might be something more going on between you.”
“Just... situationally.” Because that's what Sebastian wanted, right? That's what we had done all this for. And besides, if he ran away, it's because it was nothing. No big deal. Forget about him, Blaine.
“Then you don't mind if I go after him?” Kitty looked determined and Blaine swore something thick went through his throat. “I think I've made a mistake letting him go. If it's not right, just tell me. Really.”
Blaine shook his head several times, but his answer was indecipherable. He wanted to say it wasn't right, but Blaine thought he knew what Sebastian wanted all along. “I know he really likes you.” he forced a smile.
Back at the house, Kitty and Blaine were carrying the huge cake. And Blaine had had to pretend it didn't hurt him to hear Kitty talk about how she planned to win Sebastian back.
“How do you think I should play this with Sebastian?” she asked him. “Should I wait until after the wedding?”
“I don't know.” Blaine responded indifferently.
“Have you guys hooked up?” Kitty had a questioning look on her face. Maybe she had noticed from the way Blaine had been acting.
And he was about to answer her, until his parents arrived in hysterics.
“Blaine, is it true?” Dom was furious.
Blaine’s hands were shaking and Kitty could barely hold the cake by herself, he did his best to carry it to the table.
“You told us you were moving to Lima because you got a job offer, but you really can't stand being around your parents.” Pam was out of her shit. “Ever since you broke up with Sam, everything went to hell. Are you on drugs, because at least that much I'd understand.”
“Who told you that?” Blaine had gone from nervous to angry in just a second. He had only confided in one person.
“What?” Rachel was coming in with Quinn. “Don't you have a job?”
“When were you going to tell us?” his father asked with his hands on his hips. “Is it to get back at us? I'm sorry if we've pushed you to succeed all your life.”
“We're terrible parents.” Pam turned to look at Dom wryly.
“It always has to be about you.” Blaine shook his head.
“Yes it is. It's about us.” his mother countered. “And no, we're not going to let you throw your life away because you're going through something. Everyone is going through something. It's called life.”
“Hey.” Sebastian arrived, He was bringing a bouquet of red tulips for Blaine, he thought maybe it was a good time to talk and clear the air.
Blaine, however, had an angry look on his face, which made his stomach muscles tighten and forced him to avert his eyes to Pam and Dom.
He had seen him look at him like that several times over the previous few days. It wasn't the loving, warm look he’d known from Blaine since everything changed between them, and it made him uneasy. “I can't believe it, did you tell them?”
“No, I didn't tell them.” The words came out with noticeable concern. He felt a sudden urge to move, to end the distance between them, to quell the discomfort that was trying to creep in.
“We heard when you told Puck.” Dom interjected.
“Yeah, no, I told Puck, but I didn't mean it like that.” Seb spoke softly. Too softly-and tried to move closer, but Blaine backed away. “They were gonna find out at some point. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.”
“You're a real piece of shit.” said Blaine without batting an eye. With the pain that had appeared on his face a moment before.
“I made a mistake. I'm sorry.” Sebastian replied, a little wistfully.
“There's a reason you're alone: No one can trust you.” Blaine said, looking angry.
Those words felt like a slap on the face. Then he couldn't keep quiet. “Yes, and what is your reason?”
“Men like you.”
“Keep telling yourself that.” Sebastian smiled at him with distaste.
“Fuck you.”
“Don't do this here and now.” Puck stepped in between the two. “I messed everything up. It's all my fault.”
Blaine grimaced before turning on his heel so he could look at everyone. Inhaling agitatedly.
“Guys, I am so sorry, but your plan is all ruined. We are not together. We were faking it the whole time.”
Some had been left open-mouthed, but Pam and Dom were the only ones confused, they didn't know what Blaine was talking about.
“So you lied to me too?” Sam asked him. “You're not together?”
“I could never be with someone like him.”
“Yes, because I'm the one who screwed up.” Sebastian nodded, sarcastically.
“You screwed up!” Blaine yelled.
In the distance, clouds rolled in their direction, their heavy gray bodies brimming with moisture. Soaking up the harshest rays of the Sydney sun. It wasn't long before the summer storm made landfall. Less than expected, it began to rain as soon as the wedding cake hit the ground.
Quinn closed her eyes angrily, clenching her hands into a fist. She shot them a murderous glare before walking away. Rachel followed her.
