Work Text:
San wasn’t going to lose, Not Wee, Not the stone, and not a single member of his own family, and that was that…
Sure he was dying He could tell without even needing Tao’s expertise that the goddess’s birthday was drawing near… just from the force of the pain he was feeling… and the force of the symptoms…
But despite all of that, He wasn’t going to risk it, wasn’t going to play into a game that could simply make him lose Wee again… lose his chance at love again…
So When he stepped into the old theater and saw Suchat and Chan there, He had a clear idea in mind.
He would end them… there was no other way, no other possible outcome that all of them would walk away from this, he tried that before and things didn’t end well for them - evidently…
then for things to go even worse, Chan’s men caught Wee… and Chan shot him…
Because San had failed… San had risked Wee’s life… and now they both might pay for that.
The aftermath of the fight was a blur…
Suchat and Chan killed each other, and San simply ended anyone who stood between him and protecting Wee, He didn’t see Third and Tao, knew without a doubt Ju was somewhere with Wee…
The second the dust settled around him, He ran back into the theater looking for Ju and Wee, the stone safely tucked in his pocket, the promise of all things to come to a proper end was not far now…
till he saw the blood covering Wee’s chest, and realized that Wee had probably protected Ju when San was so busy getting the stone back.
Curse that stone… and curse everything if Wee was going to die on him…
Third wasn’t having any of it… but then again he hadn’t been having any of it for a while, He didn’t believe in the stone power or the fact that San was almost one hundred years old, and if San was true to himself, Third dealt with him like a human and it was such a breath of fresh air…
“We cannot wait till the doc comes back, Tao! Use the stone!”
Tao said the exact same thing that San had been fearing, the stone couldn’t be used for both acts, couldn’t handle healing Wee and then San on the goddess’ birthday, that couldn’t happen.
San had to make a choice, had to choose his life or Wee’s…
“The Stone will elaborate if you choose to heal Wee… Do you understand what that can mean?”
San understood, understood all too well what that meant, but he was done living alone, done living while other people died around him, done living without love, he wasn’t letting Wee die for him, even if it meant that he would die for Wee…
“But…”
“No, But… Help him, I know what I am saying…”
and Tao did…
—
Wee didn’t remember much after he saw San was safe…
all he could feel was pain, and all he knew was pain, but it was worth it for him because San was safe, everything would be alright, he had the stone with him and things would be just fine…
even if Wee wasn’t there to see it…
Part of him was sad, he loved San… might have loved no one like he had loved San, and would always, forever miss him, but another part of him was just glad that he would get to be reunited with his parents - and when the inevitable was to happen - with his grandmother…
He didn’t expect the nightmares… didn’t expect to see himself losing San…
and didn’t expect to feel any more pain…
but the more he chased after San, the more the pain in his chest increased…
till he jerked awake…
He was surprised to see San next to him, even more, surprised to see himself in a hospital bed, San and Third reaching out to placate him.
He could see San was more than happy to see him awake, he touched his own chest, he couldn’t feel the bullet that he knew had lodged itself there.
“Third? The bullet?”
“Bullet? It was only a graze…” San said, answering before Third got to…
“Then What?”
“It’s probably the exhaustion, the scare, and the blood loss from the other wound, you have been asleep for two days already…”
Wee dropped back to his pillows…
all was well that ended well…
right?
—
Ju liked to say that her great-grandfather was a great man…
and great men outdid themselves with great sacrifices… Or at least that was how it felt when she sat to eat her lunch with Wee and her great grandfather…
He was all smiles and softness, dotting on Wee who had just been discharged from the hospital, because while the stone could heal critical wounds, it couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to heal emotional ones and certainly wouldn’t heal Wee’s bloodloss, so Third had forced San to take Wee to a hospital…
But the stone was gone… disintegrated as it healed the worst of Wee’s wounds…
which meant that San had no chance during the ceremony, that his body would begin to suffer and fail him till he died on the goddess birthday.
and Noone… Not even she could say a thing about it…
—
San had been prepared to die long before Wee showed up in his life…
He had spent decades and then some trying to find his lover without success, long enough that by then it was entirely pointless to even believe that he would be able to find his lover.
