Chapter Text
Two People with Nothing to Hide…Wouldn’t that be Nice?
The warmth of the beaming sun set upon Martha’s eyes, queuing her to wake up from the cozy slumber. She scrunched her face and groaned before turning her body to face away from the window. Upon turning away she felt the presence of warm skin making contact with her nude body. Her eyes quickly shot open coming face to face with her roommate and long time friend, Jamie. She gasped, causing him to swiftly open his eyes.
At first, his vision was hazy as he was registering who was in front of him. When his eyes began to focus, his brain was able to piece together the presence that laid before him. “M-Martha?” He spoke in a low tone
“Jamie…” Martha whispered back. Her breathing then began to quicken,“We- it wasn’t a dream
He studied their stark naked bodies and the discarded clothing thrown around his room, “I guess it wasn’t.” Jamie swallowed hard as watched Martha sit up and quickly covered her bare body. He on the other hand turned onto his back and covered his eyes with his hands. “I’m sorry…i’m so sorry” he mumbled as the shame began to set in.
Martha stared blankly at her feet hidden under the duvet, still registering what happened the previous night. She deeply sighed, “I’m going to make a stop at the pharmacy.” She snaked herself from under the duvet and stood up, fully exposing herself. Martha didn’t care at this point, remembering what had taken place before, the sight was now nothing new to him.
Jamie watched on as she started to collect her dress and undergarments from his bedroom floor, “Everything, okay?” He asked as he slowly sat up.
Her back was facing him with her hand softly gripping the brass knob. At that moment Martha was not ready to face Jamie, “We didn’t have a condom and you came inside me.” Her voice was soft, delicate. It mirrored the early spring morning displayed outside the window.
“Martha…” He could feel the shame and guilt dueling inside of him, “...do you want me to come along?” Jamie asked so innocently as he witnessed Martha looking over her shoulder.
“It’s just a pill. I’ll be fine.” Martha turned the knob and before closing asked, “I’ll pick up some coffee on the way back, yeah?”
Jamie rubbed his left temple, “I would appreciate that.” He saw her nod as she slowly walked out, “Martha?”
“Yes?” She spoke from behind the door.
“Can we talk about this when you get back?”
The flat was silent for a moment, “I think it would be best.” She closed the door and padded her way to her sacred bedroom.
Martha placed her clothes in the hamper next to the door and trailed along to her neatly made bed and sat on the edge. She let out a silent groan when her body made contact with the mattress causing a surge of soreness from between her legs to shoot its way through her, “What the absolute hell just happened?” She mumbled to herself.
In her long friendship with Jamie she’d never thought it would have gotten to this point. Maybe a possible drunk New Years kiss could’ve been in the cards, but this was never a scenario that would’ve crossed her mind.
While her body was trying to adjust to the discomfort she spent the next few moments recounting the events of the previous night. Martha found herself unable to keep her face feeling the heat from within by little thoughts of the sensations he made her feel. With the handful of partners she had, none seem to have ever provided her that amount of pleasure Jamie did on that night alone. In that moment, Martha had her eyes gently closed when she began to grip the duvet when she found herself replaying the favorable moments. Her mind raced thinking about how sensual his touch was, just his touch alone had her feel as though she ascended to the heavens. Even if this were the only time she would experience a feeling such as this, she could die happy.
A small moan made its way past her lips before she was pulled out of the lustful trance when that stinging sensation returned. Martha promptly got up and walked over to the armoire to pick out some garments before making the quick trip to the pharmacy. She had decided on a pair of dark blue jeans, a raspberry color camisole with a lace sweetheart neckline and lastly a brown knit ballet style cardigan. Upon looking at her appearance in the mirror she took it upon herself to grab a makeup wipe in order to erase the remaining smudged makeup from the previous night.
“Just in and out,” she reminded herself. “Just in and out”
:::
A now freshly dressed Martha walked out the narrow corridor in the shared flat. She could hear the patter of the droplets hitting the tiles coming from the bathroom along with the humming of a familiar melody. Part of her wished she had taken a shower, but she had other things to get done. She took a deep breath before making her way to the kitchen to grab her bag off the counter and keys that sat in a glass bowl at the entryway. When she unlocked the door and walked out to the brightly lit white hallway where she came face to face with their neighbor’s sister, Joy.
