Chapter Text
You had a good brief two hours of sleep before you had to wake up at 7 am again. You slept a little bit better, yet you didn’t dream again. Or you at least didn’t remember anything of it. The dream you had at Megumi’s place still had you in a chokehold. Naoya's eyes felt as though they were piercing through you. The rage within you sounded like another person. You turned off the shower water as you stepped out. You had recently been taking cold showers. You didn’t know entirely why, but the cold water made you feel centered and whole again. You stepped out of the shower to see Kaori standing out the hallway. She smirked at you, “Gojo asked about you yesterday.” You scoffed as you tried to push past her, “And I should care why exactly?” Kaori pinned you against the wall. She had grown tired of you not giving her any reaction. She knew deep down that you hated her. She didn’t waste her time sneaking into your room and finding your diary for no reason. It had your usual sad girl bullshit. Yet she soon found gold when she found out about your crush on Gojo.
You talked about him all summer in your diary. You fawned over his physique and “his blue eyes burned into your soul in a good way.” She had a good laugh. Yet she knew she finally had something on you. You and her had similar grades and your father doted on the both of you. Yet, Kaori figured that if she could snag a boyfriend from a highly esteemed family, she would finally have that upperhand again. She set her plan in motion and soon snagged Gojo for herself. She didn’t really love him, but it was so delightful seeing you trying to hide your hurt and anger yesterday. She spoke with venom in her words, “You should care because he didn’t pick you.” A sense of condescending energy oozing from her words. You struggled with that fact quietly. You soon pushed her, not wanting to give her anymore satisfaction from seeing you upset. She laughed as you sped walked to your room. Kaori trailed behind you, speaking only loud enough for you to hear, “Just know you stupid little bitch, I won and you can’t do shit about it.” You slammed the door to your room behind you. The wooden door being the only thing separating you two. You heard her laughter as she walked off. This has been your life for the past seven years. It may have not been long to some, but for you it felt like an eternity. You soon got yourself dressed. You put on some ripped jeans with some black combat boots. You soon put on your favorite band tee and grabbed your bookbag. You raced down the stairs. You saw your father and Maki talking to each other. You stopped, wanting to eavesdrop. Maki talked with your father, “Yeah….I don’t know why she left either. Maybe she just missed you guys.” Your father sighed, “I know, she just seemed happier with you and it all changed. Please try to talk to her if you can. I’m really worried about her.” Your eyes soon became dull. Now everyone wanted to be worried. You swallowed your anger as you came the rest of the way down. Maki and your father smiling at you. Maki hugged you, “Hey (y/n), Megumi is sleeping in a bit, but he said he’ll meet us halfway.” You smiled and then hugged your dad before leaving.
You and Maki started walking, your conversation being filled with classwork and your activities outside of classes. Maki sighed, “Yeah family has sort of been all over the place. My dad finally put his investments into the college, hopefully we’ll be able to get more curricular activities and stuff.” You raised an eyebrow, “Your father invests into our college?” Maki smiled, “Yeah, I sort of asked him to. It wasn’t heading in the right direction with the old head administrator, so my dad decided to kinda help aid in it.” You sat with the thought. You knew both of your families were rich, but you weren’t exactly sure about how rich
the Zenin family was.
You then saw Megumi waving at you guys. You smiled warmly at him. The event from this morning gives you some comfort. The three of you are walking soon. As you walked, you saw the same maroon car that gave you so much anxiety before. Naoya pulled up beside you guys. He gave a fake smile to his cousins, “ Hey guys? Heading to class? I can take all of us.” Maki rolled her eyes at her cousin, “We were actually grabbing breakfast. I think we will be okay. You usually don’t like the poor man's food anyway.” She said with slight annoyance. Naoya laughed. Even the sound of his voice caused your skin to crawl. A feral rage boiling in you. He soon spoke directly to you, “Hey (y/n) did your dad talk to you? He seemed pretty worried when my dad talked to him.” You wanted him to burst into flames. To hear him screaming in agony would bring you some solace. You force a smile. You were with friends. You weren’t going to allow him to bring you in a corner. You spoke to him, “He did, but I do find it a private family matter, so I won’t be talking about it much.”
