Chapter Text
Caesar couldn’t stop thinking about her.
It was early afternoon in the colony, and every time Caesar tried to focus on his task, the memories of the night before would cross his mind, and then all he could think about was his beautiful, human wife moaning under him.
He had caught a glimpse of Faye a few times moving around the colony. She was wearing one of her beautiful flowered summer dresses, her honeyed hair loose over her shoulders in curls. Her lips were always lifted into a smile as she spoke with different apes from the colony, and her eyes focused as she listened to them talk. Caesar could see the fatigue hiding within the depths.
That only made him feel slightly guilty.
He had been hungry for his wife, waking her up three times in the night so he could mate with her again. At the time, a small part of him knew that he should’ve been letting her sleep, but she never stopped him.
If anything, she was just as eager.
He retook her in the morning, just as the sun's rays broke through his hut. Except she had been on top. Caesar could remember the way her breasts had bounced with every movement, almost hypnotizing him.
He never knew that a woman could go on top.
And he loved every second of it.
His gaze flickered towards Faye in the distance, warmth rolling through him as he watched her. She was talking to Lake near the makeshift area they had for a school, both signing quickly as Lake nodded enthusiastically in agreement to whatever Faye was signing. He wasn’t surprised to see Blue Eyes lurking nearby, pretending to focus on the conversation, though Caesar caught his gaze flickering to Lake.
He wondered if Blue Eyes would ever make his interest known.
As if she could feel him watching her, Faye’s eyes drew away from Lake and landed on him.
His breath caught in his throat as if her whole face lit up. Her lips curved into a beaming smile, her eyes glistening with happiness. He couldn’t help but smile in return, the corner of his eyes crinkling as he watched her.
Rocket cleared his throat beside him, immediately drawing Caesar’s attention back towards him, a knowing look on his friend's face.
Embarrassment bloomed inside of him as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“I apologize, Rocket, I was-”
“Watching your wife?” Rocket interrupted with a smile, his words making Caesar cleared his throat awkwardly.
“What is it you needed me to look at?” Caesar asked, quickly changing the subject from Faye to the colony.
“We need to go to the cooling cave. We’ve over stocked on fish again.” Rocket told him with a shrug, the words making Caesar hold back a sigh.
They had a cave near Faye’s bathing cave, which was always cold. It was where they stored the many fish they caught and the meat from their hunting outings. The problem they were running into was that they had an excessive number of fish, and some of it was turning bad. Caesar was at a loss for what to do with all the extra fish they had.
“Let us go; I’ll think of something we can do.”

The evening had rolled around again, the stars twinkling like jewels in the sky as he relaxed next to Faye in the nest. Cornelius was already fast asleep in Blue Eyes' nest, his little snores echoing throughout the hut. Blue Eyes had shared his evening meal with them but was staying with Rocket, Tinker, and Ash again, a knowing look shining in his eyes before he left.
Faye’s head was resting on his shoulder, the tips of her fingers running through the fur on his chest. She was dressed in simple sleep shorts and a thin tank top, the tips of his fingers trailing down her arms from where he had his arm wrapped around her.
“Are you ok? I can hear your heart racing.” Faye whispered, pushing herself up to look at him, resting on her forearms. Caesar gently ran his fingers through her hair before resting his hand on her lower back.
“I am okay, " he told her softly, gently taking her chin between his fingers and pulling her forward softly to claim her lips in a quick kiss.
Satisfied with the answer, she cuddled back into him, a happy sigh leaving her lips. “What did Rocket want you for earlier?” She asked softly, twirling a few strands of his fur between her fingers.
“We are overstocked in fish again. It will go bad; we’ve had this problem for a while. Maybe we should take a break from fishing for now.” He told her, resting one hand behind his head as he wrapped his free arm back around her.
She tensed slightly at his words, making him glance down towards her. She was nervous, and her bottom lip curled between her teeth as if she were lost in thought.
“What are you thinking about?” He questioned, worry clawing at his throat.
“I... I don’t want to overstep-”
“You will not; you can talk to me, Faye.” He assured her, gently cupping her cheek in his hand as she looked up to him. She sat up slightly as Caesar pushed himself up.
“It’s just...you say that you’re overstocked on fish, and I was thinking...we never had fish in the city due to not being near lakes. But we have plenty of eggs, fruits, and vegetables. We have greenhouses and crop fields, and we have chickens and cows. Have you thought about trading with Dreyfus? We could trade fish, nuts, berries and mushrooms. You could get fruits, eggs, vegetables...” She broke off, nervously tucking a few strands of her hair behind her ear.
Caesar watched her for a long moment, his heart thundering inside his chest; it felt like thousands of thoughts were running through his mind. He had never once thought about trading with the humans, he was sure that they would reject with any attempts.
But with Faye, it could be different.
“I will talk to the circle about it in the morning...it is not a terrible idea, Faye.” He admitted, her whole face seeming to light up with his words.
“Thank you, Caesar.”
