Chapter Text
Making love to Rain unlocked something within Phayu that he didn't know was even there. He wanted to know everything. He wanted to examine every single part of his body and find every freckle, every scar, any mole. Anything.
After a third round in the shower which brought them both to their knees, they were laying in the bed, Rain's head on Phayu’s chest, playing with each other's fingers.
Phayu brought Rain’s hand to his mouth and kissed it gently. “You know? I've been really watching your work since you started. And I'll be honest, it pissed me off a little bit that you never seemed to ask for my help or advice and you seemed to pull these ridiculously creative ideas out of thin air.”
Rain kissed his chest as he laughed. “I just wanted you to notice me.”
“Well, you definitely managed that.”
Lifting his head and putting his chin on Phayu’s chest, Rain sighed. “So what do we do now? What’s next?”
“What do you mean what’s next?”
“I mean what's next? For us?”
Phayu’s dark eyes gazed at the little face looking up at him. “Well, we’re obviously together. And we're not going to hide it. I refuse to. I told you teerak, we’re not going back.”
Rain smiled. “Good. I want everybody to know.”
Phayu’s phone buzzed with an incoming message alert. He sat up, running his fingers through his long hair and grabbed the device. Looking at the message, he chuckled, reading the text from his father. Then his uncle. Then his other uncle. And so on down the line.
Rain looked at him quizzically. “What's so funny?”
Phayu replied, “Well, we have tomorrow, but we have been graciously commanded to come to Sunday lunch with my family.”
Rain bit his lip and Phayu reached up and pulled the plump flesh free. Pouting, Rain said, “Well, I’ve met Prapai and one of your uncles? Maybe two? I’m not sure I made the best impression. Are you sure it’s okay?”
Phayu threw his head back and laughed. “Okay is not the word. You don’t refuse a gently worded command from my fathers.”
Rain of course had questions about Phayu’s family and he answered them all. His little bunny was getting a crash course in the chaos he would soon be a part of. They talked deep into the night, never letting go of each other and the passion that simmered underneath the surface sparked into roaring flames once more.
They slept until almost noon on Saturday, worn out from the marathon conversation interspersed with making love. They were able to go two more rounds, one with Rain back downstairs on the kitchen island where the forgotten noodles were, which ended up being a very late night snack. And a second with Rain on his side, cradled in Phayu’s arms, Phayu moving slowly and gently and falling asleep, still inside Rain.
Rain came awake first, yawning and stretching, gazing over at Phayu who was still fast asleep. His long hair had fallen around his cheeks and he was still the most beautiful man that Rain had ever seen.
He loved him so much. So much. He wasn't a bit sorry for all of the things that he did to get him to this point. And he knew it was going to take a little bit for Phayu to catch up but that was okay. He would get there. And it wouldn't even be eventually. He could feel it.
With a naughty smirk, he scooched down underneath the covers that were bunched around Phayu’s waist, feeling the half hard cock his boyfriend, well I guess they were boyfriends now? was sporting.
Clearly the job of a good boyfriend was to take care of things like that. Getting comfortable, Rain gripped the base of Phayu’s cock, licking a stripe up the vein underneath. Rain slowly mouthed by his cock, hearing him groan and shifting his hips in his sleep, not quite pulled out of the depths of slumber.
His dick however was coming wide awake. Since it was semi-hard, Rain could take it all the way down to the base and as he did, the up and down movement of his mouth caused the delicate yet strong piece of flesh in his mouth to harden. With a moan, Phayu’s hands came down and gripped the sides of Rain’s head, moving it up and down in tandem with his hips.
He swiveled them slowly, not thrusting too hard, still caught in the gap between sleepfulness and wakefulness. His abdominal muscles started to tense and Rain used the saliva that was dripping from his mouth along with the pre-cum leaking from Phayu’s cock to coat his hands as he laced his fingers together, twisting them around and up and down, pulling upwards as he suckled downwards.
With a deep rumble that Rain could feel all the way through Phayu’s body, he groaned, “Oh fffffuuuuuuck baby. Fuck that feels so good. Use your mouth on me baby. God I love your mouth.”
