Work Text:
Chaos, that's all this was. Screaming humans ran, trying to avoid the cracking ground, murderous robots, and the strange tentacles sweeping around the world. However, there was one, one that had seemingly got away. Now, X made her way, running, towards cover behind a nearby car that had been abandoned. X quickly uncurls her arms from the child turned worker drone in her arms, who was trembling and crying, clinging to X, her visor full of fear. The Disassembly Drone pulled up her last interaction with the child's father, of whom had saved X from a junkyard. So she wouldn't be found, or hacked, the eccentric (insane) scientist had completely overturned her coding. It did help when all of the nearby worker drones had suddenly froze and the world turned a vivid red from fire, and they'd just... Transformed, taking X with them. X, however didn't go so mindless, she still had full control of herself- and her objective. Clutching the child closer to her, the memory replays in her visor again.
"X! Please! Take Lucy and run!"
X watched in horror as the scientist screams, the Drone above him ripping into his body.
She replayed it again.
Again.
Again.
You failed him.
He reprogrammed you to protect the both of them.
You didn't fail Lucy, though, a small voice spoke, not yet.
With the sudden burst of inspiration and determination, X puts the memory to the side and peers around her. The other Drones has surrounded them, the large x's on their visors glowing vividly through the fire, ash and smoke.
Lucy is your prime directive. Keep her safe.
X sees a spaceship past all the visors.
Perfect.
That'll be safe.
