Chapter 2: Kidnapped

Notes:

“You’re aware your fiancée is a total shithead? Well… this is awkward.”

Chapter Text

“That selfish jerk…. ugh! He drives me mad!” Elizabeta complained, flopping onto her bed. “Just once I’d like to give him a piece of my mind…!”

Rolling over, she gazed up at the ceiling. Any girl should be happy to be engaged to a prince. But she couldn’t care less.

“I just have to make it to the wedding…” She sighed, getting under the blankets. “Then maybe I can fake my death or something...”

As she fell asleep, she found herself caught in a terrifying nightmare. Forced into a life of high heels, tight corsets, and tiny little finger sandwiches. That wasn’t the life she wanted. She wanted action, thrills, and adventure.

Perhaps she wished a little too hard.

Because suddenly, she was awoken by the shattering of glass.

Elizabeta found herself tied to a chair. She kicked and screamed. And eventually, her mysterious kidnappers removed her blindfold.

“KESESE! Hello little girl!” A handsome man laughed. He was just inches from her face, definitely too close. He had silver hair and deep red eyes. But most notably, he had an arrogant smirk on his face. “Mein gott! I didn’t expect the princess to be so hot- AGH!”

Elizabeta suddenly kicked him right in the balls.

“MY CROTCH!” He screamed, collapsing to his knees. “YEOWCH! She totally just kicked me in mein balls!”

Squirming in the chair, Elizabeta tried to shake free from the restraints. “What’s going on!? Where am I!?” She demanded. “You’ve kidnapped the princess of Eastern country, you know! This is a crime!”

Then suddenly, two other men emerged from the shadows. They stood on either side of the guy who had been kicked in the crotch (who was still on the ground screaming, by the way).

“Si, we know who you are,” The brunette man replied. “Princess Elizabeta. It’s an honor!” He bowed, with a hand over his chest.

“Antonio, don’t bow to her! She’s our prisoner!!” The other man shouted. Then he put his hand on his stubbled chin, and eyed the princess carefully. “But you are right. She is rather beautiful,” He smirked. “Perhaps we don’t have to kill her. At least, not yet~”

Tensing up, Elizabeta shuddered at the words she was hearing. “This is an act of tyranny…” She growled. “Prince Roderich won’t stand for it! He’ll save me!”

Then the man with the silver hair looked back up. Grinning, he rose to his feet. “HA! That’s a rich idea! The elegant and prissy Prince Roderich will save you? Do you think he’s gonna ride in on a white horse and rescue you, princess? DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!” He yelled. “Actually. I will laugh. KESESESESE~!”

He was so loud. So arrogant. So vulgar.

He was just like Elizabeta.

“Shut your mouth, dumbass!” She shot back. “I don’t know who you are, but if it’s money you want, you won’t be getting it!”

“What!? How dare you tell me to shut up! You’re my prisoner!!” The man snapped.

“Um… Gil? Do you really think we should be making such a fuss in the middle of the night, amigo?” The brunette asked.

Sighing, the leader took a deep breath. Then he approached Elizabeta, with his boots clicking on the floor. With every step he took, she felt her heart racing. But she wouldn’t let her fear show on her face. Suddenly, he kicked a leg up on the wall behind her, and tipped her chair backwards. Leaning in, he gazed into her face.

“It’s nice to meet you, little princess. My name is Gilbert Beilschmidt. AND I AM AWESOME!!!!”

Elizabeta paused. “Huh??”

“These are my subordinates, Antonio and Francis,” Gilbert continued.

“Hola!” Antonio waved.

“Bonjour, mademoiselle! Sorry we were so rough carrying you here,” Francis replied. “And you certainly didn’t make it easy for us. You even bit me at one point- so mean!” He shook out his wrist, which had a red bite mark on it.

“But now you’re our prisoner and you must do as we say!” Gilbert declared, slamming her chair back down. “You see princess, your precious bitch baby prince Roderich is kind of a DICK! His people are starving, sick, and dying. But he’s too fancy pancy to help them…”

Listening to the monologue, Elizabeta couldn't help but sigh. “I know. That’s why my kingdom was at war with him…” She agreed. “I tried to stop him. But he’s too powerful…”

Gilbert suddenly froze. “Uh. Shit.”

“What?” The princess asked.

“I uh, I didn’t expect you to agree with me…” Gilbert replied. “You’re aware your fiancée is a total shithead? Well… this is awkward.”

“Yeah! Don’t get me started!” Elizabeta shouted. “Roderich is constantly telling me where to go and how to behave! It’s maddening!” She sobbed. “I never wanted to be engaged to him… but, it’s the only way I can stop the war. And all this suffering. So…” She teared up. “I thought I could do my part and bring peace to the kingdoms…”

The three men stared at her.

“Uh boss?” Antonio whispered. “What do we do now? You just made a girl cry, man.”

“DID NOT!” Gilbert shouted.

“Yes you did! Look what you did, you potato eater!!” Francis accused.

As he watched her cry, Gilbert fell silent. This wasn’t how the evening was supposed to go. He was the leader of the rebellion, a secret group of people who were fighting against Roderich’s rule. They wanted to end the war. Kick him off the throne. And restore peace to both kingdoms.

As the leader, it was Gilbert’s idea to use the princess as a hostage. Maybe if they used her as bait, the prince would have no choice but to comply with their demands. But as he listened to her cry, he suddenly realized something.

“You don’t want to go back to that castle, do you?”

Sniffling, Elizabeta looked up at him. Her chestnut hair was disheveled and she looked like a mess. But that powerful look in her emerald eyes was unwavering.

“I always hated being a princess…” She declared. “If I have to go back to balancing books on my head and powdering my nose with makeup, I think I will kill myself.”

“Noooooo don’t kill yourself, you are so sexy!!” Francis yelled.

Antonio leaned toward Gilbert to whisper to him. “Boss, we can’t let her do that. She is the key to ending the war.”

Gilbert was frozen. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. “Alright,” He decided. “NEW PLAN! NEW AWESOME PLAN CREATED BY ZE AWESOME ME!!”

“What?” She asked.

Kneeling down in front of her chair, Gilbert spoke to her with enthusiasm in his tone. It was different than how he was treating her before. He was no longer shouting and talking down to her.

Now he was looking up at her. With hope and excitement in his eyes.

“Prinzessin Elizabeta. Listen closely…”
