Work Text:

Golden light adorned the sky that was about to get dark. At the gate of Konoha village, the Uzumaki family was there, about to send off their only son.

"Remember Boruto, this is your home too. You have to promise mother to come back soon." Said the mother, Hyugaa Hinata with a sad smile on her face. The woman still looks very young.

Beside her, there was her husband who never left her side. "Don't worry your mother, you have to come back" he said and swung his fist at his son's shoulder.

The man, Boruto Uzumaki smiled thinly hearing it. Her could see it from a distance without daring to approach. Who is her to him?

"Take care of mother and Himawari for me, Father."
The seventh hokage nodded, leaving a stroke on the top of his son's head.

His youngest sister, remained silent without saying a word. so his gaze turned to his sister.

"What's wrong, Himawari?"
Himawari raised her gaze towards her brother, "You asked what's wrong?, without knowing that it was his fault that you left. Can't you just stay here, bro...ther?."

"I understand how you feel, but you can't just blame your brother, Hima-chan."

Beside him, a girl wearing red-rimmed glasses who has never left his side since the war ended. even until finally, having to see him off again.

This farewell seems to be only for those closest to him. Sumire, who saw all of this from a distance, was about to step forward and leave. Her intention was to say goodbye to him, her presence had no influence here, she was just a stranger whom he had helped.

So, her stepped back. walking away from the gates of Konoha village. but her steps stopped when a woman's voice interrupted her.

"Wait!"

Sumire turned her head, and found a Hyuga woman approaching her. His mother.

"You are Kakei Sumire, right?"

Sumire seeing her, which reminded him of her younger sister who had been her teacher. she smiled and bowed to her head as a sign of respect "Yes, Hinata-sama. Is there anything I can help you with?"

The Hyuga woman smiled softly, "No need to be so formal Sumire-chan. You can just call me auntie. If I may ask, what are you doing here?"

Sumire was silent, not knowing what to answer. Her gaze shifted to the scene showing him and her friend hugging.

"Uhm, I, I'm going to the science office. Yeah, that's it."

Hinata followed her gaze, "Is that so?"

Sumire quickly nodded to escape the sudden awkwardness. ""I'm sorry, Aunt Hinata, but I have to go back soon."

"Don't you want to say goodbye to him?" Those words immediately stopped her from leaving.

Her wanted, really wanted to say goodbye to him. but her presence seemed to have no effect on him. So, she decided to abandon her intention.

"Go, you have to tell him that."

her fell silent, without intending to answer.

"I can see it in your eyes. You have to tell him yourself. You know, he's just like his father."

Hearing her words, her gained courage. He thought, there was no harm in saying goodbye. Sumire just wanted him to remember her.
