He had been searching for so long...
He finally had a lead. Finally might be able to get his revenge.
So why did his heart pound so much as he stepped toward Disrace? The Hashillien stared at him, no sign of emotion on his face.
Did he remember? Did he know who he was? Or was he just another person that he hurt in the grand scheme of things?
Genba didn't know. Didn't want to know. Well maybe he did. He wanted acknowledgement. Wanted Disrace to admit what he did. And then he wanted to make him beg for mercy and forgiveness.
The two stared at each other, unmoving for a long time. Genba finally moved, transforming. That got a reaction out of Disrace. Amusement.
The look on his face made Genba even more angry. How dare he... How dare he look at him like that after everything he had done!
Genba ran forward, colliding his weapon with Disrace. The Hashillien had no issue deflecting his attack and shoving him backward. Genba stumbled, but remained standing. He let out a growl and rushed forward once more.
Disrace sidestepped. Genba stumbled as his weight hit nothing as anticipated. He let out a yelp as he crashed to the ground from gravity doing what it does best.
Before he had a chance to even think of getting back to his feet, a hand was on him, dragging him into the air. Disrace was smirking at him as he placed a hand on his throat. Genba tensed.
"Is this really how tough the Boonboomgers are?" Disrace taunted, before sending Genba flying backwards and into a wall.
Genba groaned in pain as he sunk to the ground. The force of the blow shattering his transformation, leaving him more exposed. Disrace was on him before he could react, already shoving him harder to the ground. A foot stomped onto his back, making him gasp.
"Looks like this is the end of the road for you, Boonboomger."
Genba clenched his hands into fists. Couldn't Disrace say his name? Did he not know him? Was he really nobody to this monster?
He tried to get back up, but the foot on him just shoved him back down. He was stuck. At this horrible fiends mercy. Genba hated this more than he bet anyone could imagine.
He lost everything to this monster. And now was he really going to lose his life to him as well?
This couldn't be how he went out...
Genba braced for impact. There was nothing more he could do. He had bit off more than he could chew... and now it was going to cost him his life.
The weight vanished from him, a sound of surprise leaving Disrace's mouth. Genba looked up, his eyes widened slightly as he saw what was happening.
"Seems like you could use a hand." Sakito was standing between him and Disrace, already transformed.
Genba bit back a retort. Sakito let out a laugh at his silence and then faced Disrace fully. "You're going to get it for hurting him."
"Oh really?" Disrace laughed.
Sakito rushed forward, only to be met with nothing. Disrace had vanished. Sakito looked around, letting out an annoyed groan.
'Come on, man! I wanted to fight!" He whined out loud.
He let out a sigh and then untransformed and walked over to Genba. He crouched down, looking him over.
"You've seen better days."
"Couldn't tell." Genba grumbled.
"Come on. Let's get ya patched up." Sakito didn't wait for an answer and drug him to his feet.
Genba had no choice but to accept the help and lean against him. He could barely keep himself standing.
"Apologies, but you know where I gotta take you." Sakito said, starting to move.
Genba just gritted his teeth. He didn't want to go back to the base. Unfortunately, it wasn't like he could do much in his state. He'd end up on the ground in seconds if he dared let go of the support.
Sakito drug him to the base. Genba was relieved to see it was empty at the moment. At least no one else had to see him in such a pitiful state.
Sakito helped him to the couch and then dug around to find where the first aid kit had ended up. Once he found it, he began to tend to whatever wounds he could see. Genba sat there silently, wincing in pain every now and again.
He was trying to not let his resentment over the situation show. He felt pathetic. How could this have been the state he ended up in?
And how much worse it could have been if Sakito hadn't been there...
"Revenge plan not going that smoothly, huh?" Sakito spoke.
Genba glared at him. Sakito smiled.
"Come on. Don't I deserve a few words of thanks for saving you?"
Genba averted his gaze, letting out a huff. He didn't ask to be saved.
Sakito shook his head at the behavior and patted his shoulder. "Well, all patched up. I guess you're gonna dash before anyone else shows up."
Genba tried to stand, but found his legs too unsteady and sunk back into the couch. He let out a frustrated sigh.
"Oh. Guess you're not going anywhere, huh?"
How Genba wished he could wipe that smug look off of Sakito's face right about now.
Sakito sat down next to him, casually draping an arm around his shoulders. "Looks like you're stuck with me then."
"Why don't you go do whatever you were doing before?" Genba shot back.
"I was looking for you. Goal accomplished."
"Why?"
"Keeping you out of trouble. That's my job."
"No one asked you to."
"You wouldn't still be breathing if I hadn't."
Genba opened his mouth, but found no words to say. He closed his mouth and turned away.
"What? You had a death wish or something?" Sakito prodded him.
Genba let out a quiet sigh and spoke softly. "I... just hate this is how it went..."
"Ah, words!" Sakito nudged him. "Looks like Disrace is a bit harder to deal with than anticipated."
"I'm not asking for help." Genba was firm.
"Aww... come on. Let us help. He's our enemy too."
"We have different reasons to want him dead. I want to do this alone."
"And end up dead next time?"
"I'll be stronger."
"Keep telling yourself that."
"Shut up!"
"Make me~" Sakito taunted.
Genba glared at him, and then looked away. "Just stop talking about this..."
"Alright. So... whatcha wanna talk about instead?"