Grinning, Rain doubled his efforts, sucking and twisting, faster and faster until he tasted the slightly bitter spend leaking from Phayu’s cock indicating he was close. Phayu couldn’t help the movement of his hips, he thrust up faster and faster and yelled, “Rain, baby wait, wait wait wait I’m… I'm I'm coming I'm coming I'm coming!”
Phayu tried to move Rain’s head away but the smaller man suckled even harder, forming a seal around the head as Phayu’s hips thrust up one final time, saying, “Oh goddddddddddd”, as he came.
Rain took in every bit, swirling his tongue around the softening organ and making Phayu twitch in hypersensitivity.
Phayu dropped his hands to his sides and he lay there like a limp noodle as he fought to keep his head from spinning off. With a minx-like grin, Rain flipped the sheets from over his head and looked up at a thoroughly debauched Phayu.
Raising his head and looking downward he smiled and said, “Well, good morning…”
With a wink Rain replied, “It’s afternoon but good afternoon to you too.”
Unable to resist, Phayu grabbed Rain’s shoulders and pulled him upwards, kissing him and tasting himself on Rain’s tongue. Reaching down, he found Rain’s hard cock and squeezed, causing the smaller man to groan deeply. “Well, I think we need to take care of you too, baby.”
Faster than Rain could comprehend, Phayu flipped them over and reciprocated. The bedroom was soon filled with moans and about 100 different ways of saying, “P’Phayu!" falling from Rain's lips.
Soon, hunger drove them out of the bed and Phayu threw on a pair of sweatpants and no shirt, giving Rain one of his T-shirts and sliding him into a pair of boxers that he gathered at the waist and wrapped a hair tie around so that they wouldn't slide down.
He looks so fucking cute.
They brushed their teeth and made their way downstairs, and as soon as Phayu turned the corner into the kitchen, he burst into laughter.
On the island there were pastries, the smell that indicated that a fresh pot of coffee had been brewed, and a couple of notes next to a large basket.
Rain looked curious. “P’Phayu? That wasn't here last night? Where did that come from?”
Phayu shook his head and clasped one hand over his eyes, groaning in two parts embarrassment, one part resignation.
“Remember when I told you that my family can gracefully command anything? They're also a pain in the ass. I love them to death but oh my God. This is 100% from them. It's got my uncle's signature all over it.”
Rain looked slightly mortified. “Do you think they heard….?” he trailed off as the embarrassment took over.
“Maybe? But you know what, I don't care. And besides, If they heard anything it's their own fault because they shouldn't have been here in the first place!”
“If you're going to spend any length of time around my family, which you will, you better just get used to it. My dad and my Pa are constantly kissing on each other, my Uncle Kinn and my Uncle Porsche are even worse, I don't ever want to know what goes on behind closed doors with my Uncle Khun, to say that the house is a den of iniquity is putting it mildly.”
Rain’s natural curiosity had him bounding forward to look in the basket. As he reached out his hand he pulled it back quickly, “Oh, I’m sorry! I should let you look first!”
Phayu chuckled at the look of curiosity on Rain’s face. “Go ahead, I have a feeling that it’s mostly for you anyway!”
Rain picked up the cloth off the top of the basket and started giggling hysterically. Curious, Phayu came over and looked inside.
Opening the notecard that was on the top, Rain began to read. Rain. This is for you. Not for my caveman nephew. Only you. We have decided that we want to keep you even if Venice, that uncultured child, does not. And if he doesn't treat you well, we have ways of making him regret that with every fingernail and toenail on his body.
Rain's eyebrows raised at that, “Well, that's a new one.”
Make sure you stay hydrated. Make sure you take care of yourself. Because we want you all in one piece tomorrow for Sunday dinner. By the way, that's not a request.
And it was signed, the family.
Rolling his eyes toward the ceiling, Phayu said, “Remember the talk we had about my family yesterday? Well here you go.”
Rain smiled. “You know my parents are divorced, and I love my Mae more than anything. My father and I at least have a cordial relationship but we've never been really close. You'll have to meet them someday.”
Walking over to where Rain was rifling through the basket, laughing at the electrolyte packets, suppositories, protein bars and muscle balm, Phayu wrapped his arm around Rain’s waist and kissed his neck. Closing his eyes, he just inhaled for a moment, soaking in the unique scent and feel of Rain. Why had he fought this for so long? It seemed stupid now.