But then he found Wee… found him when he least expected it, and his test had begun anew…
Because waiting wasn’t the test… but the test was whether he changed for the better and understood what love was or not…
And he hadn’t, at least in the beginning… He had to almost lose Wee twice to fully get what it would mean to love and lose, how lucky he had been to get not a chance but two…
Hence he wasn’t going to lose Wee, not in the same manner he lost Wad, and definitely not to keep his own life, which had lost its meaning after Wad and would be entirely pointless if he lost Wee now…
But the aftermath was awful…
Not because of the pain, but because of having to hide everything from Wee, knowing full well that he would die on him, that Wee won’t only lose his grandmother but also his lover…
He hoped he would be strong enough not to crumble down, but he doubted it…
—
Proposing to Wee again wasn’t for anything other than San wanted to see him smile, wanted to settle the score with the world, to give Wee the things without an ulterior motive…
To tie knots with him for the sake of marriage, not to repeal bad luck.
and because Wee’s grandmother deserved to see him happy even if it was the last thing she would ever do…
“Take care of my Grandson…”
“I will take care of him till my last breath…”
Not a lie, but not fully the truth, He was pretty sure he would soon lose the ability to do anything altogether…
He held Wee tightly in his arms that night, not bearing to see him in pain, let alone he would soon feel the same for San as well…
He barely managed to make him fall asleep, prompted by his mental and physical exhaustion.
But when the pain started, He knew he ran out of time to love Wee and keep him safe…
—
He didn’t expect Third to be like that…
Hell, he didn’t expect a shit load of things, He didn’t expect to fall in love with Wee, didn’t expect to find an identical Wad in Wadfar only to let her go, and certainly didn’t expect Prince Tri to be Third…
The fact that he was a doctor came in handy because he knew what to give San to take the edge of the pain off since nothing seemed to be able to do the trick with his pain.
“You have to tell him, this is selfish of you…”
He was right, but San wouldn’t bear to see Wee in pain again, he could barely bear to see Wee in pain as he knew that his grandmother’s days were limited and passing way faster than he wanted them to…
“That’s not your choice to make…”
He didn’t make any choices, on the contrary, all the choices had been made on his behalf, he was only trying to protect Wee…
and He would…
—
Third could bear a shit load of things, But Wee’s pain wasn’t one of them…
“I cannot find him…”
He heard Wee whisper in the aftermath of his grandmother’s funeral, where his tears cascaded way too fast, and never seemed to find an end…
“Who?”
“San… He is gone… I… I cannot find him, I need him, he promised he wouldn’t leave me…”
Third swallowed hard, He knew the truth, He could ease Wee’s pain if only he would utter the words he had been keeping for all those days…
“When I am gone, Take care of him, I am counting on you…” San had said…
Third contemplated doing as San said, but Wee… Wee wasn’t going to forget San, wasn’t going to let him go from his heart even if he was no longer among the living…
and Third could bear anything, but not Wee’s pain…
“He… I remember… I know I was shot… Was that what had happened? you have been there… tell me what had happened?”
Third wracked his brain looking for a proper lie, he would buy San a day at most, and convince him that the more he tried to avoid Wee the worse everything would turn out for both him and Wee…
“I… I thought about it… I know what happend…”
“What do you mean?” Third asked, dreading the answer and the question.
“I know I was dying, I felt I was dying… I am sure San used the stone to save my life… I… I wasted his chance at life, I wasted his chance in life and now he won't forgive me… He left me…”
If Third thought he had a chance at buying some time for San, He pretty much knew that it was impossible now, not when Wee was thinking like that…
Not when Wee was hurting like that…
—
San didn't sleep… Couldn't sleep…
The pain medications Third gave him helped a bit to take the edge of the pain off, that he could breathe without feeling like there was fire in his lungs, but he saw his body in the mirror, He knew it was only a matter of time now till he would crumble into dust entirely.
