Chapter Text
The next day at school as I sit with Alex and Magnus at our lunch table staring out of the window, I sense a presence standing next to me. I look up at Magnus and Alex staring at the person behind me with their mouths hanging wide open.
I swivel in my chair and stare at the person behind me. It is Piper of course.
“Can I sit with you guys?” she asks, smiling at my cousin and his girlfriend.
Magnus and Alex, still in shock, can only respond by bobbing their heads up and down.
“Hey Piper, what’s up?” I ask, looking at her bright pink “Hello Kitty” crop top.
“Well if you hadn’t noticed I am in fact the new girl on campus, not only that, but I also happen to be the daughter of a famous actor so I am a hot commodity on the lunch table market,” she says rolling her eyes.
“Unfortunately, you’ve chosen some of the most boring people in school to talk to, but I guess that means we won’t try to use your notoriety for our own personal gain,” I say.
“Speak for yourself Annabeth, I want to meet some movie stars,” Alex says with entirely too much maniac energy in her eyes.
“She’s joking,” Magnus quickly interjects.
“Am I?” Alex says looking at Magnus with the most chaotic grin I’ve ever seen.
“Anyways…Piper, how was your morning?” I ask, changing the subject.
“Ugh, just the boring school stuff. Everyone knows that the best part of school is getting to socialize, otherwise it's so boring. I hate not being able to talk to anyone my own age when I’m on set with my dad. The only teenagers on set are the teen actors and there is a big difference between being a teen actor and being a teen with an actor for a parent.”
“I mean, we’re as normal of teens as you can get,” Magnus says.
This isn’t entirely true. I mean sure, we don’t have actors for parents or anything, but our lives are anything but what would be considered “normal” by society's expectations. I live with my aunt and cousin in Boston while my father, stepmother, and stepbrothers are in Virginia. Alex lives with friends because her family kicked her out. She was so close to not being able to find somewhere she would be able to sleep with a roof over her head, which is unfortunately common. People who don’t know anyone who is in a similar situation wouldn’t consider Alex’s situation “normal”. None of us have two married parents with a white picket fence and a golden retriever that is considered to be the baseline life that everyone should have.
“So what do you guys do around here for fun?” Piper asks.
“You’re asking the wrong people,” Magnus replies.
“Depends on how many laws you want to break,” Alex says.
Magnus playfully smacks Alex’s arm.
“What you know it's true?” Alex laughs looking at Magnus.
“So I take it you’re the fun one out of the three of you guys?” Piper asks Alex.
“Who’s to say that Magnus and I aren’t any fun?” I say.
“Trust me they aren’t,” Alex says.
“Traitor! I think my cousin and I are plenty of fun,” Magnus says defending our honor.
“I guess we’ll just have to see about that!” Piper challenges.
“Well I can prove to you just how fun we are, you can come to our party Friday night that Annabeth and I are hosting,” Magnus says in reply.
“Deal!” Piper yells, sticking her hand out for Magnus to shake.
“Deal!” he yells back, shaking Piper’s hand.
Great, now I am apparently co hosting a party that is going to be attended by the daughter of a famous actor who has probably been to parties so outrageous I couldn’t even conjure them with my wildest imaginations.
