Notes:

I like immediately broke that "post every day" but who cares! It is now whenever I finish a chapter-
I will work on it every day though so hopefully time in between updates won't be all too long. -Lyfrassir

Chapter Text

Clutching the strap of his oversized messenger bag, he sped walked to school. Usually, Tigris would walk him, she never liked him walking out alone, but Grandma’am wanted him to walk home today. She said he would be fine, that things have settled down. She wouldn't have it when Tigris tried to argue. So, here he was, walking to school, all alone. His long, thin tail flicked around anxiously, the feathers that were at its tip ruffling and his wings were doing the same and he was trying to get them to stop, but it was hard to control them.

He liked his wings, he really did! He liked the pattern and color of it, though it would’ve been cool if they were a bit bigger… the marginal covers, and alula were dark brown with spots tan all over, the primary and secondary coverts were similar but the tan spots were way bigger and more of an off-white, while his primary and secondaries were a lighter brown with big light tan spots. He took pride in the fact that he took care of his wings by himself (with only a little help from Tigris!), while lots of his peers still had their…

Seeing the Academy in view caused him to automatically straighten up. Taking the moment to smooth his feathers, he walked into school. Immediately, the Ring twins, Apollo and Diana bounded towards him, big grins on their faces. The two had pretty small wings, but he personally really liked Didi’s. The two had very similar undersides, white with black speckles (though Apollo’s have a more yellowish white), but their oversides was different. Diana’s marginal coverts, secondary coverts, and secondaries is a nice blue with the tips of the secondaries having a splash of white, and the alula, primary coverts, and primaries is black, with the tips of the primaries also having a spot of white. It was more colorful than Apollo’s. His was similar but instead of the nice blue Diana had, it was an orangish color, which frankly Coriolanus didn’t like.

Before he could get a word out, the two started talking. They seemed excited.

“Hi Coryo!” chirps Diana, and Apollo soon follows with, “ Did ya here?”

He falters at that. Did he hear what? What happened? Was it to do with someone else? One of their teachers? A new rule? News? He slowly shook his head, practically forcing his tail to stay still, “No… have I heard of what? What happened?” A slight nervousness forced its way into his words. Apollo waved his hand to his concerns and Diana giggled softly, “No no! There’s a new student”

“Yea, he’s apparently joining us today”

“And he’s from the Districts”

“District two!’

He stared at the twins. A new student? From the districts? Why would the school allow that! Isn’t that a…safety hazard or something? He glanced around them. He didn’t see anyone else with them, which made sense. The others were probably on the playground. He turned his attention back to the two. “Oh. Is he here now? Do you know who he is?”

The two shrug at the same time

“He’s here!”

“Saw him, he tried to talk to Arachne”

Ouch. He nodded and the two went off to wherever they were originally going to, probably to hide from the teachers again. He walked to the classroom silently, muling over this new kid who’s apparently from the district. Though, it exited his mind as he entered the classroom - sometimes the teachers put out crackers before school if there’s enough. There are none on any desk. Frowning, he walked to his desk, pulling the messenger bag off and setting it down as gracefully as a five year old can. After a few minutes of contemplating whether he does want to go outside for…however long it took for class to get started. What got him out of the classroom was looking out the window and seeing, for once, the swingset was completely empty, most of the others on the main part of the playground. Perking up, he forced himself not to run over to the swingset, and instead go at a leisurely pace. Successfully avoiding conversation, he hopped onto the swingset with a slight, victorious, smile, his tail swishing back and forth exposing his excitement.
After not even ten minutes…probably, he got interrupted by the sound of the swing next to his being climbed onto. A silent huff of annoyance escaped him and he glanced sideways, expecting Clemensia. He didn’t mind her of course, in fact she was one of the few he would actually like to consider a friend, but he didn’t feel up to talking, but it was not Clemensia. No, it wasn’t anyone he recognized.
