Toya leaned up against the tree, holding the small wound on his leg. Akito had got him again, like always.
He looked up at the other knight, watching him turn around to walk away. Akito was walking in the direction of the setting sun, which illuminated them both very well. Toya’s eyes reflected it the best.
“You’re going to leave me here?” Toya asked, his voice a little louder to get Akito’s attention. He saw the ginger pause, said person’s head moving towards his direction.
“Yeah. Is that an issue? It doesn’t seem like it.” Akito spoke with mild annoyance. He didn’t want to have to talk to him more than he needed to.
“You could at least help me patch this up, if you’re not going to do anything else.”
“No, I’m good. I don’t have anything else to do with you.” Toya didn’t believe that. The two of them were literally enemies, Akito could do practically anything and not get in trouble.
“Akito, why don’t you ever just kill me? You’ve had so many chances before, including now, but you never do anything.” Toya questioned. He was literally at the mercy of Akito.
“You’re so much stronger than me too—“
“Toya, it’s because I don’t want to kill you.” Akito said, facing his whole body to look at the taller man who is technically shorter right now due to being on the ground.
“Why not?” Toya asked. “You hurt me a lot with your sword, but you draw the line at killing me? That doesn’t make sense, Akito.”
Akito huffed. He does hurt Toya, every time they meet they tend to hurt each other.
“It’s because… I love you. I can’t kill you.” Akito explained, a mixture of anger and care on his face as he looked at Toya.
“You are really fuckin’ with me… All the time I just want to come back here and care for you, or I want to just see you again and get to know you more. It keeps me up and it’s ruining my performance during training.” Akito’s feelings were just spilling out. He didn’t want to share so much, but he couldn’t stop the flow of words coming out of his mouth.
Toya couldn’t really believe it. He hadn’t really thought about why he always wanted to know how Akito looked like while smiling, or the thoughts of just talking to him, but now it made sense. Even though they never had any “good” moments together, those small seconds built up and gave them both feelings.
“Dammit— I said too much…” Akito muttered. “Ignore that, please. I…”
“No, Akito. I’m not going to ignore that. You basically told me that you’re in love with me.” Toya said. He put his hands against the tree and slowly stood up, leaning his weight on his right leg, since it was the unaffected one.
“But—“
“Akito, I love you too. I don’t know how we’re going to deal with this, but now we know how we feel.” Toya didn’t care about interrupting him, since everything needed to be said.
“Does this have to happen now?” Akito asked, glancing back towards the sun for just a moment, wanting to flee from this.
“Yes. We need to at least talk about this.” Toya spoke softly, understanding that Akito didn’t enjoy this.
“Fine… Do you maybe want to uh… Just not hurt each other anymore? We could just talk instead of fighting.” Akito suggested. This would apply to every scenario that they were against each other in. It’s not strange for one of the kingdoms to attack the other.
“Can you say it completely then? I want to hear you tell me that you love me.”
Akito didn’t even wait a second before he said it.
“I love you, Toya.” Akito completely admitted it.
“I love you too…” Toya smiled faintly at him.
—
“Yeah I remember that day.”
“Mhm… It’s annoying now though, because you’re always calling me cute and wanting me to smile more.
“Whatever… I still love you, Toya.”
“I love you too, Akito.”