Blaine and Sebastian couldn't even look each other in the eye, so they too left going their separate ways.
For the past few hours, the atmosphere in the house had been thick. The family had tried their best to hold back and not ruin Quinn and Rachel’s wedding, but things weren't getting any better.
From his bedroom window, Sebastian could hear Quinn’s voice full of anguish and anger. “All week I've been so stressed out, and you've been more worried about what's going on with Blaine than with me.”
“You've been more concerned with your planning, will you marry me or your itinerary?” Rachel argued.
“Well, if that's how you feel, then why are we doing this?” Quinn sighed.
“I don't know. You tell me.”
Sebastian moved as far away from the window as he could. He would never forgive himself if he ruined his best friend's wedding. He knew what he had to do and for now, Blaine and he needed to make peace for the brides sake.
He knocked on Blaine’s bedroom door twice. When the brunette came out, he was wearing a plaid long sleeved top with matching bottoms. He always looked incredible, even in pyjamas. Sebastian’s throat went dry, but he made an effort to hide it, “There's one last thing we have to do.” It was a short, simple conversation. Blaine was still angry, and he barely kept his reply to himself.
The gray sky was gone and the sun was shining brightly. Everyone was ready to leave, the brides wore their white dresses with veils. The jeeps were decorated with flowers. Quinn and Rachel looked at each other with love and desire, but when Blaine and Sebastian approached, they had to stop for a second.
“Quinn, Rachel...we're jerks. We're so sorry.” Sebastian was the first to speak.
“I'm a horrible brother, and he’s a terrible friend.” Blaine added in a regretful voice. “It's our girls' big day. We won't spoil it, we promise.”
“Uh-huh, but just so you know... if you fuck up today, what I'll be borrowing is a knife.” Rachel looked at them with narrowed eyes, not hesitating for a second.
“And it's shiny and new.” Quinn smiled. She took Rachel’s hand and they walked away.
Blaine and Sebastian felt horrible, that much was certain. Both for being a threat to the wedding and for how things had turned out between them. But that didn't matter for now, they had to go to a wedding together and be happy for Rachel and Quinn.
The wedding took place on a hill overlooking the sea. There were about 60 people, an intimate, but beautiful ceremony. The altar was decorated with an arch of vibrant and lovely flowers. Three women would play the violin and one the cello.
“Rachel, I love you so much, and I don't think I say it enough.” Quinn looked on the verge of tears. “You are the yin to my yang, my peanut butter to my jelly, and I will love you forever.”
“Quinn, I love you with all my heart...that I have nothing left to protest.” she smiled.
Juniper, the dog, brought the rings hanging from an orange ribbon. Both women slid the ring down each other's index finger. And then Frank shouted, “I pronounce you married!”
Blaine and Sebastian looked at each other with depressed eyes and unable to hide their concern at the thought that this would be it.
Things haven't worked out for them. They felt pain, as if they had been hit hard. They were feeling overwhelmed by a million emotions, letting ego and irritation divide them.
At some point during the party, Blaine was fed up with continuing to avoid his parents. He plucked up the courage and decided to confront the situation. “I'm so sorry I lied to you about the job offer in New York. I didn't want to disappoint you again.”
“Well, if you had told us, maybe we could have…”
Blaine cut him off, “Tried to dissuade me?”
“No, maybe we could have supported you.” Pam added.
“I know this is scary for you. Yes, it scares me too and I have to figure it out on my own.” He gave them a reassuring smile.
“I know that from time to time we can be a little…”
“Controlling?”
“No.” they both said.
“Really crazy?”
“Yes.” They both agreed. “That's right, but only because we love you so much.”
“We love you.” Dom hugged him tightly.
The rest of the party flowed better. Everyone danced and laughed, the atmosphere was more relaxed. They were happy, for the most part. Sebastian had had a nice conversation with Pam, it turns out that Mr. and Mrs Anderson really like Sebastian. And then he danced a bit with Puck and the newlyweds, before Kitty arrived and offered to dance with him.
Sebastian wasn't in the mood, he was struggling with a headache, but he didn't want to be disrespectful to Kitty, not after he had lied to her.
“Hey.” Kitty wasted no time in placing both arms around Sebastian’s neck.
“Hi, where's Jake?”