“You don’t have any proper clothes here. Why don’t we eat and shower and then go by your place to pack a bag. I have a job site to go to for a bit today, would you mind going with me?”
Spinning around, Rain grinned. “Absolutely!! I’d love to go!”
After drinking the coffee and having the pastries, they went upstairs to shower and Phayu kept his hands to himself (with a lot of effort). He grabbed a shirt and a pair of joggers for Rain and chuckled as the clothes seemed to swallow him whole.
Phayu gathered the pants at the waist and said, “You're so fucking cute,” followed by a peck on Rain's nose.
“Cute? I thought I was sexy.” Rain bit his bottom lip in a way that made Phayu immediately yearn to swoop in and replace the small pearly teeth with his own. Shaking his head with a laugh he replied, “You are sexy. Let's go before I show you how much.”
They walked outside and Phayu helped him into the car. They chatted amicably on the way to Rain's house, it was a small apartment that his father paid for as a concession for Rain coming back to Thailand.
Phayu looked at the place with a critical eye. It would do for now. But just for now. The security looked like shit and he definitely didn't want Rain to be anywhere he couldn't have eyes on him.
That was going to have to be a conversation that they were going to have a little bit later. But they would have it. As he'd already said before, there was no going back.
Rain pulled out his keys and opened the door, he and Phayu sliding off their shoes as they walked inside the small apartment.
He looked around and Rain said, “It's not much. I haven't really had a chance to do a lot since I moved here.”
“It's okay.” Inside he said, This is just a temporary spot. If I have my way you'll be with me soon.
He continued, “Believe me when I tell you I didn't start out wanting to live in the house that I did, it just happened that way because of my family and my career.
Lightly swatting Rain on the ass, Phayu said, “Go get dressed, and make sure to bring a couple of extra changes of clothes and work boots suitable for going on to a job site.”
Excited, Rain took off into his bedroom. Phayu busied himself by looking around the place, smiling at some of the photos he saw from his university days and then stopping.
It was a picture of him. A picture of him standing at the podium at Rain's University. He finally recalled that lecture. It blew his mind that the boy had been yearning for him and chasing him that long. He felt a momentary pang in his heart. Rain had YEARS to explore what he felt for Phayu, but the saying, “he fell first, but he fell harder," seemed like it was apropos.
He wanted Rain. All the time. He wanted to see him at his worst, and his best. He wanted to go to work with him every day, and come home with him every night. He wanted holidays and vacations and for him to love his family like he….. wait… like he did?
Did he?
Did he love Rain?
While Phayu stood there dealing with an existential crisis, Rain was in his bedroom changing and packing a bag. He pulled out the photo album he'd looked through almost every day for the past 3 years.
Closing his eyes, he whispered, “I love you, P’Phayu. I hope you can love me too."
Phayu continued to wander around Rain's living room and saw a few pictures of his travels, and frowned when he picked up one of him clearly in Tokyo after racing. The fact that Rain did Tokyo street races still blew his mind.
It was sexy as fuck but he was a bit jealous. A teal haired Rain with his arm around a handsome Japanese man as they held up a trophy made Phayu want to march into the bedroom and make sure Rain knew who he belonged to.
Adjusting himself, looking at his watch and realizing nope they didn't have time, but they would later, he was going to get that boy on the back of his bike and give him the ride of his life. Tokyo drift his ass.
Turning, he heard Rain's footsteps approach behind him. Holding up the picture of himself he arched one brow and said, “I remember this.”
Blushing, Rain took the picture from his hand. “You wouldn't have remembered me. I didn't talk to you. I left right after class was over and didn't stay for the question and answer session.”
A mulish look crossed his face. “Especially with all the stupid questions that people were asking you.”
"Stupid questions?"
“Yes. The very first question somebody asked you was if you were single!”
Phayu let out a laugh at Rain's obvious jealousy.
Crossing his arms, Rain pouted. “They didn't have any right to ask you those questions. They were just being nosy.”
Phayy reached out and tweaked Rain's nose. “Were you jealous even then?” Spinning around, Rain mumbled, “Maybe.”
