Summary:

Chapter Text

I open my lunch box and grab my fork, pushing my food around and picking at it.  Everyone  else has already gotten their food out so I should probably eat.  Suddenly, I get pulled out of my thoughts by a hand on my shoulder. I flinch back slightly, turning to  see who touched me.

“Did I scare you, Reggie?” Sirius asks, James and  Remus behind them.

“Do you think?” I snap back, handing my charger over.

“Calm down, I’m sorry.”She takes my charger, putting it in her bag. It’s shaped like a star, matching the earrings and hair clips she has on.

James tugs Remus aside as they sit down on the table section near ours. Something in me wants James to sit next to me. I don’t know why but I can’t help but want him closer. It’s not something that i should desire. It’s as if I'm a little girl who has a crush.

“Reg, are you even listening to me?” Oh, right. Sirius.

“...yes.”  I respond. I must’ve sounded unsure because I could tell she wasn’t buying it.

“So what was I talking about?” Shit. I stay silent, not having a response, given the fact that the only thing on my mind was James. “Exactly.” Sirius triumphs, walking over to sit with James and Remus. I notice peter sitting at the table as well. I roll my eyes and back to face Pandora.

The rest of lunch went surprisingly quick. About ten minutes or so before the bell rings, I feel someone tap my shoulder, sitting in the empty seat next to me. I push one of the ear pads past my ear closest to the mystery person, not bothering to look over to them immediately.

“Reg, mum made dumplings yesterday and told me to bring you extra.” Oh. It's James. My cheeks feel warm again. I look up at him.

“Uhmm… thanks I guess.” I mumble, putting my phone down and taking the small dish He offered to me. He looks down at my lunchbox.

“Why haven't you eaten?” He asks me.

“I did eat. I'm just not that hungry so I only ate half.” I try to make up an excuse.

“Reg, I doubt that you can go every day of every week without eating breakfast, eating half of your lunch, and dinner.” James tries to reason with me.

Just to please him I take one of the dumplings he brought for me. I love his mom's cooking, truly, and she knows that so she loves making James bring me extra food. The flavours are always the best. I don't know why I just can't eat like normal. No matter how much I like something, I can't help but avoid it as much as possible. As if all foods are the plague.

“Yeah, yeah.” I mumble as I finish chewing. “I guarantee that I am fine.

“He's right, Reg. You really should start eating more. You'll wither away eventually.” Pandora says as she finishes up her lunch.

I roll my eyes. “You both act as if I'm starving myself or something.”

Suddenly I see Sirius standing behind James, resting her arms around his shoulders. For some reason, I can't help but feel jealous. It’s stupid. Why am  I jealous of my sibling and their bestfriend being exactly that? I wish these stupid feelings for him would just go  away.

“Regulusss”  Sirius’ voice once again pulls me  out of my thoughts.

I look up at her. “What?” I say, not really wanting to talk anymore.

“Be nice. I’m older than you, you should be nicer.” I suppose my tone of voice wasn’t good enough for my dearest Sirius.

“Oh my dearest apologies.” I start, my tone sarcastic. “How may I help you, my most amazing and gorgeous sister.

James laughs. I love his laugh. What. The. Fuck. What is wrong with me.

“Regulus. What’s wrong? Are you alright?” James asks as if he was reading my mind but twisting the tone. “You’ve been zoning out a  lot,  is something wrong?”

“Were you talking?” I ask, not wanting to have missed anything he said.

“No, but Sirius was. You like zoned out the whole time she was talking. And you zoned out earlier when they first came over here.” He explains. “Are you alright?”

I simply nod, not bothering to explain. I slip my headphones on fully, and check the time on my phone as my music plays in the background. I clean up my food, keeping the uneaten extras in the lunchbox and putting the dumplings James gave me in the empty compartment there is. I suppose that my lack of interest in communication led to both Sirius and James going to clean their table as well.

As I finish putting my stuff away I look around in boredom. Evan and Barty are arguing once more. It’s not their arguments are  about anything important considering the fact that they have a healthy relationship, but they are entertaining. Marlene and Dorcas are simply talking with Panda. Fairly normal for those three to get along. Sitting at the table next to us is of course The Marauders as they’re known as around the school. Remus is reading, again. I’ll have to text him and ask him to tell me about the new book he is reading. Sirius is talking to James and Peter about  who knows what. I puzzles me how Sirius can date Remus and not dare to pick up a book if not for scholastic reasons. My sister is definitely weird, but, she has a boyfriend and I don’t so, what do I know? Maybe opposites do attract. I hope opposites attract.

Notes:

She/They Pronouns for Sirius!! Also, I know that Lily was absent this whole chapter. I might rewrite it so that she is, but for now, pretend she was just absent or sick(I might use that idea actually.....)

Anyway, I love Lily!! I also might write a Jily fanfic but idk.....