and When Third - assumingly - left for work that morning, leaving him in Tao's care, He had a look that told San that things were more dire than he thought…
He hoped Third would go to see Wee, hoped he would take good care of him as he mourned his grandmother…
as he lost San…
He didn't expect Third to walk back in a couple of hours later with Wee in tow…
Didn't expect his pain to ease without medication, his lungs could finally draw in air…
“P’San…”
and just like that, San's resolution crumbled…
—
Wee's heart couldn't take anything, yet he had to put on a brave face…
His grandmother was dead, and his lover… the love of his life was dying right before his own eyes…
Third didn't have it in his heart to keep a secret from Wee, whether he decided to do as much because he wanted Wee and San to be together or just because he pitied Wee… Wee simply didn't care anymore…
He had to see San, to stop him from hiding… to not allow him to die alone…
“Don't you love me anymore? because I stole your chance?”
the horror on San's face told Wee that he hadn't thought of that, that he had done what he had done to spare Wee from going through seeing a loved one die again…
“I will do nothing but love you till the very last breath in my lungs…”
and He did… San came home with him because if death was coming anyway he might as well die in Wee's arms…
Third made sure to tell him about the medications he gave San to keep him comfortable for the time being, but Wee wasn't an idiot, he had seen his grandmother in the hospital before…
San was weakening by the hour not even the day as they approached the goddess's birthday…
—
Thankfully, everyone was there on the goddess's birthday, Because Tao wasn't ready to face his failure alone…
and he wasn't ready to fail in saving San alone… after all of those years…
“I will… I will recite a prayer to guide your soul…”
He had prayed for a miracle for days, for nights, he had sworn every auth and begged with everything for a solution, but the way San looked right then told him that all solutions were exhausted, and San was ready to die…
He could see Wee's tears if not everyone's already cascading down their faces… He felt his own start falling down as San's muted gasps of pain turned into something worse…
San was dying… and Tao was going to be the temptest to witness it…
—
Wadfar knew she was cursed the second she walked out of the theater that day…
Because other than Chan and Suchat dying at the hand of each other, everything seemed to go from bad to worse…
She lost her apartment and had to move into one of the rural areas in the city, no tattoo parlor wanted to hire her because of her record…
She couldn't draw… her hand shaking every time she held a brush, colors looking like they were muted and pretty much dead to her…
It was her curse for playing with someone's fate, her curse for making someone suffer…
Things came to a head when she had - literally - hit the floor…
The goddess's birthday…
San…
No Stone…
San was going to die and she was going to be cursed eternally…
Part of her wanted them to pay for her rotten luck, another part was scared of the retribution that would follow San's death because, unlike the last time, She had something to do about it this time…
She went back home drenched in dirty clothes, looking like a mad woman as she searched for the tiny jar that contained the shred of the stone…
because what she hadn't told Chan or Suchat was that the stone had shuttered before, and she had kept the shred as a bargaining chip…
Because she didn't think they all were ready to die for the stone, not when San decided he would rather die without the stone…
She looked at the Jar…
Maybe that would be her only chance of luck…
—
Wee wanted to kill Wadfar the second Third and Ton led her into the temple…
all of that had happened because of her, all of their suffering was her doing…
“I… I have part of the stone…”
Wee's mind stopped working and from the way everyone talked at the same time, he was pretty sure everyone else had the same problem…
But San was dying before his own eyes… something needed to be done…
One second he was looking at Tao for an answer and the next Wadfar grabbed his hand, and put the shred in it before forcing it into San's mouth…
and All hell broke loose…
San was spasming as if his body was connected to a livewire… like he was being electrocuted into an inch of his life, his screams echoed in the temple like a tortured soul being punished…
before he stelled and everything around them did as well…
Wee crawled to where San was sprawled on the floor, lifting his blackness-ridden chest into his lap and checking if he was breathing…
He wasn't… His heart wasn't beating… and Wee wailed…
“Wee! Look!!”