Naoya's POV:
Naoya looked at you with irritation. Every step and turn you defied him. It angered him greatly. Yet it made his need and want to control you just as strong. He soon masked his expression turning to Maki and Megumi, “Look, you guys can pick the place. I can cover for all of us.” Maki and Megumi didn’t want to pay for breakfast today so they agreed. The three of you soon entered his car. Maki sat in the front. Something you were appreciative of. Megumi sat next to you in the back. The cousins talking among themselves. You sat in silence. Everything was on autopilot for you. You guys stopped at your local coffee shop. You had their app so you ordered ahead. You didn’t want him to even glance your way, let alone give him anything to use against you. As you guys entered the restaurant, Naoya’s thoughts filled with you. He remembered the first day he met you.
He begrudgingly bought groceries for Maki. It was a lot more than usual so he figured she was either hoarding, or she had someone new living with her. He entered with a spare key and saw moving boxes. He yelled for Maki, “Hey Maki, I got the groceries your dad got for you!” Maki came down from the top floor with you. He was used to good looking girls, but you…..well you did something to him. He was used to seeing preppy girls and pastels. Yet you had some black jean shorts, Converse, and an all black tank top. He would be lying to himself if he didn’t find your body to be absolutely smokin. He dropped the groceries on the counter, Maki thanking him and introducing you. Maki smiled, pushing you forward, “Hey Naoya, this is my best friend (y/n). (Y/n) this is Naoya, my cousin.” You shook his hand. Your skin was so soft. He usually expected girls to look at him adoration or lust. Yet your expression was blank. This was something just casual to you. You didn’t want him for anything. It was such a shame because he sure wanted you. He started coming over more after that day. He wanted to get to know you. To make you his. You drove him wild for some reason.
He found the perfect opportunity when his father was away. He hosted a party at his home. The condominium is rather larger since his dad owns some real estate. He saw Maki come in. He was hoping you were right behind her. As if right on que, you came in right behind her. You had on a skirt with a crop top. God you looked so good. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of you. Your furry boots threw him off slightly, but maybe it was part of some fashion statement you were trying to pull off. He talked to one of his friends, “Hey, do you still have those pills?” His friend smirked, “Yeah why?” Naoya smirked back, “A real hot baddie at four o’clock.” His friend looked at you and whistled to Naoya, “Well, she’s all yours. She looks shy as fuck. Good luck trying to get into her pants.” Naoya smirked and grabbed a drink putting the roofies in, “I don’t need luck.” He put the lid on the cup and made it seem like it was fresh. He walked over to you. You guys are having small talk. He introduced you to others at the party. Once he saw you start getting woozy, he pretended to be concerned about you. He brought you upstairs to his room. He gently helped you sit on the bed. He smirked at you, “God you're so pretty.” In your inebriated state, you thanked him. He soon kissed you.
To him, you were supposed to fall for him that night after. Except, you started completely avoiding him. It angered him. Any women he came into contact with immediately bent under his will. You were supposed to follow suit, yet at every turn you still continue to defy him. He needed to get you under control. You became his muse in some twisted fashion. Even now, you detested him. He asked you what you wanted, but you told him you already ordered ahead so as to not burden him. He had to get you alone again. You would bend to his will whether you wanted to or not.
You picked up your breakfast and sat at the table with Megumi. Megumi ate his breakfast sandwich. After chewing he asked, “Hey (y/n), do you feel better after this morning?” You gave Megumi a small smile as you took a sip of your matcha tea, “Yeah, I do…..my dad wants us to go to family counseling though.” Megumi raised an eyebrow, “Why now? Your step mom and sister have been dicks your whole life. Now he wants to get family therapy?” You break eye contact with Naoya, he had been staring at you from the checkout line, his stare creeping on your skin as if he was right next to you. You look at Megumi, “Same shit I’ve said to myself. Do you want to walk to the college grounds? I kinda want to enjoy the faint fall we're getting.” You give Megumi a smile. He smiled back just as wide, “Oh thank god, yes. Naoya is insufferable. All he wants to do is talk about is himself. Guy is so full of himself.” As the two of you get up to leave, Naoya and Maki call out to you guys, “Hey where are you heading? I’m still giving you guys a ride.” You were already out the door, but Megumi turned to him “Me and (y/n) will just walk.” Before Naoya could rebuttal, the two of you were already outside giggling with each other. The rage in his eyes was masked when Maki handed him his food. He would catch you at some point.
