Chapter Text

This chapter will be told in the third person.

As the final bell rang, Ms. Alphys started saying something about the group project and homework. Kris and Susie weren't really listening, they were just leaving. When they went outside to the parking lot, they were greeted by two humans, and four monsters. It was the two humans Kris had mentally nicknamed the Twin Tones, and the two rich Noble Nestlings. Next to them, was that bird from earlier, and... some kind of little blue goblin?

The squinting yellow human greeted them with a, "Hi!" They were all smiling, save for the bluebird and the pale human. Kris started, "What do you..." Kris stopped themself from calling them "Nuts and Dolts," continuing with, "... uhh... Individuals... want?" Yellow-face looked like they knew they were about to call them something, but wasn't expecting something as tame as "Individuals." The yellow one then said, "Well, earlier in class, you said we could come over to study with you two?" Kris seemed puzzled. "We did?"

Just 37 minutes earlier.

Chara protested, hissing, "Frisk, don't!" as Frisk turned their whole body in their chair to Kris and Susie. "Hey, do you guys wanna study with me and my friends? My dad owns the apartment complex you live at, so we can go there." Kris, who didn't seem to be paying attention to anything other than the strange symbols they were writing in, just mumbled, "Yeah, thanks." Frisk then said, "Great! I'll ask our mom to give us a ride there, and tell my dad that I'm coming over."

Now

Kris mumbled an "Oh... That's what you were saying..." They all started to introduce themselves as they walked to Ms. Toriel's van in the parking lot. Chara called, "Shotgun!" and Frisk got into the back of the van with the others. They tried to strike up conversation. "So, what's the craziest thing you've ever done?" Kris and Susie looked over at each other, knowing that if they told the truth, they would be arrested and revealed as vigilantes, so they tried to come up with something. Susie knew to try and follow Kris's lead, as Kris started talking. "I... one time, when me and Susie first tried skating, I fell over, and landed on a knife sticking out of a garbage bag. I still have the scar." Lancer then said, "No way! Can we see it?" Kris then slightly lifted up their shirt to show a space where they only had one, small stabbing scar. It was from when a thug used a knife to stab them and run away, which is why they had planned to use it.

All of them except Berdly and Susie let out a gasp of awe, and Ralsei asked, "Did it hurt?" Kris seemed confused. "No? It's just a dinky little knife. Not like I got shot or something," as they pulled their sweater down. "Did you?" He asked, and Susie said, "Yeah! We've been shot a ton of times!" And Toriel hit the brakes, her head snapping to look back at them. "WHAT!?" she exclaimed, as Kris elbowed Susie in the spleen, as if saying, "They're not supposed to know that shit!" and she winced, rubbing her side, with an "Ow..." Kris then said, "She was just trying to impress them." Susie then went, "Hey!" as they glared at her, and she stopped. Ms. Toriel then sighed and went back to driving when she realized she was holding up a green light.

Kris then said, "Well, she did survive getting hit by a car when we were younger, and on the streets, but it was a long time ago, and a relatively small car." Kris then continued, "When we got to the hospital, it was Mister Dreemurr who ended up paying for her surgery." Frisk then asked, "What was the date?" Kris told them, "July 12. 2164." Frisk then said, "I was in the hospital with a broken arm that day! He said he payed for someone else's surgery who was the same age as me and Chara!" Though nobody could see their eyes due to the pitch black sunglasses, and nobody could see their forehead because of their bangs, they somehow knew they were raising their eyebrows in surprise. Maybe it was because they could see that their mouth was ajar from surprise. "Wow. He... Actually started to let us live in room 3 the night after, when she got out, and he found out we didn't have anywhere to go." Chara then said, "He has a habit of being nicer than his health should demand. Also, you said she was hit by a car, how did she get out so quickly?" Doubting Kris's story. "Healing factor. It was the same night she was tested and we found out that she's a category 2 mutant." Kris then leaned towards her. "You could've just said that if you wanted to impress them." Susie, still rubbing her side, said "Yeah, I guess..."

Miss Toriel pulled up at the front, and let them all get out, clearly wanting to drive away as soon as possible. "Bye! Have fun! Do not do anything I would not do!" before driving away as soon as Mr. Dreemurr opened the door. He went up to Frisk and Chara. Chara was shaking their head and going "No-no-no-no-n-!" and they two were swept up by a crushing bear hug. "URRGGHH!" Chara groaned. Kris stifled a laugh. Susie didn't stifle hers. We went into the store, where we saw Papyrus at the cash register, while Sans mopped the floor.

"Hey, kiddos, how ya doin'?" Frisk then went to talk to him with a smile. Kris and Susie went to grab the group some snacks. They were joined by Noelle, who spoke to the two as if she were nervous. "H-hey, you two!" Her nose was glowing a little red. "You guys, uhh..." she was practically squeaking. "You know, since it's a space-themed project, we could have snacks like Andromeda Bars, or Star Chips, or, uhh..." Susie then said, with her classic dumb grin, "Or pancakes!" Holiday looked up at her with bewilderment, expecting her idea to have been space-themed, before looking down at Kris with a look that said, "Is this a joke?" Kris then said their idea. "Moon Pies? Or, cheese and crackers, because the moon is made of cheese?" Susie looked down at Kris, surprised. "It IS!?" Kris looked back up at her, saying, "No, I meant like, the old kid's misconception." Susie seemed disappointed. "I knew being an astronaut would've sucked." Kris then said, "For more reasons than the moon being made of rocks." As Noelle started to grab some of the things, frantically. "It'sokayIcanpayforit." She said, a bit faster than the two could process. Kris just grabbed the pancake mix.