He saw what was Ju pointing at, but he couldn't believe it… didn't understand it…
the black veins that had been like a death omen were disappearing from San's chest before he could see his chest rise and fall with weak but steady breaths…
“Step aside, Wee…”
Third practically pushed him gently, checking San's pulse and breath…
“He… He is alive…” Third announced, in wonder…
Wee's tears came down in relief, happiness… in wonder as he felt San's arm clutch him…
“Wee…”
Wee didn't hear the commotion Wadfar had done before leaving, didn't even bother looking at her…
He could look nowhere but at San… His lover… Alive…
—
“He is fine… I assure you he is…” Third said in what's probably have been the hundredth time since they had taken San back home…
Because San was indeed alive, but incredibly weak, and If Third had a thing to say about it then it was expected in the light of all that he had been since his symptoms had worsened…
He had faded again once they were in the car leading them to the house, and Third took that as enough of a chance to examine him more closely…
“He is fine, Wee… Just weak… He needs some rest and nutrition…”
Wee nodded, eyes not leaving the prone form on the bed…
“He is fine…”
“Yes He is… Don't worry, It will pass in a couple of days…”
Wee nodded, Third couldn't help but leave them in privacy, telling the exact same thing to Tao and the rest of the family…
They offered him to stay the night, in part because it was late already, and in another, because they were still worried something would happen to San…
Third didn't refuse, he was mentally drained as it was…
He didn't even have time to examine the room as he slept the second his head hit the pillow…
—
Wee couldn't leave San's side, not for a second…
He had been preparing himself mentally for days that San was going to die, was going to leave him…
that he was going to lose everyone he loved, only for his miracle to come alive for him…
Third had told him that he was still weak, that he needed to rest and recover from his ordeal, not that Wee disagreed but he longed for San to wake up… to assure him that none of what had happened was a dream…
But despite that… San slept through the night… barely steering… Wee looked at him, but couldn't do anything else, Ju and Rat offered to relieve Wee, but he couldn't bear the thought of being anywhere else but within touching range of San…
He didn't know when he closed his eyes, didn't know when the sun had shone…
he only knew that he opened his eyes and there was San, looking at him…
“P’San…”
San smiled, and hummed, hand coming up to rest on Wee's cheek…
He looked tired, closer to falling asleep again than being awake, and Wee knew he needed his rest… knew that he had suffered enough…
“I am fine, Wee… Don't worry… Just tired…”
“Then rest, P’San… I will be here, not going anywhere…”
San hummed, closing the space between him and Wee and practically pulling him impossibly close to him…
“I love you, Wee…”
Wee loved him more… Way more…
—
San didn't remember being that exhausted in his life before…
He knew he was dying… but then he wasn't, then everything had calmed down, there was no pain, no agony…
and then there was Wee, holding him, smiling at him…
He was not dead… He was alive… Somehow…
He didn't get to ask Wee about what had happened yet, But Wee was there and that was the most important part, more important than the technicality of him being fully human again…
He slept.. prompted in part by his extreme exhaustion, and in part by the utter relief that he wouldn't suffer, wouldn't wait… he had his lover in his arms and tomorrow would come bringing new hope.
Every time San opened his eyes Wee was there… and that was a a balm to his soul…
It was a couple of days till he felt like he would be able to get out of bed without collapsing… or at least till Third allowed him to…
“Come to the hospital in a few days, we need to get you checked Mr. 100 years…”
San couldn't help the chuckle, He wasn't worried about Third anymore, Wee had chosen to stay with San, and life chosen to give San another chance… Third would be their friend, part of their family…
Wee helped him sit up in bed, pushing and fluffing several pillows around him before San used the little energy he had to pull him close…
“P’San! What?”
“I missed you… How have you been? What have you been up to?”
It was Ju who answered… because she wasn’t the one to miss an opportunity to gossip…
“Up To… He didn’t leave your side for even a second… He didn’t even allow us to help…”
San smiled, He couldn’t help it…
“Are you ok, My Wee? Love?”
Wee blushed softly, and San couldn’t help but pull him even closer and kiss him…
“Shia! Great Grandpa, I am still in the room…”
“Then get out, Ju!” Wee said jokingly…
Wee settled next to San, pulled him to rest his head on his shoulder, and carded his fingers in San’s hair, much like that night when San’s pain disappeared when Wee was close.
