Chapter Text
Brooke: Morning has arrived! And our fairytale friends are now anticipating what is to come of them. The rebellion are also anticipating the awaiting mafia that might march to their doorstep. ’
But the good news is that the school has already put up the magic barrier. It would give them enough time to figure something out.
Brooke: Now, let’s see what Blondie is doing.
Walking to Headmaster Grimm’s office, Blondie carried her mirror pad and uncertainty with her. An interview with great and shocking truth was gonna be revealed and for the first time, she was nervous about posting something for her mirror blog.
As the blonde strolled to the office, she couldn’t help but listen in on her fellow students talking amongst themselves. As a person looking for content, gossip amongst peers was a great way to start. And obviously, they were all talking about the giant sphere magic barrier outside.
“What do you think the barrier is for? Is there a threat coming?”
“Of course a threat! What else?!”
“What do you think this is about?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t like it. Not one bit.”
Everyone was worried. The teachers were confused and unnerved at the sudden protective shield outside and the students worried and anxious at whatever monster or psycho out on the other side.
Kitty: I mean, they’re kind of right on both things.
Shush, Kitty!
Not to mention people outside who took great notice of the school. Some fairytale parents were demanding to know what was going on inside. She heard that Faybelle’s mom, the Dark Fairy, demanded to speak to the headmaster and wanted to pull her daughter out of school. The people of Ever After crowded the news, asking about the sudden barrier. And don’t get her started on the demands of the royal families.
It was all going into chaos. Probably more so once Blondie starts the interview.
“Umm, Blondie?”
Behind her, were Dexter and Humphrey carrying the set equipment for the show. Both of them had uneasy expressions as they also heard the mumbling classmates.
“What is it?” Blondie asked, glancing at them.
Dexter was the one to pop up the concern for both him and his friend, “Does the interview have to do with… whatever is going on with the barrier? I mean, it’s only used for great emergencies.”
Humphrey elaborated what Dexter said, “And it can’t be a coincidence that we are doing an interview at the headmaster’s office when this had already happened. And you kinda didn’t really explain why we are doing this.”
Right. She forgot to explain to them. That was kind of on her if they are confused.
As Blondie was about to answer them, they already found themselves way in front of the office of Ever After High’s headmaster. Shaking her nerves off, Blondie grabbed the knob and pushed.
There, they widened their eyes. There was Briar and the Headmaster, but also with someone else she didn’t recognize. A blonde short haired girl that looked to be a few years older than her with an array of tattoos on her arm.
And the strangest thing was, the person reminded her of Apple. It was like looking at a spitting image if you make her hair longer and take out the pink hair dye.
She glanced at her set crew, who had different reactions. Humphrey seems to raise a brow at the newcomer, also not knowing who she was. While Dexter, for some reason, looked at flabbergasted shock as he eyed at the girl as if he knew who she was.
“Great, you're all here!” Briar exclaimed.
Blondie looked at her friend, and then glanced at the, for some unknown reason, sad Headmaster Grimm and strange girl.
“Apple?” Humphrey asked. Who could blame him? She did look like her.
Dexter, however, said something else, “Gale?!”
The girl widened her eyes and smiled, “Oh my goodness, Dex! Good to see you, kiddo! You’ve gotten bigger than the last time I saw you!”
Dexter just kept staring at her with wide eyes. Blinking as if trying to see if the girl was an illusion or not.
Blondie looked at Dexter. Then at the girl. Then back at him. And then back at the girl.
Before Blondie could say another word, Briar beat her to it, “She’s trustworthy. She’s here to do the interview as well.”
“Okay, can anyone explain what is going on?” Humphrey asked, just as confused as the blonde reporter.
“Oh, right. Introductions.” said Gale, “I’m the leader of the Rebellion against the Darkness who is in control of the mafia approaching Ever After High. My name is Abigale White. Gale for short!”
Blondie’s eyes looked like dinner plates as her jaw hung open and then saying “What?!”
When- how-! Before she could ask all the multiple questions that were frying the reporter's brain.
Humphrey widened his eyes and his mouth went numb from shock as he opened it. He tried to think of ways to answer the questions in his brain that said how.
“We’ll get to that in a minute,” said the apparently older sibling of Apple White! Gale looked at the headmaster, “Ready to do this?”
The almost devastated Grimm, who seemed to have been down all morning, nodded, “I’m ready.”
Blondie shook herself from her rambling of questions in her head. She may not get all her answers, but at least some to make things clear.
And she had a feeling things today are about to escalate really quickly.
Hunter and Ashlyn were sitting close together in the Crownculus classroom alone. When they noticed the barrier being put up, they immediately went to each other's side to take comfort.
Ashlynn looked at her boyfriend, worried shown all over her face, “What do you think this is about?”
Hunter protectively wrapped his arms around his lover, “I don’t know. But I’m sure it will be alright.”
“Are you sure?”
Hunter looked at her with determination and reassurance, “Because I’ll be protecting you no matter what. And I know you’d do the same for me. As long as we have each other, then we’ll be alright. And we have our friends to help as well!”
Ashlynn smiled, and placed a kiss on his cheek, “I sure hope so.”
