Work Text:

You’re on your way home from school when the Major accosts you.

“Perhaps we can continue our discussion. Away from the prying eyes of the commander.” There’s a threat in her voice, and you feel your shoulders hunch up instinctively.

“What’s there to discuss?” you ask, managing to keep your tone light.

“Maybe poisoning the mind of Bajoran children?”

“Oh, is that what I’m doing?” you ask. “I thought I was opening them. Like a real education would.”

“Bajorans don’t need their minds opened, Mrs. O’Brien,” Kira hisses, and suddenly she’s very close. You never realized quite how tall she is, but now she’s crowding you against the nearest wall, hand on your arm, and she looms. “The prophets were all we had for fifty years, Mrs. O’Brien. You don’t need to come in and replace them.”

You’re close enough to see her nostrils flare. You feel her breath against your lips. Your mouth is dry, and oh god, there’s a heat starting in your lower belly. Miles isn’t the one who needs to be kept on his toes. Shame burns across your face, and your only hope is that she can’t read it.

“I- alright, Major,” you stammer, and she draws back with a nod.

“Good.”