With a low chuckle, Phayu slid his arms around Rain's waist. Kissing the side of his neck he murmured, “Well now you know, it was all for nothing. Because look where you are and look where they are.”
Spinning back around and pecking Phayu on the lips, Rain grinned and bounced on his heels. “Yep!”
He picked up a small duffel bag and Phayu grabbed it, and they walked out to the car.
They drove out to a job site that Phayu had been working on, and he was actually really interested in bringing Rain out there today.
There were a few issues he was having with the flow of the design, and he wanted another pair of eyes to look at it.
Rain was fascinated. Even though it was a Saturday, the job was behind so there were some people working. Not everybody in the crew but enough.
Phayu stopped the car and hopped out, putting on a hard hat and safety vest, and doing the same for Rain. Kissing him on the nose, he intertwined their fingers and walked to where the foreman, a man that had worked with him for years, was standing.
The man waved, “Khun! What are you doing here on a Saturday?"
Phayu answered, “I wanted to see how things were coming along and also bring another pair of eyes to see if they could provide some insight."
The older man raised an eyebrow at seeing his boss with such a cute young man, obviously by their body language they were involved.
He gave a wai and said, “Sawadee Khap! My name is Ja!"
Rain gave wai back. “Sawadee Khap, my name is Rain, nice to meet you!"
With a tilt of his head and a raised brow, Ja looked at the two men's intertwined hands.
Blushing, Phayu said, "Yes, this is my partner, and my faen.”
Rain preened inside at the term partner. It made him feel respected.
Phayu said, “I want him to take a look at a couple of things because I think that he might be able to give us a little bit of a different perspective.”
Phayu had never gotten to see Rain in his work element before, not like this.
With single-minded focus the boy walked around, looking at the site. It was part of a repurposed area, the neighborhood around it had really fallen into disrepair and the project was a school that needed significant work.
The building was unsafe for children and one of the things that was really needed was accessibility for those without means.
The playground area and the entire grounds of the school were seriously lacking.
After walking around for about 15 minutes and concentrating, Rain spun around and said, “P’Phayu? Do you know if you made some changes here and here you could make room for adaptive equipment for children with disabilities and also make wider pathways to take up some of this empty space. That would help with what looks like some drainage issues too.”
The foreman and Phayu looked at each other. That was something that they hadn't actually thought about.
Phayul pulled out his iPad and pulled up the CAD drawings, and the three men went over some changes that, though seemingly minor, would make a massive difference.
Working with Rain was; Phayu didn't know how to describe it. He had worked with architects around the world but it was different this time. Watching this boy, this boy that saw him and wanted him, not his family, not his money, not his status, just him, was doing things to his emotions.
The existential crisis he'd been having before seemed to say that the universe was trying to tell him something.
Rain borrowed an extra iPad and was walking around, muttering and typing things and Ja slid next to Phayu with a smile.
Bumping shoulders with the younger man he said, “So? You've never brought anyone here…. And does your family know?”
Suddenly bashful, Phayu met the older man's eyes. “Yeah. I know. He's… I think… no, I know he's the one. And I think my family might just like him more than me!”
With a laugh Ja clapped him on the shoulder. “Well? I definitely approve.”
That warmed Phayu from the inside out. Being raised the way he had, he knew he was privileged. But his Pa Pete made sure that even though he was part of a dynasty of wealth? Never forget those who didn't have. Never forget those or look down on those that have less than you. Never shame anyone for being poor or hard-working.
Pete came from a very poor background with an abusive father and was raised by his grandmother after his father was killed over unpaid debts and trying to double cross the Mafia.
His Dad Vegas was Mafia royalty. But Pete kept him humble. And that was something that Phayu would always be grateful for.
Even though Rain clearly came from means, he fit right in and wasn't afraid to get dirty just like anybody else. Watching him fit in with his crew made Phayu's heart happy.
After another hour or so they finished up and the crew told Rain he was welcome to come back anytime. As they walked back to the car Rain grabbed his Phi’s hand, bouncing with excitement.