“He took off. Said he saw a wave he morally couldn't not surf. It was never really anything.” Kitty shrugged, showing she was fine with that.
“You and Blaine, he said you were just situational.”
“He said that?” Sebastian forced himself to slow down the dance, to steady himself and breathe.
****
It wasn't the actual circumstances that bothered him. It had been unexpected, but he had simply been in the right place at the right time.
Watching Sebastian dance with Kitty was like... the worst pain he could imagine. But that's how Blaine thought it should be because...Sebastian loved Kitty. And if he had doubts about that before, seeing the kiss they shared was a cruel way to find out he was wrong.
Blaine took one last look at the happy couple, before stepping aside to be cornered by Rachel and Quinn.
“This has been a tough weekend for you.” Rachel smiled at him. “Why don't you go for a walk for a while?”
“Yes, we'll go with you.” Quinn offered their company.
“No, we won't go.” Rachel smiled, but with gritted teeth this time. “I love you, but this is our wedding.”
Blaine just chuckled.
Of course he understood, and besides, Blaine was insisting to be alone. “I might go people-watching. Just not...not these people.” he grimaced gesturing toward Sebastian and Kitty. Blaine hugged them.
Then he took a deep breath and left the party with a lump in his throat that was getting tighter and tighter.
Blaine began to cry inconsolably as he got into the cab.

“I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.” said Sebastian, facing away from Kitty. “But, I'd just been holding on to a memory of you. And also, I'm...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.” he averted his gaze to Blaine, who was walking away.
The man he really loves, but Blaine doesn't love him back. And so Sebastian walked away from Kitty, needing to be alone.
Finding his space on a lonely bench. Sebastian overheard the conversation between Quinn and Rachel.
“I've never seen Blaine like that.” Rachel shared with Quinn. “You were the one who said there's a fine line between love and hate. I know what I'll say will sound crazy but, even when they were killing each other...I've never seen Blaine so happy.”
“The same goes for Sebastian.”
Invaded with his emotions, Sebastian stood up angrily. “Can you guys stop? Just stop.”
“What?” Rachel and Quinn were confused.
“Enough loud talking and whispering. Enough is enough!”
“Honey, we literally didn't even know you were there.” Quinn said.
“Yes, it's true. We didn't know you were listening.” Rachel nodded.
“What is wrong with you? All this weekend you've lied to me, manipulated me, and controlled me!” he shook his head indignantly. “I don't know what's real and what's not.”
“Honey, I know you're confused, but what I said about you and Blaine, it's true.” Quinn nodded, with a warm smile.
Sebastian took a deep breath, he was agitated. “I haven't seen him, is he...?”
“Went for a walk a while ago…” Rachel replied, biting her lower lip trying to hold back the words, but then blurted them out. “After seeing you kissing Kitty.”
“What?” Sebastian was perplexed. “No, I didn't kiss her. Kitty kissed me. I pulled back. I don't want to be with Kitty.” his voice sounded choked with despair.
“Stop.” Pam stepped out from the bushes. “Beautiful idiot. Just run. Don't wait for love. Just fight for it.”
“Do you know where he went?” Sebastian looked at Rachel and Quinn.
“He said he wanted to walk around and watch people.” Rachel replied. “I think it was more of a euphemism for crying alone.”
But he knew it, just as he knew it that very day he saw him walk into that coffee shop. “No, it isn't. I think I know where he is.”
“Oh God, man, Go get him!” Dom encouraged him to look for his son.
Sebastian took a deep breath once more, then began to run toward the cliff, undoing his tie. “CALL HARBOR RESCUE!” Sebastian shouted, before jumping off.
“Sebastian, no!” The family went into despair. “Oh my God.”
But he was fine, he had finally found his moving train. He knew what he had to do and he wanted to fight for it. And even if he wasn't the best swimmer, he would do anything to get to Blaine.
Those last few days, he didn't recognize himself, he had never been shy at all. He was an imposing and powerful man, an influential and respected figure among the most distinguished social and business circles in the country. The epitome of the American dream. And now, he had broken down his barriers, because he was madly in love.
The helicopter arrived and Sebastian asked them to take him to the Sydney Opera House. And although he was terrified, he was more eager to arrive. His love is too valuable a resource to waste.