“You scared me, P’San!” Wee said it in a low voice, San could hear the tremble in his voice.
“Sorry! I was scared myself… didn’t think I was going to see your pretty face again…”
San felt Wee’s lips against the side of his head, Wee being impossibly close to him…
“How are you feeling?”
“Just… Calm…”
“Just Calm?”
“Like there was so much noise in my head and now it’s just calm… so calm…”
Wee hummed…
“Sleep a bit… Third said you need your rest for a bit… but once you are awake again, I am getting you out of that bed, to get some fresh air and eat something nice, Rat and Chong are very worried about you…”
He wanted to tell them not to worry, wanted to assure Wee that everything was fine now, because, for the very first time in a hundred years, He was fine…
But the lull of sleep was stronger, and he went back to dreamless sleep before he could even know it.
—
Watching San sleep and rest, healed a part of Wee’s heart that he didn’t know he had hurt, because despite knowing he was safe and sound now, Wee didn’t forget that San almost died in his arms.
“P’Way?”
He turned to see Ju standing behind the door, looking at San worriedly…
“Yes, Ju?”
“Is he still asleep?”
Wee hummed, hand resting on San’s shoulder…
“Third said it’s normal considering everything that had happened, He said that his system took a huge hit, and while his physical body is healed, his… everything else is pretty suffering from all the things, add to that the huge range of sedatives and Painkilers he had been taking for days…”
Ju nodded, coming a bit closer…
“Are you ok, P’Wee? You hadn’t eaten all day… He would worry about you if he knew that you don’t do anything other than sit next to him…”
Wee knew that he knew that San would berate him, not just him, but THird too… but he couldn’t help it, the lingering fear that San would be no more…
“He is ok, P’Wee… He is really ok…”
Wee nodded, swallowing the panic that threatened to close his throat and overflow him…
“He really is… isn’t he?”
Ju nodded…
“I asked Tao, He said he is really ok, that it’s really over, it has been days now… It’s really over…”
Wee nodded…
“I will sit with him… I won’t leave him, just take a shower and I will be here… ok?”
Wee nodded, hesitantly…
“I promise you I won’t leave him… He will be right there when you come back…”
Wee moved away from San, Ju took his place, fixing the covers for San the second she sat next to her great-grandpa on the bed.
Wee lost track of time as he stood under the running hot water, He tried to talk himself out of the anxious headspace he was in, tried to imagine what his grandmother would say if she saw him in that state…
“Don’t worry, all is well that ends well…” She would tell him…
By the time he managed to get out, dress, and go back to the room, He was surprised to see San awake again, sitting supported by pillows on the bed, whispering softly with Ju, before his eyes landed on Wee, and he shushed Ju with a move of his hand.
“Wee…”
The mere word was just a balm to his soul…
His lover was safe… ok, and with him…
—
San insisted on having breakfast with the family… because he was done being bedridden and there was the need to see Tao, and go to the hospital to get checked by Third, and even more things to prepare for the goddess celebration…
“But you still need rest…”
“I have rested enough, Wee… I am fine, I promise you…”
San leaned into him, pulled him closer, dropped a kiss on his forehead…
He knew Wee was still worried about him, knew that not only him but the other as well, But he felt fine… he was finally fine…
and there were things to be done…
—
“You are a healthy thirty-year-old man, San!”
Third announced it with a smirk toward San, because for once he was glad that this didn’t end with worse misery.
He ran all kinds of tests on San and decided that while he had him under his care, he would give Wee all sorts of reasons to snap out of the anxiety that he had seen on his face every day since the goddess’s birthday ceremony, and what happened during that.
“Are you sure, P’Third?” Wee asked.
“I am sure, He is healthy and well, perfect Health let me tell you, you will live a long and healthy life, San… If I were you I would make the most of it…”
This time when San looked at Wee and said that he intended to, Third felt less pain than he used to…
—
San got into the car, Chong was driving, and Wee noticed that he seemed to know something Wee didn’t…
“Where are we going?”
