Donovan Rocker takes care of Eddie Diaz

Work Text:

"Donovan? Eddie?" Erika's calls out, and people hear a 'FUCK!' and 'Ow!' People giggle.

"Eddie," Donovan whines, a disgruntled glint in his eye. Eddie responds with a mischievous smile, and their banter entertains the onlookers.

"Erika, Alexis, and Nora. How are you, ladies?" Eddie asks his husband's team. His tone is warm and loving, and he's happy to see them.

"We're good, Eddie. How are you?" Nora, the caring team member, asks him.

"I'm in a better spot. How is S.W.A.T?" Eddie asks them. He feels Donovan tugging him closer, and Eddie kisses his cheek. The three women smile at them.

"S.W.A.T.'s good. Hard but good. We miss Rocker, but we know you need him more," Erika tells him. Eddie leans on him.

"In two weeks, you will have Donovan back," Eddie tells them. The women brighten.

"Get back to work!" Donovan orders his team. Everyone around them giggles as they see Donovan drag Eddie away. Once home, Donovan holds Eddie close.

"I'm okay, Don. You got me in time," Eddie tells him.

"Are you going back as a firefighter?" Donovan asks. Eddie lays his hand on his lap.

"No, I'm being transferred to the 217 to work as a full paramedic. I'll work out of Harbor and go from there. Tommy will be there, so the department will align our schedules so that we can work together," Eddie tells him. Donovan smiles.

"Is he still with Buck?" Eddie asks, scared. Donovan plays with his hair.

"Yes, and found out that you tried to kill yourself. Tommy isn't giving him any more, and then you're alive and doing well. Chris came back with your parents. They're living in LA now. Your sisters, abuela and Pepa, have been trying to see where you are. Tommy and Buck have Chris. What do you want, Eddie?" Donovan asks. The two are cuddled on the couch.

"I want my son without my family. However, I can give him off to Buck when Chris wants to see them. I want you and more kids. That's what I want," Eddie tells him, but Donovan notices that he hesitates to say something else. He waits him out.

"I don't want to go back. I don't know what I want to do, but I don't want to be a firefighter anymore," Eddie tells him.

"You could be a trainer. You know Muy Thai. You know MMA. You can work in a gym," Donovan suggests to him.

"I don't know. I want to be a nurse," Eddie says, and Donovan smiles.

"Let's get you the requirements that you need to be a nurse," He says, and Eddie smiles.

"Thank you, Donovan. I love you," Eddie says. Donovan kisses his forehead.

"I love you, Edmundo Diaz," Donovan tells him.
