Chapter Text

Ike put an arm around Sasha, pulling the bunny close as a movie Sasha had been wanting to see played on the TV. Ike wasn’t big on horror movies, especially the ones involving demons. There was something about possibly being possessed and controlled by someone else that unnerved him. Not to mention the contortions looking painful.

Sasha, on the other hand, enjoyed horror movies. He had the jump scares down to the exact moment they would happen, and sure some of the movies were cheesy or just plain bad, but Sasha couldn’t help but come back for more.

A bowl of cooling popcorn sat in Sasha’s lap, the seafoam green bunny’s eyes rooted to the screen. It was funny, he used to hate horror movies when he was younger, but now he loved them. Sasha leaned into Ike’s touch, saying, “Oh, it’s my favorite part,”

“I thought you hadn’t seen this?”

“I haven’t,” Sasha replied, watching the female protagonist walk down a dark hallway with a mirror at the end of it. Her only source of light flickering away to nothing. “Jump scares are just predictable,”

Right as Sasha said this, the demon, Ir’ok, flashed in the woman’s reflection with a scream and the mirror shattering.

Ike hummed in reply, turning his attention back to the movie as the scene changed to the protagonist at work.

The movie ended with Sasha yawning, the empty bowl of popcorn in the sink, and the TV switched off. Sasha stretched, getting off the couch as Ike stood as well.

“That was actually a good movie,” Sasha said, moving to head to his room. “All the reviews said it’d be bad,” he continued, flicking the light on in his room.

“Yeah, it was,” Ike mumbled, watching Sasha head into the bathroom.

“Are you spending the night? It’s pretty late, and I know you have plans with Harper and Bonnie tomorrow,” Sasha said, starting the shower.

“Yeah, I can stay the night,” Ike replied, going over to the dark brown dresser and opening the drawer that had some of his clothes in it.

He joined Sasha in the bathroom, steam rising from the shower as Sasha grabbed towels. They showered together, Sasha humming in contentment as Ike washed his back, turning to rinse the suds off himself.

“You never told me what you were seeing Harper and Bonnie for,” Sasha said, watching Ike blush and turn away.

“It’s a surprise,” Ike simply said, keeping his back to his boyfriend.

“Alright,” Sasha said with a chuckle. “A surprise is fine,” he continued, washing Ike’s back and passing him the small towel afterward.

Ike turned back around after rinsing himself, quickly kissing Sasha as he turned the water off. He hummed into the kiss as Sasha kissed him back, grabbing the large towel off the counter as he stepped out of the shower.

Sasha dried off and got dressed in a large Nether Siren shirt and boxers, hopping into bed after he turned the light off and sighed. “Thanks for buying the movie for me, babe,” he said, kissing Ike’s cheek as he settled beside Sasha.

“Of course,” Ike said, putting an arm around Sasha’s waist.

Ike hoped tomorrow would go well.

Ike got up before Sasha the next morning. Kissing Sasha on the cheek as the bunny shifted over to Ike’s side of the bed. He grabbed his keys as he headed to the front door, making sure the door was locked before he headed to Club Ivory.

Harper and Bonnie met Ike in their office, the pair smiling at him as he entered the room.

He smiled back. “Thanks for doing this,” he said. “I know Onyx doesn’t allow last-minute reservations,” he continued, twiddling his thumbs.

“Eh, we have points we aren’t using anyway,” Bonnie said with a shrug. “It’s the least we could do after all,”

Ike nodded, his smile growing as Harper handed him the resort reservation tickets. The resort was in Ocio and Sasha hadn’t had much time to go back and visit his family. So, Ike called in a favor from Harper and Bonnie to get him and Sasha tickets to Onyx for the week.

Ike stood to hug his friends, mumbling, “I really owe you two,”

“Nah,” Harper replied. “Just don’t screw up this proposal and we’re even,” she joked as Ike pulled away.

He bought a ring about three months into his relationship with Sasha. Call him optimistic, but he couldn’t imagine his life without Sasha in it anymore. Ike nodded, checking his phone as he left the club.

His brothers were rapidly texting him, saying how they couldn’t wait to meet Sasha. Alphonse and Eli were his biggest supporters in this. Gaia, he hoped he wouldn’t screw this up.

He went back to Sasha’s home, pulling into the driveway of the light blue home, the tickets secure in his jacket pocket.

He unlocked the door to the smell of crepes and the sight of Sasha dancing and singing along to some pop song in the kitchen.

Ike leaned against the kitchen doorway, simply watching his boyfriend for a moment.