“We need to express our gratitude to someone… before heading somewhere else…”
Wee settled next to San, and San didn’t waste a chance to reach out to grab his hand…
“Where else do we need to go, P’San?”
“I will tell you later, Just bear with me today…”
“Are you ok? Aren’t you tired?”
“You Heard the Doc, I am fine…”
Wee hummed, watching the scenery change as Chong drove them through one area after another before he stopped the car in front of humble blood of houses that looked even older than the building where Wee used to live…
“Why are we here?”
“You will see, Just… don’t be upset…”
Wee frowned before he was led by San into an apartment or was it a shop…
Then it clicked for Wee when he saw it was a tattoo parlor…
“P’San?”
“Bear with me, Wee…”
San reached out and took Wee’s hand in his, more to assure him than anything else…
He asked someone about Wadfar, and was told that she was working, and would be with them once the session was over…
“P’San? Why we are looking for her?”
San sighed, and smiled tenderly at Wee…
“Because I owe her… I have a live time with you because of her, and while I know that she had done more harm than good, she didn’t have to come forward with that shred of the stone… but she did, I am in debt to her…”
Wee wanted to argue back, but the memory of San’s dying body before his own eyes before Wadfar walked in, made itself known in his head and he shuddered…
“Who is asking about me?” Wadfar came out of practically nowhere, when she realized who was asking for her, she looked between San and Wee, half in hope and half in fear…
“Ms. Wadfar… I would like to thank you, for what you have done, please consider that a small debt of gratitude from me…”
San reached with an envelope to Wadfar, and when she moved to take it, San pulled it back.
“Ms. Wadfar, I don’t want to see you again, If you come forward with any further claims or any annoyance to me or my husband… you won’t like that I will do, I promise you that…”
Wadfar’s half-hope turned into fear, Wee would have feared for his life had he been on the receiving end of the look that was on San’s face as well…
“Had it been anyone else, I would have punished you… So I think you understand that I will stop at nothing the next time you decide you want more…”
She nodded, didn’t utter a word…
San threw the envelope to her face, and she rushed to catch it, as San turned his back on her, pulled Wee, and walked out of the parlor…
Wee heard her scream her thanks, promises, and whatnot as San practically pushed him into the car.
“What did you give her?”
“Enough… I give her Enough to stay away… Chong! Get us out of her please!”
Chong nodded in the mirror, his face had a look that Wee could only describe as coy…
—
The next destination was the temple, not Tao’s temple, but another one… for Wee’s grandma…
“I… I took the liberty as your husband to arrange a prayer for your grandma… You didn’t get to mourn her properly because of me… and I wasn’t there for you…”
Wee didn’t know what to do, Laugh and smile at San and cry at the reminder of how lonely and worried he had been…
How scared… How terrified…
He didn’t even get to say a thing as San pulled him into his arms, hiding him from the passerby and everything…
“I am sorry… I am so sorry for your loss…”
If Wee cried, no one had to know, because San was hiding him from the whole world…
—
“What do you mean you owe me to find my soul mate?”
Third practically screamed at Tao as Tao sat calmly drinking his tea…
“I kinda owe you in exchange for all the help you gave San and Me, He would have died in pain if you hadn’t helped him, even hiding him from Wee despite you being against it…”
Third looked at him incredulously…
“I don’t need you to find my soul mate…”
In part, it was because he believed that it was Wee, and he lost him, and in another part because the whole thing with finding someone else was just… daunting to say the least…
“I didn’t say anything about finding your soulmate, I said I will tell you if you will… how to say it, see them soon?”
Third hesitated…
“I did help San find Wee, If you don’t want me to do that, then it’s ok, I can tell you if you are going to meet them soon or not, that’s all…”
“didn’t you also confuse Wadfar and Wee for both being San’s partner?”
He hadn’t meant it as a back jap, He just… wasn’t sure he wanted to know…
“Well, If I came to your clinic and described an illness down to a letter wouldn’t you be inclined to believe me and diagnose me with it, despite not truly having any illness at all… She came and told me the exact same thing I had figured out on my own about Wee… so… I believed her… I am not a detective, nor was I looking for her…”
Third Sighed…
“How do you expect that would benefit me?”