Joy was the younger sister of their quirky neighbor, Bliss. Bliss was currently touring around Europe as the lead guitarist of the rising Rock group L.I.N.D.A. During this time she needed someone to watch over her flat and plants for the next two months while Joy on the other hand needed a place to crash due to reasons that were unknown to Martha and Jamie.
“Mornin’, Joy” Martha pushed out as she took in the young woman’s appearance. A light pink leopard print strapless dress, layers upon layers of necklaces and bracelets, her unruly chestnut coloured hair pulled upward adorned with a black tied headband, and lastly Martha’s eyes had fallen to Joy’s hands to her scuffed black stilettos that clutched within her fingers.
She flashed her a sheepish smile, “Morning…Jonesy, right?” She was fumbling her keys into the door in front of her.
“Martha is fine.” She responded.
“Hmm…Martha is too serious. I like Jonesy.” Her sultry voice slurred out as managed to unlock the door. Joy decided to stumble back a few steps and held her arms out, “Ta-da!”
Martha just nodded, “I’ll see you around, Joy” she tiptoed around her temporary neighbor.
Joy’s eyes began to follow Martha’s every movement, “Got lucky, I see.”
“What do you mean?”
Joy smirked, “Tell ‘em to go easy on you next time, sweetheart.” She leaned into Martha as she whispered in her ear, “You’re stiff.”
Martha’s eyes grew wider, “Like I said, see you around.” She quickly turned on her heels to proceed her way down the stairs. Once she made it out the door to the building, she looked at all the pedestrians that crossed her path. She could feel their eyes on her. At this point she wondered if she had ‘I had sex with my best friend’ written on her forehead.
:::
Jamie stood in the steamy bathroom as studied his appearance in the foggy mirror he had just wiped clean. For the first time in his life he didn’t even recognize the man that stood before him. He was in a riot of emotions. Not like he didn’t enjoy the rendezvous between him and Martha from the previous night. He spent most of his time in the shower having flashes of memories from their night. Hearing her moan into his ear was a melody he never wanted to forget. Not even the greatest symphony conducted could compare to what had escaped her lips. He remembered seeing the hunger for him within her eyes or how soft her lips felt wherever they found themselves on him. However, he felt terrible that he possibly ruined another great thing in his life, but this time for temporary pleasure. He knew the friendship he and Martha had built for all of these years would never be the same. How could they recover from this? It wasn’t anything like the kiss they had shared in their youth. This was sex, the ultimate level of intimacy any person could experience.
“Stupid, stupid life.” he cursed to himself, “Another great thing that I fucked up.” He bowed his head at his reflection and walked out into the cool corridor.
This was not the Jamie he remembered.
When he made it back to his room and headed straight to his closet, grabbing some clothes to lounge around in. He didn’t want to face anyone in the outside world again. First the breakup with Rose during what would’ve been a special dinner and then next sex with his best friend. Jamie found himself wondering how fast he could move out to the countryside and cut contact with everyone, but then he had to remind himself that he and Martha still needed to talk when she returned back. So, calling a realtor would be on the back burner…at least for now.
Jamie had quickly thrown on a navy blue long sleeve t-shirt and some light grey sweatpants. For the past few weeks this has been his uniform of choice besides when he would head to work as a veterinary technician and one of the two Saturdays a month where he’d volunteer at the library as a storyteller. Other than that he was in full hermit mode. At least after last night his life of being a hermit may have been extended.
When he was finally dressed Jamie walked out to the living room and looked at the half full glass of Martha’s wine and the open bottle still filled with a quarter of the way to empty. He took a deep breath before picking up the bottle and glass then made his way to the sink discarding the liquid. Not like they both needed another reminder of what had taken place. Jamie found himself surveying the room in the hopes to find any way he could erase any more evidence, but he seemed to have forgotten that the body remembers.
As he waited for Martha, Jamie found himself gazing out the window just to watch people go by. He had wondered if they themselves had ever been in this situation and what advice they’d give him.
:::
Martha clutched onto the small brown paper bag as she made her swift exit out of the pharmacy. She was hoping to make it back to her safe flat so she can hide away from the world that bestowed a thousand eyes on her, but then she remembered the elephant in the room that was awaiting her.
The night with Jamie.
