Work Text:
The riverbank felt so peaceful in that moment. Moondae was lying down on the grass, eyes closed, feeling the soft breeze and listening to the sound of water as it trickles down the small stream. Beside him was Seon Ahyeon, his teammate and his close friend, knitting away with his ball of yarn. Today, it was just the two of them, the others had schedules and no one else was available to join them on their little picnic outing. While he did enjoy the company of his other teammates, he also enjoyed the tranquility he felt when it was just him and Ahyeon. Ahyeon was quiet and gentle, he did not trouble Moondae with pranks or jokes unlike some others (*cough* Keun Sejin *cough*), and Moondae liked that about him.
Opening his eyes, Moondae glanced to his left, observing Ahyeon who was engrossed in finishing the stuffed puppy he was making. It was cute how he scrunched up his eyebrows to focus more on his needles. Moondae also brought along something to amuse himself with: a camera. Now, it is his own hobby, something that he does simply because he enjoys it. He had hoped to capture the beautiful scenery this riverbank has to offer.
He grabbed the camera from his bag and set it up to start taking some pictures. Moondae snapped a number of photos of the small, flowing river. He then took some pictures of some flowers swaying in the wind. He wanted to photograph the tree next, the one they were sitting underneath of, providing them shade. However, as he captured the photo, he noticed that Ahyeon had wandered into the frame. In the bottom left corner, he was sitting, still concentrated on his knitting.
It was an ethereal image, and Moondae knows it. He really is effortlessly photogenic, he thinks. Moondae’s finger hovers over the button on his camera, he adjusts the focus for a bit, and started taking more photos. Each image reveals different sides to Ahyeon’s beauty. Ahyeon who was absorbed in his work, was unaware of Moondae’s photos.
It’s not like he was trying to hide, but when Ahyeon suddenly looked up at him, realising what he was doing, Moondae panicked a little bit. He did not want to admit it, but Moondae is a bit embarrassed being caught secretly taking photos of his friend.
“Umm, a-are you t-taking photos of me?” Ahyeon asked, slightly blushing. He was also slightly embarrassed.
“Sorry, about that. You just looked pretty.” Moondae replied with a straight face.
“O-oh! No n-need to be sorry! Y-you can take m-more pictures if you want!” Ahyeon became even more flustered, hearing Moondae call him pretty. Really, you would think that someone like Ahyeon, who had the position of ‘Main Visual’ in his group, would be used to hearing someone praising his looks.
“Really?”
“Yes, you can!” Smiling softly, Ahyeon continues “I think M-moondae takes really great p-pictures.”
“Thanks.”
They spent the rest of the afternoon time on the riverbank, having an impromptu photoshoot. Ahyeon would shyly smile at the camera, and Moondae would click the shutter. Sometimes, Ahyeon would try to take the photos, while Moondae became the model. It was an enjoyable time, the boys taking turns, laughing and giggling at some of the photos that didn’t turn out as expected.
When evening finally came, and it was time for them to return to the dorms, they walked slowly side by side, scanning through the numerous photos that they took of each other. Moondae was pleased with the photos that were taken. Walking slowly, the boys enjoyed the moment under the setting sun until they reached their dorm, satisfied with today’s events.
“Let’s do this again Ahyeon.”
“Yes, I e-enjoyed today a lot.” He replied, with a smile that was so sweet, it could melt any normal person.