“P’Phayu! Oh my gosh that was amazing! I haven't really gotten to do a lot of site work before and it was great to meet everybody and see everything and be immersed in the experience and…,”
Phayu grabbed Rain by the shoulders, and out of sight of the crew, spun him around with his back to the SUV. Plucking off the hard hat and holding it in his hand, he bent down and took Rain's mouth in a burning hot kiss. Rain's knees went weak and the larger man literally had to hold him up.
Pulling his mouth free, Phayu curled his tongue around Rain's earlobe and whispered, “You looked so fucking sexy out there, you have no idea how much you turned me on.”
He pulled back and Rain’s pupils were blown wide. He gaped like a fish and Phayu winked at him, tapping him under the chin to close his mouth.
“All right baby, let's go so we can get washed up and get some dinner?”
Rain nodded, still unable to speak because Phayu had literally kissed the sense out of him.
They drove back to Phayu's house, the man chuckling as he kept glancing at Rain, sitting gobsmacked in the passenger seat.
They pulled back up to the house and Phayu opened Rain's door, pulling him out and hoisting the boy's legs around his waist.
Carrying him into the house, he pressed Rain against the front door, taking his mouth in a scorching kiss. Tongues dueling, Phayu tilted his hips up and ground his erection against Rain, causing the smaller man to gasp. Throwing his head back against the door, Rain gasped as his lover suckled a mark of possession at the juncture of his neck and shoulder.
The larger man whispered, “I want you.”
Suffused with pure need, Rain replied, “I want you too.”
Turning, Phayu carried Rain into the living room and sat on the couch. Shifting Rain's knees so he straddled his waist, he took Rain's chin in his hand and looked him in the eye. “You have no idea how fucking jealous and furious and horny I was seeing you on the back of Pai’s bike.”
“I wanted it to be me. I wanted you to ride with me. I want you to ride me.
A beautiful flush traveled up Rain's cheeks and he looked down at Phayu through hooded eyes. Licking his lips he whispered, “Show me. Show me how.”
With a growl, how you covered Rain's mouth with his own once more; the two of them frantically tearing at their clothes, needing that skin on skin contact.
As Rain got his shirt off, Phayu leaned forward and suckled one nipple into his mouth, teasing it to diamond hardness. Clutching Phayu’s head to his chest, Rain threw his head back and groaned, the sensations going straight to his cock.
Hips moving, each of them seeking the friction they needed, Phayu unbuttoned Rain's pants and slid his hand inside, cupping his dick.
“Oh God, P’Phayu…” Switching between nipples, Phayu kept suckling them, stroking Rain's cock until he felt Rain's hips lock up and he came, his spend coating Phayu's hand.
Urging Rain up to his knees, sliding just one leg out of his pants and underwear, he reached behind the smaller, using his own cum to open him up. One long finger penetrated his ass, then another, Rain panting with breathless anticipation.
Scissoring his fingers to spread Rain’s hole, he prepped him and when Rain’s cock had hardened once more, his precum dripping down the front, Phayu reached down and undid his own pants, pulling out his own dick. He lifted Rain and then stopped, leaning his head forward. “Fuck. I don’t have a condom.”
Rain looked Phayu in the eyes. “You were my first. And I want you to be my last. Nobody else. Nobody.”
Phayu had never been bare inside anyone before. But he WOULD be Rain’s last. Spreading Rain’s cheeks, he slowly penetrated, each man groaning at the contact. The warmth, the tightness, took Phayu’s breath away.
Once Phayu bottomed out, Rain leaned forward, resting his forehead against Phayu’s. Breathing deeply, they took a moment, just to feel. Just to feel.
Phayu began to move, whispering to Rain as he undulated his hips, telling him how beautiful he was, how amazing he was, how he was the best rider. Phayu gripped Rain’s hips, thrusting upwards and hitting his prostate unerringly, and soon the two men reached their peak. Rain fell first, coming with a shout all over Phayu’s stomach; Phayu tipped over the edge right after, the feel of his cum without a condom around his cock in Rain’s ass, overwhelming and unlike anything he’d ever felt before.
They sat there, connected, waiting for their breathing to settle. The words, “I love you” were ready to fall from Rain’s lips, but he held back, uncertain of their reception.