A few steps from the small pharmacy was a little cafe called “The Motorway” founded by a young couple by the name of Milo and Cheen. Martha had known the couple for a while as she had met them at a local music festival that Tish happened to be doing PR for. Before they had their storefront, their cafe had just been a small horse trailer they’d converted to travel around the city with for events. Over the last two years they grew in popularity due to their unique way of marketing their coffees and tea as “Moods” along with Cheen’s health conscious snacks being all the rage. As they would always say they were ‘Happy, Happy’.
Before Martha walked in she quickly shoved the small paper bag into her purse then proceeded her way in. Upon her entrance she was greeted by Cheen scribbling in a binder logging in all their inventory. When the bell rang, Cheen was alerted and looked up to flash Martha a warm smile, “Oh how I’m glad to see you.” Cheen greeted as she adjusted her posture. Martha hadn’t seen Cheen for nearly three months as she found herself deep into her studies along with wasting time with Tom. They had little phone calls here and there, but she hadn’t made the effort to visit their cafe or their small home located above the store during that time. However Jamie on the other hand would make the effort to fetch her a cup of coffee to aid in fueling her late night cram sessions.
Martha raised an eyebrow, “It’s great to see you too, everything okay?”
“Well…” Cheen shifted out of her chair and stood up slowly revealing a swell in her abdomen. “Surprise!” she spoke out as she proudly placed her hand on her bump.
“No way! Why didn’t you tell me during our last call?” Martha was shocked to see the drastic change in Cheen’s appearance, “How far along are you now?” She walked closer to her friend.
Cheen’s smile had grown wider “Because I wanted to see your reaction and five months as of last week.” She proceeded to rest her hand on top of her bump, “Milo and I just found out we’re having a boy.”
Milo stepped out from the back balancing a stack of ivory mugs in hand, “Cheen thought she was stressed out due to overwhelming sales and trying to keep up with inventory. Sick constantly, fatigued. Y’know, the works.” He sat down the mugs and walked next to his loving wife, hooking an arm around her waist, “Turns out our next great endeavor had been in the making.” He planted a kiss on the top of her head, “Anyways, Mar, how can we help you?”
“Well, first I give you both my congratulations. Excited to be auntie Mar once again.” Martha peered at the menu for a moment, “Could I get a ‘Fury 10’ and ‘Honesty 28’, extra espresso shot in Fury.”
“For Jamie, right?” Milo spoke up as he turned around to make his way behind the counter to start crafting the coffees.
The call of his name snapped her back into reality as she felt that sinking feeling in stomach again, “Y-you’d be correct and a splash of cream he’d say, but really he means just a drop.”
Cheen had studied Martha’s slight change in expression, “You seem a little unwell, go out last night?”
She didn’t want to tell the whole truth, “Sort of. Had a little too much wine with my dinner.” In reality, that was her dinner.
“How I do not miss those mornings.” Cheen snickered at the memories, “How about this, I made these oat, ginger and blueberry muffins, they help curve the nausea. Think of it as a welcome back present.” Cheen advertised her latest creation off their menu.
Martha thought for a moment, “Sure, why not?”
:::
Martha made her way back up to a few flights of stairs to their flat located at the very end of the corridor. As she reached into her bag to pull out her keys she had heard the click of her neighbor’s lock where she now witnessed a rather put together Joy exiting. Martha could’ve sworn this was not the same young woman she had encountered twenty minutes prior. She was now adorned in a long green tartan dress that had a long slit up the side revealing her black lace tights underneath. She had chosen a vintage black Italian leather trench coat and had replaced the black stilettos with a pair of very clean mary janes. The heavy makeup had disappeared only to be replaced with a lighter base and her coily hair now styled in a half up, half down manner with a forest green ribbon wrapped around her ponytail.
“Joy?” Martha spoke hoping to reassure her that what she saw was true.
“Jonsey!” she responded with enthusiasm while she locked her door and proceeded to throw her keys into the small dark green suede handbag.
“Didn’t you just get home?” Martha asked.
“Indeed, but I got places to go and people to displease.” Joy looked over her shoulder to glance back at Martha and winked, “À la prochaine!” Martha watched Joy stool down the corridor before disappearing into the stairwell only remaining by the clicking of her shoe’s heels on the tile.
She was in disbelief, but amazed by her neighbor’s mysterious younger sister. However, now it was time to face the music. She turned to face her flat’s door and unlocked it, holding a firm grip on the knob.
