"Here." Hermes was on Odysseus's other side in an instant. The god was shorter now, closer to Eurylochus's height. Between the two of them they managed to keep Odysseus upright until they reached Circe's gates.

"No 'm not. 'M cold." Odysseus tried to get up, but Eurylochus stopped him. Odysseus stared at him for a moment and then crawled into his lap, laying his head on Eurylochus's shoulder.Eurylochus froze. It was always Polities Odysseus went to when he needed comfort, Polities who held him and wiped away his tears. Eurylochus was the solid one, the pragmatic realist, grim and dark and no good in this sort of situation.

But you can't tell him that now, not when he's hurt and fevered and in such a state.