***
Blaine stood in front of the impressive architectural jewel of organic, curvilinear shapes . He saw all those people in love getting engaged, declaring their love and even getting married. Blaine had opened his eyes, he was ready to believe in love again, even if he had just lost the one person who made him feel a million emotions.
And suddenly, a strong breeze and the sound of a helicopter caught his attention. Blaine saw Sebastian jump out of a helicopter that was a couple of inches off the ground.
He knew Sebastian was afraid of flying, and just imagining the reason he might be there...made him smile hugely. As he watched Sebastian run a long way from the dock, asking permission from people in his path, Blaine felt his trepidation ease.
As Sebastian climbed a long flight of stairs, Blaine noticed that his black suit was wet, as was all of his hair. Blaine couldn't help but blow the air out of his lungs because Sebastian looked as beautiful and elegant as ever. So willing to do whatever he wanted. And he wanted Blaine, just as much as Blaine wanted him.
“I didn't kiss Kitty. She kissed me.” Sebastian was breathing hard. “I know it's a bullshit excuse, but it's the truth.” He took a second to catch his breath. “I couldn't find my moving train. I'm sorry, it's the best I could do.”
“Have you gone insane?” his eyes met Sebastians, with the ghost of a smile. Green eyes with flashes of gold, holding his openly, unflinchingly, an inquisitive depth. Blaine found himself puzzled, recognizing that only Sebastian could see right through him.
“Yes.” his voice had pleasant warm tones. “Because it's been months since we met and I haven't spent every day with you. That's the sign of a crazy person.”
“I hated you. But I didn't really give you a choice.”
“I definitely didn't hate you. Even if you called me a dick.” Sebastian smirked.
“I said you were acting like a dick”
Sebastian shook his head smiling. Taking the courage to acknowledge his mistake. “No, yes I was a dick. The way I handled everything. The way I handled our first night.”
“Yeah, it wasn't really impressive. Why did you leave?” Blaine tilted his head with narrowed eyes.
He took in a long breath before expelling it all through his lips. “I thought you were going to regret it. And I couldn't face the thought of losing another person that I... really love.” he licked his lower lip, nervously.
“Last night was the first thing I haven't regretted in a long time.” Blaine smiled, his cheeks and chest flushed.
Sebastian’s heart was pounding and he could barely catch his breath. He could barely breathe. “I love how we fight. I love how smart you are. And I love how you know what you don't want.” he paused, taking in for a moment. “And if it's not me, Killer...if I don't meet your requirements, if I'm not the one...I get it. Now that would be really fucked up.”
Blaine let the silence become almost unbearable, before smiling seductively. “So, are you going to kiss me now?”
Sebastian placed both hands on Blaine’s cheeks, pulling him close. It was an urgent kiss with passion. Shooting heat through their bodies. Their knees went weak from the softness and sweetness of their lips.
Their tongues joined, and Sebastian clung to Blaine’s waist as the exciting sensations threatened to undo him on the spot.
Blaine smiled and leaned his forehead against Sebastians. His breath was hot against his lips. “That's a lot of running for Mr. No Cardio.”
“Yes, I'm dying. I need air.” he caught Blaine’s lips for another searing kiss. Wanting to kiss him to exhaustion, but Sebastian found he couldn't stop, he didn't want to. All he wanted was to savor, devour and bite his lips for a long time.
When they returned to the wedding, they couldn't keep their hands off each other, losing themselves in the fervor of their kisses and touches. Even the noise of the fireworks didn't keep them away. The only way to get away was to breathe. And when Sebastian heard the DJ playing his song, he pulled his lips away.
Discovering that Blaine had a playful look on his face. He began to sing, not taking his beautiful hazel eyes from his. "You’re insecure, Don’t know what for, You’re turning heads when you walk through the door. " he raised his eyebrows, prompting Sebastian to sing along.
And Sebastian did, "Don’t need makeup, to cover up, being the way that you are is enough.”
“I'm sorry they almost called off their wedding because of our idiocies.” Blaine turned to look at Rachel and Quinn, not releasing his arms from around Sebastian’s neck.
“I saw them arguing on the porch.” Sebastian mentioned.
“No, no, no, we staged a fake fight to make you two feel bad and make up.” Rachel smiled proudly.
“We're puppets.” Sebastian grinned at Blaine.
“Yep.” Blaine smiled, as he rubbed his nose with Sebastians.