“Whatever happens, everything will be okay.” She assured herself before fully turning the knob and coming face to face with the back of Jamie’s head. He was sitting on the infamous loveseat where this whole mess had started. He was still and didn’t react to Martha’s entrance.
“I picked up some coffees from The Motorway. Fury 10 with a splash of cream and an extra shot of espresso.” she saw down the small paper bag as well as her handbag before slowly padding over to the opposite side of the love seat. She sat down his cup in front of him while she nursed her cup in both of her hands. “ Caught up with Milo and Cheen. Found out they’re expecting a baby soon.” She looked over to Jamie who had his eyes locked onto the cup. “When Cheen revealed the news to me, I could’ve sworn she had swallowed a dwarf planet.” Martha joked in hopes to get Jamie to speak.
Jamie drew in a deep breath “I found out last month when I popped by to get you one of your late night cups.” He hadn’t noticed Martha surveying his laser focus on his cup, “Cheen had already left for the day when Milo revealed the news to me. The guy could barely contain his excitement.” Jamie half smiled thinking back to that night before he leaned up and extended an arm out for his piping hot cup of coffee.
“They told me that they’re having a boy.” Martha added.
Jamie took a small sip from his beverage “That’s good to know. Now I can narrow down my gift options for my future nephew.”
They both sat there in silence in the hopes that one or the other would ignite the conversation that needed to be held. With each passing second they could feel the elephant in the room growing larger to the point they felt nothing but suffocation.
Martha took a gulp of her hot beverage and felt its warmth passing itself within her chest, ‘ Here goes nothing .’ she thought to herself as she tried to drain the last bit of her nerve in her system.
“So, about last night…” Jamie spoke out flatly.
She hadn’t expected Jamie to make the first move “Last night…” Martha repeated.
Jamie took a deep breath before blurting out, “I’m sorry. I don’t know how you feel, but I don’t want to ruin what we have. If you want to forget about this then we can. I’m okay with it. I just- I just can’t lose you.” He pleaded.
“And you won’t.” She assured him softly. She unclasped one hand from her cup and moved it over to his free hand, gently holding it in her’s , “Jamie you mean so much to me and I can’t lose you as well, but something like this can’t just be brushed under the rug.” Her eyes trailed up to his and locked onto them.
Jamie nodded as he explored her eyes, but he could sense there was something hidden within her, “I know. Which leads me to my next question, how do you feel about last night…in general?”
Martha took in a shaky breath and closed her eyes not wanting to witness his reaction. The young woman was well aware that what she was about to say would likely change their friendship even further.
“Be honest with me.” Jamie continued on, failing to mask the edge he was on as his brain tried to prepare for any answer she was going to deliver.
“I…” she herself couldn’t believe the words that were about to pour out her mouth, “enjoyed it.”
Jamie gently tightened his grip on her hand “Y-you did?”
Martha nodded, “Yes, I did.” she gnawed on her bottom lip, “Every moment of it.” She confessed before letting his hand go. She leaned over setting her coffee upon the table in front of them before leaning back and fully turning her body to his.
It took Jamie a moment to let Martha’s words soak in. He remembered the ravenous screams of ecstasy she had continuously let out, but his overworked mind just assumed she was decompressing from her pent up anger from what Tom had put her through. In reality she had felt something that whole time.
“What if I told you that I did as well?”
She was quiet for a moment as she fidgeted with her fingers, “I guess we would have more to unpack. Such as where do we go from here?”
“I didn’t think much deeper on that subject.” Jamie spoke honestly. “Didn’t think you had enjoyed it.”
“Why did you think that?”
Jamie shrugged, “To be honest, you resembled a deer in headlights. Didn’t help that you couldn’t even face me afterwards.”
Martha has been toying with a ring on her finger, “Well, what I thought was a very intimate dream with my best friend turned out to be true.” She paused for a moment, “Catches you off guard.”
“Well, that makes it better. Guess it was my brain on overdrive again.” He leaned to the side and sat his coffee down, “So, where do we go from here?”
“Well for starters, I don’t think I’m ready to jump back into something serious.” Martha propped her head on her hand, “I spent two years with him only for it to all blow up in my face. On our anniversary of all things.”
