his god does not exist only at the bottom of a bottle. he knows as he knows the rounds of his beads that his god is a father, and he knows he was a father once too; this is a familiar pain.
the bible never spoke of how god must have wept to see his son on the cross. are the monitors keeping rhythmic vigil over buck's healing body the centurions or the angels?
the rosary twists between his hands like the prayer he keeps tucked behind his ribs, soft clicks in bated silence. he'd look heavenward but his god is right here.