“You would know when you develop a feeling for someone else that it’s true love not just your imagination?”
“Would it matter?”
“Don’t you want to be happy? Of course, it would matter…”
Third couldn’t believe he would love someone again as much he had loved Wee, but If Tao was sure… then why not…
—
When San opened his eyes, He was alone in bed…
He reached out and touched Wee’s side, It was pretty cold, Wee had been away for a bit now…
He sat up and looked around, half expecting Wee to be in the bathroom or getting a drink of water, but when he didn’t see him around he got out of bed, took a look at the clock on his bedside table before badding softly across the hallway and down the stairs…
Wee hadn’t exactly been alright through the past few days, He was mourning, and the fear of losing San was still fresh in his head, causing him to wake up from nightmares more times than San could count on one hand.
San breathed a sigh of relief when he sounded him leaning on the railing of the large balcony, the chilly air of the night made his skin erupt in goosebumps…
He padded softly to Wee, wrapped his arms around his waist from behind, and didn’t miss that Wee sagged in relief at that…
“Why are you awake, Love?”
Wee didn’t say anything, just covered San’s hand with his, fingers reaching to touch the wedding band on San’s finger…
“I am so lucky to have you, P’San…”
the raw emotion in Wee’s voice and his statement made San swallow hard before dropping a kiss on his cheek and turning Wee in his arms.
“I am the luckiest then… I get to love you…”
Wee chuckled softly, hand not letting go of San’s left hand, fingers rubbing the band like he was reminding himself that San was real, there and his…
“My Lovely husband…” San said softly, pulled Wee in his arms…
Wee wrapped his own arms around San, tightly…
“Wanna go back to our room? I miss you, you know… I woke up to a cold empty bed…”
Wee’s cheeks colored softly and San almost cooed at him…
“It’s Late P’San… Let’s sleep…”
Wee practically ran to the room, San chuckled…
“It’s late indeed, Wee… probably would even be later by the time I will let you sleep…”
If both of them missed breakfast, It was no one’s business…
—
“Are you sure? It’s going to be… expensive to say the least…”
San turned to Tao, surprised…
“What changed?”
Tao shrugged…
“Everything? You are no longer in debt to the temple of the goddess, You don’t have to sponsor the celebration…”
The idea of the celebration came originally from Tao, in part because he wanted to highlight the honor that was bestowed to his family, that he had successfully accomplished a mission that had been passed down from one tempest to another in his family…
“I will be forever in debt… I have Wee, a brand new life… a family I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world… of course I am in debt…”
Tao nodded curtly, He wasn’t one for showing emotions, and San understood that the only time he had seen Tao lose control was when he thought San was going to die because of him…
“Make the arrangements, and let me know what you need…”
Tao nodded again, hesitating before speaking
“I don’t know if you are interested in knowing this, but… Third is bound to meet his soul mate soon… I… I checked it…”
San raised an eyebrow at the news…
“What? Why?”
“Why What, P’San?”
“Why did you check? Did he ask you to?”
“No… Actually, I had to convince him to…”
San nodded, a soft smile creeping on his face as he stood, taking his leave…
“I have a feeling He already did, Tao…”
Tao didn’t ask, and San didn’t intend to tell him anyway, He would need to figure it out himself…
a Tempest and a Doctor… A Man of Faith and a man of science… that would work…

Chong helped San put the last of their bags into the car that was taking them to the airport…
“That’s should be all, Wee… Take care of our San, and have a load of fun on your honeymoon…” Ju said cheerfully as she stood by the door with Rat to wave San and Wee goodbye…
Because for the first time in San’s life, He was going abroad… not far, just to Korea, to spend a honeymoon with Wee…
Wee nodded towards them, waving as San guided him into the car…
“Ready, Love?”
San asked as his hand reached for Wee’s…
“Ready…” Wee said, the smile bright, splitting his face
Wee was ready… ready for many good days with San… for growing old with San…
and San was ready to have an actual life… with a lover, not a ghost of one…
The end.
