What can the moon offer to the sun, if the sun already has everything it needs.
Maybe what the moon doesn't realize is that its presence is all the sun wants.

Sasuke is put on a team with Naruto and Sakura, he doesn't pay any mind to them. He is only focused on his own goals.
Naruto is put on a team with Sasuke and Sakura, he doesn’t like having to work with the other boy who doesn't seem to acknowledge him.

Sasuke watches Naruto get stronger after they are put on a team together, he sees the nine tails chakra for the first time. He needs to get stronger than him.
Naruto watches Sasuke grow stronger. Others think he’s jealous of the Uchiha and maybe he is, but deep down, part of Naruto knows it's not jealousy. Deep down he knows his admiration for his teammate, he goes off to train with Jiraiya. He hopes he can catch up to Sasukes level.

Naruto gets even stronger than he was before, Sasuke quickly realizes this. Sasuke can’t obtain the training and strength he needs to kill his older brother, so he leaves. He doesn’t pay any mind to the people who beg him not to leave or try to bring him back.
Sasuke is stronger than he was before, Naruto thinks. Even after his training with Jiraiya, Naruto doesn’t think he is at Sasuke’s level. Then, Sasuke leaves the village. Sakura was there when he left and begged him not to, Naruto hears. He decides that he will bring Sasuke back, no matter what.

Sasuke decides he needs to kill Naruto, it's a connection that's keeping him from getting stronger. He decides to not ponder on the implications that have and focuses on his task. In the end, he comes out the victor of the fight, but he can't bring himself to kill the boy in front of him.
Naruto finds Sasuke again after searching, they engage in a serious battle that Sasuke ends up winning. Naruto wakes up in the hospital, with only memories of what happened and the other boy's headband, which he promises to himself to keep.

Sasuke runs into Naruto again after two years of being with Orochimaru, seeing the boy again ignites something within him. Naruto looks different, he is taller and wearing a different outfit and Sasuke thinks he must have been out in the sun more because his tan is darker than before. Sakura is also there, along with apparently their new teammate. Sasuke ignores both of them, only focusing on Naruto. It seems the other boy is doing that also. At Least he thinks, as he watches Sakura try to talk to Naruto, only to not receive a response. Naruto’s eyes were trained on Sasuke and Sasuke only.
Naruto meets Saskue again after two years of training with Jiraiya. Sasuke is different then before, he seems more in control of his emotions then before. His hair is just a little longer than before and his outfit has completely changed, his open shirt falling slightly off his shoulder as the wind blows by. His eyes are more empty than before. Naruto thinks someone is talking to him but he keeps his eyes on Sasuke's form, he can see Sasuke evaluate his teammates before his eyes settle back on Naruto. The eye contact makes Naruto shiver, which he’s sure Sasuke caught. In the blink of an eye Sasuke is standing right next to him, arm on Naruto's shoulder. Naruto looks over to maintain eye contact, it feels like they're the only two in the world, even if Naruto can distantly hear Sakura’s voice.

Sasuke assembles his personal team of shinobi and starts his own mission. He barely survives his fight with the Akatsuki member, Deidara. He’s bandaged and told to rest by his team until Karin barges in and tells them people are coming. Sasuke knows that its leaf shinobi, he also knows that running into them would mean running into Naruto. The idea of seeing Naruto again makes his heart beat a little faster, but they dont end up crossing paths.
Lady Tsunade tells Naruto and Sakura that Orochimaru has been killed by Sasuke, and that Sasuke has no intention of coming back to the village. Naruto, with the rest of team Yamato, Kakashi, and team Kurenai (minus, well, Kurenai) are sent out to find Itachi and capture him. They are also told that Sasuke will likely be there. Naruto sticks with Yamato, Hinata, and Kakashi’s ninja hound Bull, even though he has to force himself not to run off. He’s not as stupid as some think he is, he knows that he is at risk for being a jinchuriki. They end up splitting up and Naruto runs into Sasuke's brother, Itachi. The man's words catch him off guard.
“Why are you so obsessed with my brother.”
Naruto doesn’t respond, he doesn’t think he even knows the answer. Itachi turned out to only be a shadow clone, the others appear after Itachi’s clone disperses. Naruto doesn’t tell them what happened, but he thinks they know somethings off, if the way the look at him is anything to go off of. They dont end up finding the real Itachi or Sasuke, but they do gather more intel and now know that Sasuke isnt traveling alone.

The fourth great ninja war is over, everything is different. Sasuke succeeded in killing Itachi, Danzo had been dealt with, and he had fought the kage. Naruto had saved the leaf village from pain and had avenged Jiraiya’s death. Now Sasuke and Naruto have crossed paths.
They have their final fight at The Valley Of The End, where they're found by Sakura. They’re each missing an arm. They’re transported to the hospital, Sasuke is taken to a cell shortly after. Naruto can't stand the idea of losing him right after he got back. Sasuke isn’t imprisoned for long, he decides to go on missions for the village and tie loose ends from the war. Naruto watches him go again, clinging to the fact that Sasuke has to come back eventually.
He isn’t sure what he would do if Sasuke left again, but he does know that like before, he would chase after him.

A solar eclipse, when the sun and moon reunite and embrace each other. It doesn’t last long, yet it's enough for them. The promise that they will meet again goes unsaid.