Reader's Pov:
You had finished your classes for the day. Completely ignoring Naoya the whole time. Nobara was waiting outside your class and walked with you. You were so grateful for her. It was as if she was a guardian angel for you. You soon found yourself back with Megumi for lunch. Megumi smiled at seeing you. You smiled back at him, “So any plans today?” Megumi smiled, “Yeah, we were going to do some more practice if you wanted to come again.” You got excited. You would love to. You weren’t excited about seeing Sukuna again, but as long as you had Geto, Hakari, and Megumi to keep you company, you would be fine.
You found yourself on the same couch in the basement. The basement is almost becoming a safe space. You hung out with really cool people. Sukuna arrived a bit later. Maybe he couldn’t leave work early like he did yesterday. Sukuna spoke to you all, “Are we still doing soft chick songs or are we actually going to do some real music.” Megumi was going to interject, but you had enough, “Listen you jackass-” Hakari almost spit out his drink trying not to laugh. Sukuna looked at you, his face almost unreadable. You continued, “You haven’t written a single lyric. I don’t see you suggesting anything for these guys either. I really hope one day you take the stick that’s up your ass and shove it to your mouth so you can shut the fuck up. Now be a good boy and keep beating your drums like you always do hm?” Your chest was heaving slightly, “And my got damn name is (y/n) Hisaki. Remember it before I just keep calling you drummer boy.” You couldn’t read his face. He just rolled his eyes, “Yeah, whatever.” He said begrudgingly. Yet to Sukuna, he was proud of you. He learned one new thing about you. You weren’t a push over like he thought you were.
To the world, he just thinks his own way. He still did, but he was surprised that you didn’t join the background thoughts he had. No matter when he was awake or sleeping, you were in his thoughts. He found it strange seeing as he was a demon. He usually saw things as part of his life. Yet you threw a wrench in it now. Especially after seeing your anger with him. It was just a little taste of the rage he knew you had. His powers allowed him to feed off human emotion rather easily. It’s why he was sticking around this sad miserable bunch of people. At first it was just Megumi. His issues with his dad lead to his depression and anger. Geto had a fucked home life to. His parents constantly put him under pressure to be great. His crush was dating some chick now instead of him. Hakari was just a depressed individual in general. His girlfriend left him a few months ago and he still wasn’t over it. He filled his life with beer and sleeping most of the day. Then lastly it was you. He didn’t get to know you yet, but if your rage was anything to indicate to him, your life was just as miserable and horrible as the others. His red eyes never left you as you turned around to test the mic. You guys were doing a practice run of the song yesterday before trying anything new. Despite your rage, you were beautiful to him. He usually didn’t look at human women before. However, you have just become his exception. Your hair cradled your face perfectly. You were a bit on the curver side, but that wasn’t a detail that mattered much to him. Your voice to him at first was like a tea kettle going off. But after showing your anger, it sounded heavenly. Sukuna didn’t know what you were doing to him, but he liked it. It was different. It challenged him. He wanted to learn more about it. Just maybe this once he would be nice to you so he could do that?
Nah, what would be the fun in that? He would keep pushing your buttons maybe? He debated with the idea as he played. Slowly immersing himself in the music to distract himself from you for the moment. After a little bit of practice, the others went upstairs, leaving the two of you alone. You soon met his gaze, a look of annoyance hitting your features hard, “What? You got something to say smartass?” Sukuna smirked at you, “No (y/n), but you sure have something to say to me hn?” You were about to chew him out until you realized he called you by your name finally. Your features soften just for a bit, “ Well I did, but seeing as you're calling me by my first name, I will take that. You know it wouldn’t kill you to not be a dick.” Sukuna shrugged as he tapped his drums softly, “And it wouldn’t kill you to unleash that rage you have either.” he said to you. You raised your eyebrow, “My rage?” Sukuna scoffed, “Oh don’t play stupid now. When you sing, you sing with a rage deep within you. Let it out more when you sing. Get aggressive you know.” You could see a glint in his eyes. You scoffed back, “Why? Maybe the band doesn’t want to be screaming constantly.” Sukuna started playing a beat on the drums, getting excessively louder. He yelled, “ Well, we are just a bunch of guys going through shit huh!?” You responded back, “Well yes but-” Sukuna started beating the drums louder. The look of annoyance on your face ever growing. You soon yell at him again, “ You really don’t fucking learn do you!?” Sukuna smirked and started playing louder. You soon walked up to him. You wanted to wipe that damn smug smirk off his face, “YOU DON’T FUCKING LEARN DO YA-” Sukuna stopped his drums. Geto and Megumi were standing before you. Geto smiled at you softly, “I didn’t know your voice could get that loud. It sounded rough.” You turned around blushing softly. You looked back at Sukuna, a satisfied smirk on his face.