Kitty: (Feels like hacking up a furball) Hurgh…
Maddie: Don’t mind her. Just continue.
The couple’s loving conversation was soon interrupted as a notification rang on Ashlynn’s mirror phone at the side of the bed. The two looked at each other and Ashlynn picked it up, realizing that it was a live MirrorCast news video.
Both were curious, considering the barrier, they clicked on it.
It seemed like an interview, as Blondie was carrying a microphone and seemed to be interviewing the headmaster and-
Ashlynn’s eyes bulged at the blonde girl, which was not Blondie, with shock and disbelief. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Hunter.
“Babe, are you o-”
“Is that Gale?!”
Hunter was more confused, not knowing who that was, “Who?”
“Gale! Apple’s older sister!”
Hunter didn’t expect that. His eyes went wide as he asked, “What?!”
Ashlynn explained further, eyes glued her gaze onto the screen, “Apple had two older siblings but they left when she was really young. No one knew where they went or why they left. And only some royals only ever knew about them but kept it quiet and it eventually became taboo.”
Hunter nodded in understanding, but there was another question, “So then why is she here, though?”
That, unfortunately, was the exact same question repeating in Ashlynn’s head, unsure as she kept looking at her mirror phone.
[Hello, viewers] said Blondie, [We are here today to answer questions about the sudden magic barrier outside around the school. We have Headmaster Grimm here along with a… surprising special guest, as you can see.]
Gale smiled nervously, waving to the audience.
Ashlynn couldn’t help but notice the comment section spilling out different reactions to this. There were questions of all kinds asking either who the girl was from non royals while some from most of the nobility were blowing up with questions detailing Abigale White in general, knowing who she was.
The conversations and comments escalated very quickly in regards to Gale in general. And summing it all up, they were all surprised, varying many emotions of detest and curiosity.
In the back of Ashlynn’s earliest memories of the missing White, she recalled Gale to be the problematic child since she refused to take part in the fairytale destiny of Snow White, saying it was boring and that she didn’t want to be a princess. But still, even though she could leave the role to her younger sister, she still is titled a princess at this age until further notice considering she was still a kid.
This caused many rumors regarding Gale, not so pleasant ones to be exact. Like Apple, Gale had been heard through gossip about her blonde hair amongst the royals given her family story. But what made her immensely different from Apple was her personality and actions.
Gale was and, given her appearance on the screen, still is a tomboy. She would try to make trouble outside for royals and servants with the multiple antics she could do. Even at a young age of 8, she managed to get a rampaging dragon to exhaustion with raw and unheard of strength and creativity. She was either admired or loathed.
Now, although reckless, she had a kind heart. Gale always hung out with kids of all ages and had all kinds of fun, including Ashlynn. It was because she wanted to make a lot of friends and not because to make connections with the royals for the future of the kingdom. The White wanted to make friends of all kinds, whether nobility or commoner.
She would have been a great knight, thinking back to Gale’s speech of being one… unless, of course, it could have happened if there were no prejudices of royals saying that maidens should only be damsels and not heroes.
Ashlynn remembered a great amount of a good person Gale was, but was then changed when the girl and her brother left all those years ago on Apple’s birthday.
That got her wondering, ‘is Axel with her?’
It was the headmaster that spoke first, [I have an announcement to make. In regards to everything]
Ashlynn and Hunter couldn’t help but notice the serious and gloomy face of the Grimm. As if he were discussing a very dark and tragic past.
Darling and Ginger were sitting side by side next to the lockers as they watched on their mirror phones at the interview.
Ginger kept looking at the screen with wide eyes as she read the multiple comments regarding who the girl was. Which explained that it was Apple’s apparently missing older sister ! The obvious question in her mind was how and where had she been all this time.
She had to admit, she really did look like Apple’s sister. The only difference was her style. It was very rebellious and stylish. It was very clear to the baker that Gale was no maiden at all.
Ginger also was pretty wary. The comments either explained that she was dangerous for her recklessness or was kind hearted. It was kinda difficult to know who or who was right. It was a really big debate.
Darling had other thoughts, as she eyes the girl on the interview.
As a royal, she knew who Gale was. Of course, because Gale White was the one to inspire Darling herself to actually be a knight in the first place.
In the past, it always didn’t sit right to her. How come it was always the men of fairytales to be the one to rescue maidens from towers? Why couldn’t the maidens themselves figure out a way to escape? Why couldn’t women do it?
Eventually, she grew to realize that she wanted to save fair and gorgeous maidens from towers. Darling wanted, very much, to be a great and strong knight.
But when she told this to her parents, the Charmings just explained to her, really gently with frowns, that there was just no way for her to achieve that. It was unheard of for a woman to rescue damsels in distress. And it could leave multiple questions, rumors, and other bad effects to befall their kingdom.
Darling remembered how downcasted she was when she heard this. She was so sad that she couldn’t sleep and was barely able to focus on her homeschool studies. She was utterly devastated.
Until one day, the White family came to visit. Or rather, only the White siblings. Axel, Gale, and Apple White.