The words, “I love you” were fluttering around tentatively inside Phayu’s heart, unsure if he was ready to say them.
Later that evening while having a simple dinner, Rain suddenly gasped. “OH MY GOSH!!”
With a frown, Phayu looked at him in concern. “What’s wrong?”
The boy looked at him with wide panicked eyes. “I NEED STUFF!”
“Stuff?”
“Yes!” He looked at the clock, it was still early. “Is there any way we can get something delivered for tomorrow?”
Phayu wasn’t following this train of conversation at all. “What do you want delivered?”
Rain replied, “I need condensed milk and ice and toppings!”
Phayu scratched his head. “Okay…. I’m still confused….”
Rain was clearly panicking. “I'm meeting your family tomorrow! I cannot come empty-handed! And I want to give them a Korean dessert!”
Phayu STARTED to say before Rain cut him off with an actual growl.. “You don’t have…” Phayu wisely shut up.
“Yes. I. Do. It’s hospitality and I want to make a good impression and don’t you dare try to tell me I don’t have to bring anything because I will NOT show up to meet your fathers empty handed!!”
Wide eyed at the display of righteous indignation that Rain was producing, Phayu nodded. “How about I make things a bit easier on you. I can call the staff at my father’s house and tell them exactly what you need, that way it can already be there and ready for you to cook whatever you want to cook when we get there tomorrow. Would that work?”
Grinning, Rain nodded furiously. “Can I talk to them too?” With a chuckle, Phayu dialed the number to the main house.
Chan picked up the phone, “Venice?”
“Yes P’Chan it’s me.”
“Why are you calling the main house?" "I actually need you to do me a favor. Can you transfer me over to P’Fern?”
Chan held the receiver away from his ear and stared at it. Why was Venice calling and asking to speak to the head of the kitchens? “Okaaay,,,, hold on
“P’Fern?” The longtime head of the Theerapanyakul kitchens answered the phone with a smile as she realized who was calling.
“Khun Venice?” Phayu had the phone on speaker and Rain smiled at the warmth he heard in the woman's voice. “Oh my little one! I don't see you nearly enough anymore!”
“I know P’Fern, I promise I'll visit more. You're on speaker phone with my faen.”
“Oh?” Rain smiled and blushed. “Sawadee Khap, my name is Rain!”
“Oh my little Venice, you need to bring him to meet me!” Phayu kissed Rain on the back of the hand, encouraging him to continue. “That is actually what I am calling about. I am meeting the family for lunch tomorrow and I want to make a special dessert that my mae taught me to make in Korea. Do you think you could help me?”
Fern smiled. Venice had NEVER had anyone speak to her before, so she knew the boy was special. “Of course!” Rain listed off the ingredients that he needed and how long he thought it would take to prepare the dish.
“I can definitely take care of that! I can’t wait to meet you!”
Phayu said his goodbyes and looked at Rain, who was currently bouncing up and down on the barstool, smiling from ear to ear.
The two of them spent the rest of the evening cuddled in each other's arms, comparing experiences in school, talking about their friends and families and more.
Sweet dad: Are we ready for tomorrow?

The next morning, Phayu sat in the bed with his hands behind his head, chest bare and laughing as Rain was running around his bedroom clad only in a pair of socks and boxer briefs with Pokémon on them. He had a face mask on and his hair was up in a Panda headband.
“Baby, whatever you wear will be fine, I promise!”
Rain spun around and fixed him with a glare that could melt steel. “P’Phayu. How can you SAY THAT! They saw me in BOOTY SHORTS. I need to look good! I only packed 3 choices for today!”
He finally picked out a pair of dark skinny jeans that looked dressy, a red silk shirt that had wide sleeves and slid off one shoulder, and a pair of low black boots.
Phayu prowled over to him and gently bit the side of his neck, causing Rain’s eyes to roll back in his head and his knees to buckle. “You look gorgeous. They’ll love you.”
Turning around and seeing Rain blinking at him from behind a Korean face mask had Phayu laughing. “I’m going to go get dressed and we can go.”
Rain’s mouth jaw fell to the floor when they pulled up to the Theerapanyakul compound. The main house was Italian in style and as they drove up the cobblestone path, his head swiveled back and forth. “P’Phayu, you grew up here???”