It hit you, he personally antagonized you to sing more rougher and louder. You looked at the band and went to sit on the couch again. Geto smiled, “There is this one song we have, you should give it a try. It could use that yelling sound.” Megumi spoke on your behalf, “ I don’t think she needs to be more angered guys. She’s already going through a lot.” You knew the comment was from a good place, but between your thoughts swimming with Kaori, Naoya, and the anger you already felt….. You figured you could let off some steam. It wasn’t like you to get so riled up personally. Yet that smug smirk Sukuna gave you….it made you so fucking mad. You stood up and walked to Geto, “What’s the lyrics?”
Before you knew it, you studied the lyrics and everyone got in their place. Once you heard Sukuna hitting his drums, that anger refueled you. You started the song off, the rage laced your words, “ The bass, the rock, the mic, the treble ,I like my coffee black just like my metal, With the bass, the rock, the mic, the treble, I like my coffee black just like my metal!” The roughness in your voice surprises everyone. You decided to let that anger out you had. The drums echoing it. In this moment, Sukuna achieved something he wanted. He wanted to see you raw, and in your element. He knew this would be good.
After the song was done, your chest was heaving. You felt good. You didn’t want to admit it, but it felt good. You finally got that anger out you had. It didn’t completely absolve it, but it felt so refreshing. You sat down on the couch. You smiled faintly. You didn’t want to admit it….but you felt thankful towards Sukuna. He brought something out of you. Something you didn’t know you needed. You checked your phone, it was almost 9:30pm. You sighed, you let the guys know, “I have to head home soon. I told my dad I wouldn’t spend the night out.” Sukuna sat up getting his stuff, “I can take you home, I was about to head out myself. I have work early tomorrow.”
You didn’t know why you felt so inclined. However, this would be some good alone time to understand Sukuna a bit more. He was an enigma. You knew a part of you still didn’t like him. However, he did help you a bit emotionally rather he knew it or not. You agreed, much to the surprise of the others. You gathered your things and said your goodbyes as Sukuna left out as a head start. Megumi pulled you to the side, “If Sukuna is a dick or does anything, let me know. I’ll kick his ass for you.” You smiled and nodded, “I’ll text you first thing. I’ll also text you when I get home.” Megumi nodded. You soon headed upstairs. You went out and saw Sukuna smoking by his car. His car was a sleek sports car. You raised an eyebrow, “Where do you work to afford that?” Sukuna chuckled, “Your rich girl is showing, now get in.” Sukuna put out his cigarette and got in. You got flustered a bit. You didn’t want to sound rude, but you were generally curious.
You soon got in. You were expecting a car to be filled with beer cans and wrappers everywhere. However, his car was surprisingly very clean and orderly. The all black leather within felt sleek and expensive. You sat down, Sukuna soon turning on his music. The loud beats and drums catching you off guard as you were putting on your seatbelt. He turned it down a bit, but the bass of the music could still be felt through the car. It almost mirrored him. His huge figure becoming more apparent to you as you got a closer look at him. He looked at you, “To answer your question, I work at as a line cook at the restaurant in the heart of downtown.” Out of all the places you considered him working at, you never considered him being a cook. You akwardly speak to him, feeling as though you made a transgression against him, “My adress is 808 S Gilseberry.” Sukuna puts it in his GPS and started to drive. The silence between the both of you being quite solid. You soon spoke up, “I just want to apologize for what I said earlier. I didn’t mean anything by it.” Sukuna didn’t take his eyes off the road, but he laughed softly, “What are you apologizing for, I dont really give a shit what you think. If you want to feel even, I just thought you were some dumb rich college girl that Megumi wouldn’t shut the hell up about. “ You frowned a bit. Nice to know that was how he thought of you. Wait….why did you care? You didn’t say anything for the rest of the ride. Sukuna pulled up to your house. Kaori and Gojo were heading out for a date. Kaori observed the car in front of her house. She heard the music thumping. You looked at her through the tinted windows and sighed. You just had to walk past them and go to your room. Sukuna watched you closely. He could tell you didn’t like the girl looking at his car. This had to be some source of your misery. He smirked as you got out. He decided to rile you up one more time, “ Don’t be late for band practice tomorrow babes.” He made sure he spoke loud enough for the girl behind you to hear. You blushed heavily. You turned around only to see Sukuna pulling off. “That damn bastard.” You thought to yourself.