Jamie had taken note of the pain that flashed within her eyes when he moved his hand up to her cheek, caressing it in the palm of his hand, “I understand.” He confirmed, “Personally, I don’t know if I am ready to commit again, at least for a while, after four very long years.” Jamie moved closer to Martha leaving a semi small gap between their faces, “That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.”
“Fun…such as what happened last night?” Martha found her instinctively biting her bottom lip as flashes from their night popped into their heads.
Jamie moved closer, nearly closing their gap, “Doesn’t have to be anything serious. Just two adults who just want something fun.”
“Better than being with a complete stranger.” Martha added on.
Jamie paused for a moment as he absorbed her words, “What do you say then, deal?”
Martha swallowed hard and stayed quiet for a moment. Well, they already had reached the point of no return, “Deal.” she agreed.
Jamie’s mouth began to curl into a smile, “Deal.” He repeated back to her before Martha closed the gap between them and sealed their deal with a soft kiss upon his lips.
Jamie closed his eyes as he returned the kiss. He’d found the hand that was not placed gently on Martha’s cheek beginning to migrate its way to her waist and pulling her body even closer to him. The young man had been surprised to have found his bottom being dampened by her tongue asking for entrance into his mouth. He parted his lips giving her access before his tongue began to massage her’s.
A sober kiss.
Martha broke the kiss before she spoke, “First let me just handle one thing before we go further, ‘kay?”
Jamie nodded gingerly, still drunk off their short kiss, “Y-yeah, right.”
Martha quickly stood up and walked over to the counter and stood behind the sink where she reached into her purse, pulling out the paper bag containing the small pill she needed. Turning around to the cupboard, she took out a small glass before going back to her starting point where she turned on the tap and filled the glass with water. She hadn’t noticed Jamie watching her as meticulously opened the packaging, taking the small pill out before popping it into her mouth and chasing it down with the water. Martha sat the cup down and stared at the counter before she looked at Jamie, “I think we should think a little more about this. What if people catch on?”
“What do you mean by that?” Jamie furrowed his eyebrows, “Not like I’m shagging you out in public.” He paused for a moment when he tilted his head, “Unless you’re into that?”
The young woman shook her head, “No, not that, Jamie.” She sighed, “I mean when I left for the Pharmacy, Joy, Bliss’ sister, could tell you did quite the performance with me.”
“Joy. The one with the beautiful voice who sings those sad ballads at night?” Jamie did enjoy hearing her voice during the nights he couldn’t sleep. However it only reminded him of the pain he felt with everyday life, “How could she know? Granted I think it’s her probably being the brighter one of the two.”
Martha moved away from the kitchen and back to the living room, “I don’t think she suspected it was you. Anyways when she returned from a night out during our encounter she commented on how I was ‘stiff’ and that he needs to go easy on me next time.”
Jamie couldn’t help, but snicker, “Stiff?”
Martha shoved him on his shoulder, “I mean, as I and my body remembers, you weren’t so gentle.”
“Ow!” He responded, rubbing his shoulder, “Your nails practically branded my back. You know I have sensitive skin.” Jamie moved his hand over from his shoulder to his upper back, “Could’ve sworn the water in our shower had been mixed with lemon.”
Their eyes met each other in that moment before lips pursed as they belted out into laughter at how ridiculous they both sounded.
“Okay, we both got carried away. But honestly, my family will find out Tom and I are no longer together.” Martha walked back to her side of the loveseat, “If an intoxicated Joy could tell, just imagine if I show up to my mum’s or Tish’s home, unable to sit because we got carried away again . You know how Tish is.”
Jamie shrugged, “You mean the biggest mystery of all? She knows everything about you whereas you can’t even get a peep about what she ate for lunch.”
“Exactly.” Martha punctuated.
The two were now sitting at their starting point, together again. The love seat. Both couldn’t help staring out the window. Jamie moved his hand to Martha’s and gently held it, “Martha?”
“Yes?”
“I want to make it up to you tonight, last night,” he leaned in closer to kiss the crook of her neck, “it was nice, but I truly want this time to actually count. I want to know what you like and understand what makes you tick. Your weak spots,” Jamie could hear her moan as he began to trail kisses along her bare shoulder back up her to the crook of her neck mumbling, “your wildest fantasies, and…” He reached her ear, “how I can keep you craving for more.”
Martha had spent the time feeling her eyes roll their way back to her head, “Why not right now?” She prompted as she felt her unclaping his and sneaking its way over to Jamie’s lap.
