“To the league!”
It had been about eight years since Tomura met his ‘untimely’ demise. In honor of their fallen friends, the living members of the league minus Compress (who apparently had such a long criminal record, he still wasn’t out of jail) got together once a year to remember them.
“And a special reference to Muscular, who last week got hanged. May he have fun in hell.” Shuichi added as he, Himiko, Dolf and Kurogiri put their glasses together. They were currently at Kurogiri’s new bar, where in the back room hung pictures of Tomura, Jin, Kenji, even a shared one of Muscular and Moonfish. No for Dabi though. They briefly considered adding him, but a mixture of him being responsible for Twice’s death, and his younger sister apparently having a breakdown a bit after his execution and destroying all his photos, stopped them.
“So kids, how have you three been?” Kurogiri asked, causing the trio to sigh. He really hoped they were faring better than he. As his only contact right now are the rare visits from Eraserhead and Midnight, and the rarer customer.
“Come on, Kuro. We’re not children anymore. I’m 25, Shui is 28 and Dolfy…is still a baby.”
“I’m 22, Himiko!” Dolf roared, only for his female friend to shrug him off. “Anyhow, I’m great. I finally found a job at a pest control company. I even got a license to use my quirk.”
“Congrats, young one. As a reward, I’ll buy you your first beer.” Shuichi said, joining the Dolf teasing as he handed Kurogiri some cash. “As for me, I got a job working on the new Hero Smash game. It’s not…my favorite kind of game. But I got to work with Deku, having him inform me about how every hero fights.” The lizard said before smiling. “The game needed an end boss, so we used Tomura. When you beat the game, he becomes playable.”
“What a way to honor him.” Kurogiri sighed fondly before turning to Himiko. “What about you, young lady?” He asked as Himiko began smirking, not unlike how she used to when she still had her quirk.
“I got to sleep with the number one and six heroes.” She said before slamming something onto the table.
“That’s…a pregnancy test.” Shuichi said dryly. “A positive one as well.”
“Beware world, there are no two Himiko’s.” Dolf added. “Got names yet?”
“Well I promised my darling boyfriend that we would call them Nana if she’s a girl…and Jin if he’s a boy.” Himiko said with a soft smile before smirking. “Ochako was so jealous that I was the first to get pregnant.”
“That’s wonderful, Toga.” Kurogiri sighed. But before he could continue, the ex villains heard screaming outside.
“Fuck the heroes!” Despite all the stuff Deku and his little friends had done, there was still some hero hate. But while most just weren’t fond of heroes, very few took it a step further. “Eight years ago, the Rabbit heroine Mirko lost her limbs fighting against Tomura Shigaraki! The heroes saved her life, but let Tomura die! This is quirk discrimination!” A woman in her mid twenties screamed as people around her just walked past her. This just made her just angrier. “See! Nothing changed! None of you would help a villain but rather ignore them. When that Scervino whore went on a quirk rampage, the heroes saved her, but Tomura and Toya had to die!”
“So….How much do you want to be bet she cares nothing for our cause, but just wanted to fuck Dabi?” Dolf asked dryly.
“Toya was right! Endeavor’s atonement is meaningless because he abused him! How could he hurt such a good boy, who only wanted to protect his family?!”
“I thought Dabi hated his entire family.” Shuichi confessed.
“Izu is friends with that Todoroki guy. Apparently Dabi was in fact, not a good boy.” Himiko added with a smirk before the three turned back to the ‘villain’ fan outside.
“Do none of you think it’s weird that in the grand war, only the so-called villains died?!”
“To be frank, we did kind of turn on each other near the end. Like Tomura killed No-face and himself. No hero permanently caught a body…that wasn’t a Nomu.” Dolf pointed out as Kurogiri finally had enough, and went outside.
“Miss, I would appreciate it if you stop this slander.” He said coldly as now finally, the villain lover got attention from bystanders. “While it will forever be unfortunate that Tomura had to perish, the hero Deku did everything in his power to save him. With others like Uravity, Phantom thief, Tentacole and Shoto doing the same for Tomura’s friends. If someone is to blame for his fate, it’s none other than All For One. Now get away from my business or I’ll be forced to inform the heroes.”
“W-Who are you?!” The fan screamed, just as Himiko joined Kurogiri.
“You don’t know him? Then you’re clearly not really interested in us villains. Because he’s none other than the league's former second in command Kurogiri.” Himiko pointed out. “Looks like you only care about Tomura and Dabi, not what we actually fought for.”
“O-Of course I do!” Fan screamed. “You probably don’t care! Because nothing has changed. We’ll have a new Toya or Tomura every week!”
“Really? Because it has been eight years and no such villains have shown up. Because unlike you, the rest of the world never forgot us. The heroes didn’t forget us.” Kurogiri proclaimed before taking a shaky breath. “Most of the world will never forget Tomura for what he could do, but Deku never forgot him for the child that needed a hand. And he taught this to the rest.”
“He didn’t deserve to die.”
“….He didn’t. But when he died, he looked at peace. Because he got saved. So while you continue to hate the world because someone isn’t here anymore, I’ll continue to love a world where future Tomura’s have a shoulder to cry on.”
With those words, Kurogiri and Himiko rejoined Shuichi and Dolf inside.
“Hey Kurogiri, are you doing alright?”
“…I miss Tomura, I’ll miss him forever.” Kurogiri sighed. “But I wasn’t lying when I said that I’m glad Deku did reach out.”
“….Hey Kurogiri,” the trio of Himiko, Shuichi and Dolf began in unison. “Want us to visit a bit more?”
“….Yes, that would be nice.” Kurogiri admitted with a smile.
Kurogiri’s league started with him and Tomura.
It then grew from two, to eleven, to nine again.
Kurogiri briefly leaving and Magne’s death turned it into seven.
When he returned, the league was now segmented and down to six.
By the end of the fight, there were four.
But while he would miss Tomura until the second he died, Kurogiri was happy with the friends his son left behind.