With an indulgent smile, Phayu looked at the man at his side. “Yes, I did. It’s just a house.”
The eye roll Rain gave him was epic. “Um…. no. This is an architectural estate of marvelousness.”
Phayu pulled the SUV to a stop and turned to Rain. “Remember, just be yourself and don’t be nervous.” He kissed Rain and opened the door, hopping out and going to the passenger side and opening Rain’s door. Helping him out, Phayu turned and saw Chan approaching.
“Venice, welcome home.”
Rain whispered, “I still can’t get used to you having another name.” Chan smiled and gave wai. “I’m Chan, nice to meet you.”
Rain gave wai back. “P’Chan, I’m Rain, nice to meet you too!” Chan led them into the house where Rain was struck dumb by an unholy screech.
“FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!! YOU’RE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
A vision was running towards Rain. A vision of what exactly, he wasn’t sure. It… looked like a Thai person dressed as Beyonce. White boots, hat, the whole thing.
The vision screeched to a halt in front of him and immediately gasped. “The skinny jeans. The boots. The OFF THE SHOULDER SHIRT?? WHO ARE YOU!! Don’t answer that. I already know who you are. You’re my soon to be bestie. Don’t look like that Venice. It’s your own fault. You’re the one that never brings anyone home and then when you finally do after…well… we can talk about that later. Anyway, you bring this exquisite creature home and we’re keeping you.”
Rain’s eyes got wider and wider with each sentence. Phayu took pity on his poor boyfriend and intercepted his uncle.
“Uncle Khun, this is Rain. Rain, this is one of my uncles, Tankhun Theerapanyakul.”
Tankhun smiled at the darling gummi bear in front of him. “You and I need to talk fashion. Because that outfit IS OFF THE HOOK!”
A doe eyed young man appeared, followed closely by the most beautiful emo looking man he’d ever seen. “Uncle Khun, I think it’s off the chain now.”
The doe eyed man turned to Rain. “I’m Porchay, but you can call me Chay.” The emo man stopped and eyed Phayu with a sharp smile. “So, I can see the boy walked in here on his own.”
Rain’s eyes ping ponged between the two different beautiful men, one with slightly sharper features than the other. With a smirk Phayu replied, “Oh dear uncle, I held back.”
Rain’s mouth dropped open and Tankhun whooped. “VENICE YOU DID NOT.”
The gorgeous man threw his head back and laughed, turning to Rain. “I’m Venice’s uncle Kim. And this one here is my husband.” Wrapping an arm around Chay, he pulled the smiling puppy man in for a buss on the cheek.
Rain smiled and gave wai to them both. “It’s nice to meet you.” Suddenly, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. It was like a cold breeze blew over him and his internal warning system screamed, “DANGER”.
He heard one of the smoothest voices he'd ever heard. “Well son, it’s nice to finally meet the person that made you forget who you were for what was it….almost a month?” Followed by, “Hush. Leave him alone; he’s here isn’t he?”
Rain turned and saw two men approaching, one a damn near carbon copy of his Phayu, the other with a more rounded face and open expression with kind eyes. The cat-like man strode up with a smirk on his sharp face. He held out a hand and said, “I’m Vegas and this is my husband Pete.”
Phayu wrapped his arm around Rain’s waist, bringing him close. “Dad, Por; this is Rain.”
THESE WERE P’PHAYU’S FATHERS??? Rain stammered, “It’s nice to meet you.” Vegas had a twinkle in his eye as if he had a secret that nobody else knew. He stepped forward and brought Rain close, giving him a brief hug. Whispering in his ear Vegas said, “Seeing him in class all those years ago is finally worth it, yes?”
Rain’s brain shorted out for a second before his natural sass took over. With a slow smile he looked the older man in the eyes. “I always knew it would be.”
Nonplussed, Vegas threw back his head and laughed, a full belly laugh. “Venice. Keep this one.”
The rest of the family soon trickled in to make their introductions. Rain had already met Porsche, but finally met his gorgeous and dangerous Uncle Kinn. He met Saifah and Heam, having seen a picture of Phayu’s twin when he was stalking his social media in the past. And last but not least, Prapai and Sky entered, Sky making a beeline for Rain.