“Because you’re sti-argh” He swiftly threw his head back by feeling her stroke his cock over his sweatpants.
“I’m what?” keeping a firm, steady rhythm on his member.
Jamie was struggling to steady his breathing, “You- You’re…”
She leaned into his ear and whispered, “Say it?”
Jamie swallowed hard, enjoying the small tremors going through him, “St…stiff.” He gasped out.
Martha moved her gaze down to his erect cock “Looks like I’m not the only one.” She was taking joy over his yearning for her touch, “Want me to help you with that?” Martha asked as she watched Jamie squeeze his eyes tighter.
“Please…” Jamie tried his hardest to steady his breathing as he began to feel her nimble fingers trailing their way into his sweatpants.
As her hand made contact with his member. While beginning to stroke him slowly, Martha leaned in and kissed this corner of his mouth, “Meet me in the shower then.” She quickly withdrew her hand and stood up from the loveseat discarding her camisole before making her way to their shared bathroom and leaving a trail of her garments for him to follow.
Jamie quickly got up and followed her trail and started to strip down. He was fully bare when approaching the door where the sound of droplets making contact with the tile along with Martha humming to herself.
Martha had been entering the shower when Jamie walked in. She looked over her shoulder, “Still need help?” her tone was sultry.
Jamie didn’t say anything, but closed the door and made his way to her. He placed his hand on her waist and dipped his head down to gently place a kiss on her shoulder. A shudder could be felt from Martha when his erection made contact with her rear. “Ready when you are.”
They both were now in the shower when Martha had propped her leg up on the rim of the tub. Her palms laid flat on the damp tiled wall as she arched her back before Jamie inched closer to her. His erection brushed the entrance of her wet, throbbing core as he placed his hands on her hips inching her lower onto his hard cock. His pacing was slow when he began thrusting in and out soon making the decision to snake his hand down to her clit to gently rubbing the swollen nub between his fingertips. Jamie was amused when the sound of the shower’s droplets were engulfed with the sounds of Martha’s loud breathy moans and the feeling her inner temperature rise with each maneuver.
With her head now tilted up to the ceiling, Martha moved one hand to her breast and cupped it toying with her nipple while she started to come undone. In the midst of her ascension, she neglected to notice Jamie withdraw his hand from her clit before he moved his hand to her hair and gently tugged on it when he started to speed up his pace hitting her center.
Martha let out a gasp, “Gentle, Jamie!” She whined out her reminder to him.
He let go of his grasp quickly, “I’m sorry,” he stood back withdrawing himself from her, “I’m so sorry.”
Martha had stood up straight and turned around to him, “It’s okay.” she whispered when leaning up and kissed him softly, “It’s okay.”
“I got carried away-”
“We still have tonight to make up for it.” Her eyes began to trail down from his down to his member, “Besides, let me finish what I started.” Martha began to lower herself down to her knees coming face to face with his cock.
Jamie’s eyes wandered down to the top of her head as he watched her take a hold of his appendage. He sucked in a sharp breath, closing his eyes tightly when he began to feel the warmth of her tongue swirl around the tip. As she started trailing her tongue up and down the shaft a long drawn out moan escaped his lips. Jamie gasped loudly when he felt himself fully taken into her mouth. His eyes quickly sprung open meeting her while she started to bob her head back and forth.
Martha moaned onto his cock with each stroke, sucking harder each pass. She could feel his hands caressing its way into her hair and guiding her to his desired pacing. The moan began to dissipate while she started to guide him deeper into her mouth.
“Just like that.” He managed to push out as he began to gasp for air. He was still, not wanting to go too far by rolling his hips back and forth or risking falling back in the shower.
With one of her hands she guided them to his balls and started to massage them which sent Jamie into the deep end.
“Martha, I-” He couldn’t complete his sentence as he started to fully unravel and came down her throat.
His eyes were still closed, his member now limp, and seed fully swallowed, she looked up at him. Looking up into the cloud of steam Martha watched Jamie slowly come to himself again. She watched his head swing down before he opened his eyes meeting her doe brown eyes again.
Jamie withdrew his hand from her hair and over to her cheek, rubbing his thumb across her bottom lip. “Stand up!” He commanded and Martha obliged. Jamie leaned down and kissed her hungrily, pulling her slick body to his. Martha clung onto his frame before she broke the kiss.
