Chapter Text
“No, No, No…” You whined as you struggled to keep the tears from falling. It couldn’t be possible, it just wasn’t.
“Dove?” Keigo called out suddenly, knocking on the door to the bathroom and making you jump slightly, “Are you almost ready? We will miss our flight if you take too much longer and I don’t wanna miss it. Just me and you, our second honeymoon. Bora Bora is supposed to be real nice.”
You swallowed hard at his words, your eyes wide as you stared in horror at the small white stick you were currently holding. You weren’t quite sure how the fuck it was possible, scrolling through your period tracker and calendar until a sudden realization hit you in the face, causing you to curse under your breath.
You’d been so busy with travel and the tournament that you’d completely forgotten about getting your shot redone. This of course meant that the stick with two very dark pink lines that you were currently holding was real.
You were fucking pregnant.
You tried your hardest to push down your panic, unsure of what your next step was. You’d been married for such a short time and besides his damn breeding kink, you’d never talked about actually having kids. You both were away so often for work and there was so much travel during certain parts of the season-
“Dove?” He called again and you took a breath, forcing yourself to calm slightly and stop the downward spiral you’d been on. There was no avoiding it now, you’d fucked up and he at least needed to know.
You stood, walking towards the bathroom door with measured steps. You unlocked it slowly, swinging it open with shaky hands and sucking in a deep breath as you met his gaze.
“Actually,” You said, your voice sounding strained, even to your own ears, “It’s the three of us.”
He furrowed his brows, tilting his head as he looked at you in bewilderment. “Uh, Dove? Me and you and I might be a stupid baseball player and not a mathematician, but I’m pretty sure one plus one is two.”
“Yeah well, try two plus one,” you mumbled as you shoved the pregnancy test into his hands, pushing past him to grab the handle of your suitcase with a soft sigh.
He blinked down in the pregnancy test in confusion, tilting it this way and that, until the understanding finally registered. His wings flared, fluffing up as he sucked in a large breath, eyes so disgustingly wide as he turned to look at you.
“You’re-”
“Pregnant.” You finished the sentence, nerves turning your stomach so hard you could puke.
Or was it morning sickness?
Jesus, that thought was enough to make you want to puke on its own.
“Pregnant…” he repeated, his voice shaky as he looked at you, his wings finally folding against his back. ““But how… I mean, how did this happen?”
You chuckled softly, trying to ease the tension that had settled between you. “You do remember how babies are made, right?”
His eyes widened even further, if that was possible, and then he burst out laughing, the sound rich and full of relief. “Oh my God, Dove! We’re really going to have a baby!”
“You’re…not upset?” You asked, your heart pounding as he moved to embrace you tightly.
“Course not,” he whispered back, resting his head on top of yours. “I was honestly hoping it wasn’t the two of us for much longer anyway. I wanted to talk to you about it on our trip, but I guess we were ahead of the game.” he chuckled, eyes sparkling as he quickly gave you a soft kiss. “Look, I’m more than happy for it to be three instead of two, but we can talk more about it on the plane, okay? We really do need to get going.”
He let you go and you couldn’t help but smile as you gathered your backpack and bags, watching as he gently placed the test on his night stand with a soft smile before grabbing his own things. This wasn’t how you’d expected the conversation to go, but you were at least pleasantly surprised. You would take this result over an entire breakdown anyday.
“You ready to go, Dove?” he asked, coming over and grabbing your hand. “Well you and my little grand slam in there,”
You let out a groan, rolling your eyes so hard you were sure they’d get stuck. “You are the absolute fucking worst.”
