Chapter Text
It almost felt like deja vu when a night later he sees a hand with long fingers and scars curl around his bed curtains. Sirius rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t just seeing things, when Remus’ face popped from behind the curtains.
“Hullo,” he said with a shy smile.
Sirius grinned. “Hi.”
“You busy?”
He shook his head.
“Join me for a smoke?”
“Okay, sure.” He got up off his bed, following Remus out the Gryffindor tower.
They walked in silence and he wondered if he should hold Remus’ hand. He had never quite felt this awkward around his friend. They hadn’t had the time to speak since yesterday evening, and Sirius felt even more flustered around Remus’ now, despite whatever confessions or decisions they had made yesterday.
“This feels strange.” He flopped the words out before he could catch what he was saying, when they reached the open window.
Remus laughed. “It is a little bit.”
“How do people do this?”
“Dating?”
“Dating their friends.”
Remus shrugged. “Must be different for everyone. What do you want to do?”
“Don’t know. Everything feels unnatural. Like I want to kiss you, but I also feel like I’d be crossing a friend barrier,” he mumbled, staring widely at Remus, gauging every reaction. He smiled and put a hand through his hair, stepping slightly closer. Sirius mirrored him and took a step closer too until their faces were only centimetres away from one another. Remus smiled even sweeter, the side of his pointer finger was placed under Sirius’ chin, moving his head up.
The kiss was like a first kiss all over again. Hesitant, a bit wet. But oh so sweet.
Sirius could get used to this.