“Can’t wait to see what you have in store for later.” Martha bit her lip.
Jamie sheepishly smiled, “I’ll let you finish your shower so you’re ready for later.” He said before letting her go and exiting out the steamy room.
Martha had taken one last good look at him before lying back onto the tile trying to register what had happened. It was real. Everything from the last twelve hours happened.
After collecting herself and her thoughts she began to go about her regular shower routine. Washed her hair, her body in the process, and massaged the parts of herself that needed it the most. She was content with all the forms of self care she had experienced this morning with a little extra help from Jamie. She was on a new high that she didn’t want to come down from.
When she had exited the shower, Martha had put in her leave-in conditioner before she grabbed shea butter lotion to lather onto her body. Now fully down with her self care, she grabbed a plum colored towel that hung on her door and wrapped it around her freshly cleaned body. She was humming to herself as she walked out the bathroom, but stopped as she heard an extra voice in their living room. “It can’t be?” she whispered to herself. She quickly scanned the corridor hoping Jamie hid the trail of their discarded clothing and luckily the evidence was nowhere in sight.
Martha padded her way down the corridor when she came face to face with the last person she’d want to encounter. Her older sister, Tish, and her duffle bag next to her.
“Oh, there she is.” Tish announced when her younger sibling came into her vision.
Jamie looked back to Martha with darting eyes not knowing she’d even be in town.
“Tish?” Martha slowly walked into the living room, “I wasn’t expecting you here.”
“She popped by about ten minutes ago.” Jaime spoke out, trying to mask his shock.
“I know. It’s last minute, but I just need to stay here for the weekend to clear my head.” Tish briefly explained.
“Mum’s in the area.” Martha suggested.
“Full house.” Tish answered. “Leo, Shonara, and Keisha are still there. Apparently the renovations are moving along slower than expected so they’re staying at mum’s for an extra week.”
“Dad’s?”
Tish scoffed, “I’d rather swallow a pack of razor blades than spend a night under the same roof as Annalise.” The statement was a bit dramatic, but true.
“Understandable” Martha nodded before she sat on the chair across from Tish, “What happened anyways? Thought everything in Cardiff was going well. You told me on our last call that you felt everything was truly coming together.”
“It was.” She said truthfully before she sighed, “However, as I was telling Jamie, my business partner, Tosh, and I had a major disagreement. It was over what direction the PR firm should be going in and-.”
Jamie furrowed his eyebrows, “What was the straw that broke the camel’s back?” He asked, intrigued over this disagreement.
The eldest Jones sister was silent as she looked down, “A new client.” She shrugged before looking up, “Anyways. I can’t go any further. Y’know NDAs and all that fun legal stuff.”
Martha knew there was more to the story, but didn’t want to pry any further, “Fine, you can stay for the weekend.”
Jamie looked at Martha, “What about tonight?” He interjected, forgetting in that moment their agreement .
Tish looked between her sister and her roommate, “What’s tonight?”
In that moment she truly wished the past twelve hours had been a dream. “Jamie and I…” she looked at Jamie then back to Tish, “had plans to go out.”
Jamie nervously nodded, “Right. Since my break up with Rose and her break up with Tom-”
“Wait, you and Tom broke up?” Tish interjected.
“Y-yes.” Martha stammered, “Happened last and It was my decision that I’d rather not dive into any further.” Martha was a little flustered at the near exposure of her and Jamie’s arrangement along being reminded of her end with Tom. “Jamie and I both decided not to mope around the flat about our losses and instead have a night out on the town.”
“Can I tag along? I have a friend that can get us into an exclusive cocktail lounge.” Tish suggested.
They hadn’t really intended to spend their night exploring the city, but instead exploring each other…again. All Jamie and Martha could do was nod and put their original plans on the back burner.
Tish stood up, holding her duffle, “Right then, I give a ring to a few people and have our names on the list before dusk settles.” She looked around, “Where will I be staying?”
“You can take my room, I’ll sleep in the air mattress in Jamie’s room.” Martha stated when she stood up and guided Tish to her bedroom.
“I don’t mind sharing a room with you.”
Martha playfully scrunched her face, “You snore”.
Tish light shoved her sister’s shoulder, “Shut it.” she chuckled.