When they finished paying, (Or rather, when Noelle and Ralsei finished deciding who would pay, and that they would split it,) they all went up to Apartment 3. Berdly was behind Noelle, whispering, badly, "We shouldn't be associating ourselves with these delinquents. We can-" Kris opened the front door, and they saw, on the coffee table, between the TV and the couch, a fucking M1911 with a 2143 Surpressorco cylindrical suppressor, an extended 20rd magazine, and a reflex sight. Kris and Susie cringed intensely at it, realizing Susie forgot to put her emergency pistol away after cleaning it last night. "Excuse us!" The two said at the same time, as they went into the apartment, and put everything away. Susie's pistol on the coffee table, putting it in her room under her pillow, Kris's 8 gauge pump-action on the counter, who panicked and put it in the fridge, and the collection of throwing knives in Kris's room.

They opened up the door to the six teens, who still all looked shocked, before Kris said, "Sorry. Don't tell the cops. Please." Surprisingly, they all still came inside. Susie said, our casa is Su's casas." She said, in frankly, not very good Spanish. Frisk said, "I... Love what you've done with the place..." Looking at the wall covered in pictures of illegal vigilantes from the past, then the posters of different artists and bands, such as Killet, Bring Me The Skyline, Blink-169, Washingten Park, Sam B, and... Taylor Speed? They weren't really expecting that one in the middle of the rest, but it's a nice surprise.

Frisk started, "You guys like Taylor Speed? Are you a Speeder?" Kris said, "It's good music. And I agree, it's so tiring, always cheering on the Vigilante." Chara looked at the Sam B poster. "Can you believe he was Wrath the whole time?" Kris deadpanned, "Yes. Same scale color, same eye color, same hair color, and he has the same scar on the bridge of his nose." As the rest of the group began hanging up their backpacks and heading to the kitchen table, Kris pulled Susie away for a second.

They took her as far from the others at the table as they could, whispering. "They seem like brainy kids. We could let them do the brunt of the work while we work on stopping Kingpin and The Jevil." Susie then blurted out, "JEV-!?" before Kris slammed her mouth shut with both their hands. They looked over their shoulder at the others, who were all looking at them, shocked. When they all went back to their studies, Kris looked back at her and let her mouth go. "And don't blurt shit like that out when there are people here." Susie pushed their arms away, before whispering, "You never said we were going after Jevil!" she hissed. Kris then whispered, "I did, at lunch today." Susie gave them an incredulous look. "You said you were gonna shoot Jevil with a Germanium Bullet." Kris replied, "I never said I was gonna do it alone." Susie hissed, "You never said I was gonna help you do it either!" Kris hissed back, "I thought that was a given!

Berdly then asked, "Are you guys going to study, or just keep hissing at each other like feral cats?" This was replied to with two glares. Susie baring her teeth with a scowl, and Kris just staring a hole through him. He whimpered, "Never mind, it's fine." As the two finished up and went to the table. "So, what's the project?" Kris asked. Noelle told them, "We have to make a presentation about the Solar System." Kris scoffed, "Child's play." Berdly, quickly demonstrating that he hadn't actually learned his lesson piped up with a, "Maybe because Ms. Alphys knew we were getting new students who've never seen the inside of a textbook before." Susie growled, but Kris simply brushed it off and said, "Yeah, whatever. Help yourself to anything in the fridge." Without saying a thank you, Berdly went to the fridge, opening it up. He started to reach for a can of MTN Brew, when he saw, behind the milk jug, the barrel of Kris's shotgun. He slowly looked over his shoulder at Kris, who said, "There's more in the pantry," though it was clear they weren't only talking about soda and snacks.

Berdly closed the fridge, and placed his can of MTN Brew on the table. His voiced cracked as he uttered a, "... Sorry." Frisk, who hadn't seen the shotgun, asked Kris and Susie, "So, you said my dad took you in 3 years ago? How did you and Susie meet each other?" The others looked up from their astronomy textbooks at the two with intrigue, though Berdly looked at them more with fear and caution. Susie started, "It was a dark and stormy night..." Kris then said, "Well, it was actually sprinkling in the sunrise," Susie then said, "Yeah, it was 5 in the morning." Kris continued, "We were only 8 at the time. I needed shelter from the rain, so I ducked in an alley behind a dumpster." Susie then told her part of that, "I was following a turtle." Kris then said, "I saw her, trying to feed that turtle a worm." This earned a laugh from Lancer. Susie said, "I thought it was a cockroach? Wait, no, yeah, it was a worm. Ungrateful little bastard didn't even try it, either!" Kris said, "I was taller back then." Susie added, "We didn't know our own birthdays, so we just agreed to make it that day." Kris then said, "March 26." Susie added, "We stuck together after that, watched each other's backs, studied from books in libraries, punched each other to increase our pain tolerances and make ourselves cry and look more miserable--- Beaten up, so people would give us more money and food." Kris added, "That method's also how we got the pistol from earlier." Susie nodded, "Yeah, it was nighttime, and we were approached by a human guy with yellow eyes. He woke us up, and I thought it was all over when he pulled out the gun, but he just put it in our little can, handle sticking out." Kris said, "When some other guy was throwing bottles at us, we pulled it out, and he ran off when we shot at him. Missed, but we still shot at him." Susie then replied, "We probably just should've let only one of us shoot it instead of trying to do it at the same time."

The others looked surprised. Lancer said, "Then what happened?" Kris and Susie responded with, "Another time."

Will Kris and Susie reveal more about their backstory to their new friends? Will Berdly get his ass shot? Will the two young vigilantes tell the truth that they actually DID fucking waste that guy? Find out next time on... DRAGON BA- Wait, wrong universe.
