Work Text:
F’nuri was running on instinct. The only thing his chromasight or any training could not help him with. The Miqo’te was on a mission, surveying the rocks around him, pickaxe over his shoulder. Today he wasn’t the (allegedly) Azure Dragoon or even an adventurer. He was just a miner with a contract.
“Ah!” F’nuri smiled. “There you are.” He’d finally found his quarry and went to work.
Eliza raised a brow when F’nuri came home. It was quite clear to her that her partner had been out mining with as dirty as he was. “Been a while since you’ve done anything for the Miners’ Guild,” she said.
“Wasn’t exactly doing it for the Guild.” He went to the kitchen, getting Geriel’s attention and holding up the small sack in his hand.
The Au Ra teen’s face brightened. “You found them!”
“Told you I would,” he signed as he spoke since his son was hard of hearing due to the condition F’nuri and Erynion had found him in. “Have I ever broken my word?”
Geriel shook his head as he took the sack and looked in it.
“Did I get enough crystals for you?”
“More than enough. Thanks, Dad!” Geriel went to hug him, but hesitated.
“You can hug me when I get cleaned up.”
The boy beamed before running back to continue what he was doing.
Eliza had gone downstairs, walking into their room as F’nuri was dressing.
“That was sweet of you.”
“He ran out of crystals and I told him I’d mine some for him. I may not do much with the Guild nowadays, but I will dust off the pickaxe for my son.”
She smiled, pulling him to her level to kiss him. “And this is what makes you a wonderful father.”
F’nuri chuckled. “I hope so.”
