Gifts are like oxygen tanks. Often carelessly unattended when not in use, left in view of those who could sabotage them. Utilized as such, they can kill. Can turn trust into a commodity, bought and paid.
Utilized correctly, though, and the right dosage can bring the dead back to life. Can make knights of bones and armor and vow.
Gifts had so much power.
Enough to hide something pure, unspliced, in a casket of metal.