Turning him this way and that he said, “Are you okay?”
Rain hugged Sky tightly. “I’m fine. I’m better than fine. I’m amazing.”
The large group moved to the dining room for lunch, where Rain was grilled about every facet of his life. Phayu rolled his eyes, knowing damn well that his family probably already knew his shoe size, what type of shampoo he used, any allergies and his bank account balance.
Rain held his own, charming everyone at the table as Phayu kept their hands intertwined underneath. Rain fit in perfectly. Seeing him, in this element, with his family; it cemented the feelings he’d been trying to shy away from.
Once the meal was coming to a close, P’Fern came into the dining room and looked at Rain. “Are you ready?” Rain jumped up with a smile and a nod. The older woman held out a hand and Rain turned and blew a kiss at Phayu. “I’ll be right back!”
The rest of the table frowned in confusion and Pete said, “What’s going on?”
Phayu smiled as he watched the man he finally knew he loved disappear out of the room. “Rain was insistent on making a Korean dessert for the family.”
Tankhun melted. “What a sweet bunny. We like him. Don’t mess this up.”
Without Rain there, the room’s attention shifted to Phayu, who knew he was going to get the 4th degree.
Vegas tilted his head and looked at his son. “So, what are your intentions?” Phayu blushed to the tips of his ears and sighed. “I’ve only known him for a month, dad…”
Porsche looked around at the table. “Since when did that matter?” Prapai laughed, knowing that the men of this family saw what they wanted and didn’t fuck around and wait. Phayu had always been a bit more cautious, but when he fell, he fell hard.
Phayu looked at his family. The men who raised him and made him who he was. His uncles Kinn and Porsche, who embodied fierceness and playfulness. His fathers, who embodied loyalty and discipline. His uncles Chay and Kim, who embodied persistence and forgiveness. His uncle Khun and his partners, Arm and Pol, who embodied acceptance and being true to oneself. His cousin and best friend Prapai and his love Sky, who embodied perseverance and healing.
“I’m in this for the long haul dad.”
Just then, Rain came back into the room with Fern and a huge tray on wheels was being pushed in front of them.
Prapai’s eyes widened at all of the colorful things on the tray. “What is this?”
Rain said, “This is Bingsu! It’s shaved ice that is sweetened and you can top it with any or all of these!” There was mango, strawberries, sweetened red beans and more. The rainbow of toppings fit Rain’s smile, and it made Phayu’s heart thud in his chest.
Fern told Rain he was welcome in her kitchen any time as the family exclaimed in excitement and tasted all the toppings. As Phayu watched Rain’s face and saw the joy and acceptance in his family’s eyes when they looked at the beautiful man next to him, Phayu reached for Rain’s hand under the table once more, and with his forefinger, traced a heart in the palm of Rain’s hand. He then wrote, “I love you.” with his finger, feeling as if a weight had just been lifted from inside his very soul.
Rain froze, mouth dropping open slightly as everything in the room faded away. He turned to look at Phayu and blinked. Phayu nodded. He didn’t say a word. The two of them were in a bubble of their own making, neither of them even noticing that all conversation around them had ceased.
Rain’s eyes filled with tears and his lower lip trembled. “P’....P’Phayu…. Did you mean it?” Phayu looked at the boy that had a crush on him for so many years, and knew that this boy was the last one he would ever kiss, ever hold close at night, and ever love. He reached up his free hand and cupped Rain’s cheek. He put their foreheads together and closed his eyes. “I love you Rain.” Sniffling, Rain replied, “I love you too P’Phayu.”
Their bubble unceremoniously burst hearing, “I’M CRYING!!!!! WHY ARE THESE TEARS OF JOY COMING FROM MY OWN FACE EYES! THAT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I’VE EVER SEEN! SOMEONE BETTER HAVE RECORDED IT!”
With a grin Phayu whispered, “Let’s really give them something to talk about,” before he swooped in, taking Rain’s mouth in a deeply passionate kiss, the cheers and whoops of the room around them were silenced by the gasp that Rain made and the low groan that was pulled from Phayu’s throat as they affirmed their love to each other, and to everyone else.
