   After changing his name and ending his marriage, photographer Collin Crow heads to New York in search of emancipation and a completely new life with nothing but his Polaroid camera and Duke, his dog.

   Thanks to Duke, Collin ends up meeting Sam Swan, a rising model, and his little dog, Ava. Collin also encounters the tyrannical Henry Haze, Sam's agent, who will do everything in his power to make the photographer's life difficult.