If everything went well, they would be more than boyfriends. Not that Ike was complaining.

Sasha turned, his dark eyes lighting up at the sight of the bear. “How’d your surprise go?” he asked, pausing his music and turning the fire down on the stove.

“Well,” Ike started. “It all depends on your answer,” he continued, showing Sasha the reservation tickets.

Sasha swallowed, staring at the tickets for a moment. He threw himself at Ike, wrapping his arms around Ike’s neck. “I love it,” he said against Ike’s neck. “When do we leave? Who’s all gonna be there?”

“We leave tomorrow morning and come back on Sunday,” Ike replied. “And I have another surprise waiting at the resort,”

Sasha squeaked, pulling Ike down for a short kiss. “I’ll start packing,” he said, turning the stove fire off and leaving the crepes on a plate.

Onyx Resort was everything Sasha hoped it would be. They had a nice view toward the sea that led to Apertura, soft beds, and he was here with his boyfriend.

Sasha snuggled against Ike’s chest as the bear snored, the bunny nearly drifting off back to sleep himself until a knock at the door sounded.

His ears perked up at the sound, the bunny getting out of bed as another series of knocks sounded.

He threw on a shirt and blue jogging pants, moving toward the door as he cleared his throat.

Sasha opened the door, his mouth open as he took in the sight of his mother and father. Claude and Valentine Barrett smiled at their son, pulling him into a hug and Valentine asked, “How have you been, sweetheart?”

“Good,” Sasha replied, swallowing as his eyes burned with unshed tears. “Really good,”

Claude ruffled the top of Sasha’s head, the brown bunny chuckling. “That’s great, son,” he looked around the hotel room as Sasha invited them in. “Where’s Ike?”

“Oh, still sleeping,” Sasha answered. “I should wake him up though, we were supposed to be going to the docks,”

Ike yawned as he stepped out of the room, blinking as he seemingly saw double of Sasha. His gaze focused as he quickly realized he was looking at Sasha’s mother and his boyfriend. Almost as if someone had simply copy and pasted Valentine into Sasha.

“Good morning,” Ike said, clearing his throat. “I’m glad you two could make it,” he continued, shaking Claude’s hand, surprise momentarily on his face as Valentine hugged him.

“Of course, we wouldn’t miss seeing our baby for the world,” Valentine said, letting Ike go. “And his beau,”

“Mom,” Sasha huffed.

“I mean the phone calls didn’t do you justice,” Valentine continued, chuckling. “Honestly, we were expecting someone like Brayden, right, Claude?”

Claude nodded, patting Ike’s arm. “We got lucky,” he joked, winking at Sasha as he blushed.

“Okay, we’re gonna be late if we don’t leave for the docks now,” Sasha said, taking Ike’s hand and leading him out of the room as Ike raised a confused eyebrow.

Sasha hugged Ike, missing the toothy smile Ike had on his face. “Ugh, as much as I love that you invited my parents, I could do without them embarrassing me,” Sasha mumbled, frowning as Ike snorted.

“I think it’s cute,” he replied, squeezing Sasha’s hand. “Come on, we can visit the docks and have lunch with them there,”

Sasha nodded, following behind Ike as he took the lead. The docks were a bit chilly but beautiful all the same with waves crashing against them. Sasha hummed, taking a seat beside his boyfriend as the crashing waves calmed him.

The rest of their week was filled with them trying local food, food Sasha hadn’t had since he was little and barely tall enough to see over the stands.

On Sunday, Ike and Sasha were at the docks again. Ike looked down and over at Sasha as the bunny preoccupied himself with looking for seashells.

It was now or never. “Sasha,” Ike started, catching Sasha’s attention. “I, uh, these past few months with you have been amazing. I can’t, I wouldn’t imagine my life without you in it anymore,” Ike swallowed, taking Sasha’s sandy hand in his own.

“Uh, what I’m trying to say is,” he paused as he bent down on one knee. “Will you marry me?”

Sasha smiled, a snort leaving him as he bit his bottom lip to keep from smiling any harder. “Of course I will, Ike,” he said, wiping his hands on his pants to clean them.

Ike grinned, sweeping Sasha up in his arms. He kissed Sasha, some of his nervousness disappearing as he slid the emerald-encrusted ring onto Sasha’s finger.

Ike kissed his hand, a blush burning onto Sasha’s face. “Ike!”

“What?” Ike asked, smiling as Sasha’s blush intensified.

Sasha glanced around, finding a few people staring at them. “I love you,” he said instead. Who cared if people stared? This was the best week of Sasha’s life.
