Laura's Crystal Ball

Summary:

Laura and Cassandra decide to perform a magic show for Logan, Wade, and Vanessa.

Notes:

This was just a dumb idea I had that I thought was hilarious. I really like the dynamic of Laura and Cassandra because they have so many similarities. Hope to write more about them at some point soon.

Work Text:

“Come on, Laura. This is going to be amazing!” said Cassandra, dragging Laura behind her. She wrapped a fancy purple cloak around Laura’s shoulders and pulled the hood over her head. Leaning down, she gave Laura a quick kiss on the tip of her nose before pulling away.

Laura rolled her eyes but played along with Cassandra’s plan. She sat down at the table while Cassandra crawled underneath it. The scarlet tablecloth concealed Cassandra from view until she popped out from a hole in the middle. Just her head and neck were visible, with head facing towards Laura.

“Why’s your head so shiny?” asked Laura, squinting as the light reflected off of Cassandra’s skin.

“I polished it for the show,” said Cassandra, laughing. “What do you think?”

“I think that I might need to get my sunglasses,” said Laura.

“Now we go to the other room,” said Cassandra. She moved her arms and levitated the table, herself, the chair, and Laura down the hallway. When they got to the living room, Cassandra set them down in front of the couch. “Call the others in.”

“Logan, Wade, Vanessa, can you guys come in here for a second?” shouted Laura. The three soon entered the room and sat down on the couch.

“Is that —” Logan started asking.

“Shhh!” said Wade, clamping his hand over Logan’s mouth. “Don’t ruin the show.”

Laura gave a nod of gratitude towards Wade before turning back to Cassandra, “Welcome to my mystical show. Today you’ll see something truly unbelievable.” She rubbed her hands on the top of Cassandra’s head, like she was gazing into a crystal ball. It took all of Cassandra’s willpower to not start laughing.

“Now, rise!” shouted Laura. As she said that, Cassandra moved her arms underneath the table, causing items around the room to move into the air.

Wade stood up on the couch, pointing at Laura, “Witch!”

Logan smirked while Vanessa laughed at the stunt. Cassandra slowly brought the items back down, and the three on the couch began to clap.

“Thank you, thank you,” said Laura, dramatically bowing. “I couldn’t have done it without the help of my lovely crystal ball. She smiled at Cassandra, who smiled back. Laura leaned down over the table and kissed Cassandra, who kissed back.

“Wait, that was Cassandra the whole time?” exclaimed Wade. “I did not see that coming!” Logan slapped his hand against his face and then smacked Wade in the back of the head. The others laughed as Wade let off a string of expletives at Logan.
