Work Text:
After the war, the heroes started looking for the corpses of everyone that didn’t survive. They found some heroes, but what caught everyone’s eyes was twenty corpses of some people that they heard of a lot this year.
Class 1-A was dead.
Every child, because that’s what they were, childs, was found dead. Two of them were found out ‘cuddling’ with each other, after defeating AfO Bakugou Katsuki’s hearth didn’t support the struggle and Midoriya Izuku died of the pain, sorrow and anger. Bakugou Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku died together.
Ochaco Uraraka got killed by a villain that also tried to give her blood to survive. The villain died with a smile on her face as Ochaco drowned in her own blood.
Fumikage Tokoyami and Kyoka Jirou died by the hands of AfO, they could only deduce this because Hawks saw it happening as they couldn’t find the corpses that were turned to ashes by an odd weapon made by AfO.
Asui Tsuyu's body wasn’t found complete, some villains feeded off her body parts as she died by blood loss.
Ashido Mina died by, partially, Mount Lady’ fault. She didn’t see the girl while fighting, ending with Ashido Mina’s body getting crushed and possessed by a villain made of sludge and promptly dying out of asphyxia.
Todoroki Shouto died of hypothermia, the heroes were too busy to help him.
Kaminari Denki fried his brain too much after giving electricity to The U.A. Flying Fortress.
Yaoyorozu Momo died out of malnutrition and giving too much of her body to make things, her body couldn’t handle it.
Hagakure Tooru’s corpse couldn’t be found.
Aoyama’s body was mutilated by a villain that knew he was a traitor to both bands at that point.
Kirishima Ejirou died while protecting Shinsou of Gigantomachia, Shinsou Hitoshi was found alive.
Minoru Mineta's corpse was found without a head, nobody could find the other part of the body.
Kouda Koji’s corpse was found being eaten by bugs.
Shouji Mezo’s corpse was found without arms and a blade on his chest.
Tenya Iida, Rikido Sato, Mashirao Ojiro and Sero Hanta’s corpses were found complete and they died out of quirk overuse, except Mashirao Ojiro, who died by blood loss.
Aizawa Shouta knew this all, after being the one to find at least ten out of the twenty corpses of his students. It has been eight years since the war, society is moving again, AfO and OfA forgotten with their deaths. His hair was getting long, very long, but he couldn’t bring himself to cut it.
“Hair holds memories”, that’s what they say. He doesn’t want to forget his students, he still teaches but he isn’t the same anymore. He’s a little more strict, he doesn’t let any student into his poor, bleeding and cutted pieces that he calls hearth. That class, The Class 1-A, was his only class to have a student dying, and he let twenty of them.
They were his first-ever students that died on his care, they weren’t even third year, they were in a war, one of them had a fucking relic of a quirk that made him the target out of every villain and he couldn’t tell anyone. And they aren’t here.
Shouta stood up from his seat, his silent and very decorated apartment (he remembers decorating it with his husband, the cats happily smelling everything as they painted the walls) made his skin crawl. And he had to go on his patrol anyways. As he was already in his hero costume, he got out of the house and started jumping from roof to roof, hoping to catch a villain to get his brain out of the past.
After some hours of catching muggers and some low-tier villains, he found a villain that seemed to know what he was doing.
After fighting and dodging for some minutes, the villain started talking, already knowing his name. Which was bad.
He didn’t actually listen much of what the villain was saying, just trying to catch the villain up, he was usually an ambushter, not staying for long fights. It wasn’t until his hero name was brought again that he listened to the villain that was dodging too much his capture weapon.
“Tell me, Eraserhead, where have you buried all your children?”
After five minutes, he got the villain on his scarf and promptly knocked him out. Already calling the police while he glared at the villain. His shift was over and for the first time, he was happy about it, seeing as the words of the villain echoed in his mind.
He was the one to bury everyone in Class 1-A, seeing as almost every family was killed before the war or the families like the Bakugous and Midoriyas committed suicide at the sight of their only childs dying on a war they shouldn’t be on.
He decided to bury them close to Nemuri, Hizashi and Oboro’s graves (the little, non-official graves of his cats also sitting close to them) And, he always goes to visit them on Sundays, it’s a private cemetery for Heroes and Heroes in the making. So he doesn’t know how the villain knew he buried Class 1-A, it wasn’t announced for obvious reasons anywhere.
He got into his apartment, the empty room practically yelled at him ‘is this the only you have to go?’.
He’s tired, so tired. He doesn’t have many friends, Tensei and Yagi sometimes visit, Nedzu too, but he wasn’t so close with any of them. He wants to see his kids, his husband and his two friends, he doesn’t want to live a life where he’s drowning at every step.
He’s already a little old, he can’t do too much hero work and his students could always have a new teacher.
There isn’t anything that could go wrong for everyone else.
With this in mind, Shouta starts writing a letter and getting everything he has in his apartment on cages labeled ‘Nedzu’, ‘Tensei’, ‘Yagi’ and ‘Donations’.
After Shouta didn’t go to class for the first time in his career, Nedzu himself went to his apartment with Yagi helping him.
They found a familiar body hanging up from the ceiling and a letter on the chair below it. After Yagi stopped vomiting, Nedzu started reading aloud the letter.
“Dear Nedzu,
You will probably be the one to find my body first as tomorrow I will not assist for the first time in my life to work. I want to let you know that this wasn’t your, Tensei or Yagi’s fault (I got some cages for the three of you by the way), this was a decision that I made.
I couldn’t handle it, my husband died, my cats died out of depression when it happened, my children are long dead, my two friends are dead and I don’t have anybody to greet when I get ‘home’. I can’t do much at both works, I’m getting old and I don’t have too much anyways.
It was a record I got this long, this is probably my breaking point because a villain asked me a question I hate, ‘Eraserhead, where have you buried all your children?’.
Please, I just want to say I love you three and please, bury me along with my childs and my little family.
Never again, Aizawa Shouta, Eraserhead”
Extra:
“Sensei?”
The voice of someone he thought he would never hear again made him fly his eyes open to see the one and only Midoriya Izuku in front of him, a sad smile on his face as he helped Shouta to get up from the ground.
His husband waved at him, the rest of his children playing behind him. Oboro was in the middle of the chaos made by his childs while Nemuri tried to get to him.
“C’mon Sensei! We need a King!” Izuku grabbed his hand as he led him to the chaos.
“SENSEI!” Nineteen voices shouted as they tackled him to the ground with a hug.
If this was heaven, he didn’t want to get out.