They visited a lot. Apple would always be with Daring because their parents made them, Dexter and Axel would hang out and read together discussing topics on their favorite books, and Gale would play outside.
It was mostly like that every time. Darling would sometimes hang out with Daring and Apple to talk and she would often read books with Dexter and Axel. but really, she would kind of feel out of place.
But one day, when she was reading a book of knights, Gale came to her, taking interest in the title and asked if Darling could help her with sparing. It caught her off guard, but eventually they became quick friends. And Gale always made sure she wasn’t left out and treated Darling like a little sister as she did with Apple.
Gale always encouraged her to follow her dreams. She was a role model to Darling. Which made her sad that the older girl left all those years ago.
But now, here she was. For the first time in years, she sees her role model again.
“Darling, are you alright?”
The maiden knight’s thoughts were interrupted by her girlfriend’s voice. She was staring for a long time.
Ginger couldn’t help but notice Darling’s gaze on the girl. Could it be someone the knight knew back then?
“Oh!” Darling realized, “Yeah, I can’t believe she’s actually back! She was my role model, you know.”
“Role model?”
Darling nodded, “She was the one to always help me train and encouraged my dream of being a knight. She was like a big sister to me.”
Ginger nodded in understanding. That made sense.
They both turned back to the screen, anticipating what was to be announced.
[A long time ago, my father was a desperate man hungry for power. He wanted control over everything so he made himself a lab rat for his own twisted experiments, causing himself to be one with the darkness. A darkness like no other, that spreads and corrupts others for his own personal gain. And manipulates one’s mind like a puppet.]
Lizzie watches from her room. Luckily for her, Duchess had left with her younger brother, giving her enough space to figure out what the ever loving hex was going on!
First, she wakes up in the morning to realize that there was something strange going on. As a future Queen of Hearts and someone from Wonderland, she picks these kinds of stuff. And wouldn’t you know it, she was right when she saw the big barrier outside, a very sign that something big was to happen soon approaching outside. Or perhaps something inside!
Then the sudden live Mirrorcast news with Blondie interviewing Headmaster Grimm and the infamous Abigale White she had heard of her and her twin brother from only a few royals, and was rather curious. But not much was said, as if uttering they’re names was something cursed. Which was ridiculous!
Lizzie stopped asking a long time ago, knowing she wasn’t getting anywhere even if she threatened them with “off with their heads!”. But now, she was getting her previous answers!
And there was a lot given from the comment section. And what was this about some darkness that Headmaster Grimm was talking about? Control people? Now that was utterly outrageous! And inconceivably and cruelly wrong!
She kept her eyes locked onto her Mirror phone, listening to every word.
Now, although she was from Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts, she should have predicted that here in Ever After High, it was just as chaotic.
[While he did this, me and my brother, Giles, went to multiple worlds together using Mirror Portals. With them, we created peace between these fascinating and wonderful worlds, making new friends. This development led us to create an alliance. A Council of Worlds]
Cupid gasped loudly, and then looked at her own Mirror portal sitting by her bed. The one her father lent to her. Remembering his words all those years ago.
~”Father? What is this Mirror for, anyway?”
“Oh, that? Was given to me by the headmaster at Ever After High. There were more of these things back in the day, except they weren’t modified by the gods. Was used for great good, until a threat happened. Now this one is the only one left. Protected at all costs.”
“Whatever happened?”
“That, my dear daughter, is a question best not worth looking into.”~
‘So that’s what they’re for! And the great secrecy, too!’ she thought loudly in her head. ‘Huh, a Council of Worlds… allies with people from multiple dimensions and universes…’
She wonders if Headmistress Bloodgood was a member.
Cupid keeps on watching, wanting to know more.
[We were happy. Until my father ruined it all by causing a war using corrupted people to do his dirty work. We barely managed. We won using a powerful weapon, but he was one step ahead and terminated the mirror portals for good. I had lost many people dear to me because of his selfishness. My sister, the love of my life, and my daughter and probably my grandchildren if I have to keep even more secrets.]
Cerise watches with her family in disbelief as they witness the crazy revelation interview on the Mirrorcast.
They were at the school of course. Her family came by yesterday for a visit secretly and now they’re here… in a barrier hiding in a locked classroom so that no one knows the big family secret. Cerise assumes the reason for the barrier because of some threat. Her bet is on the darkness that somehow exists. Though, the headmaster is still an ass for the whole destiny role ideal so it’s hard to trust him really. Yeah, not really looking in a good light there.
But when she saw the live news Blondie had made about the barrier which interviews Abigale White (What the fuck?! When did she exist?! She looks cool, not gonna lie) and Headmaster Grimm, it kinda contradicts a lot of stuff… she doesn’t know anymore.
“Big sis?”
Cerise looked over at her side to see her younger 12 year old brother, Rod, who was looking at her with worried eyes.
He had short messy dark brown hair and gray-blue eyes along with wolf ears on the side of his head. He wore a red jacket over his black shirt with a white wolf face on the front and pale shorts along with red shoes.
Cerise asked her brother, attentive with her words, “What is it?”
Rod looked at her with unsure hesitancy, “Are… are we gonna be alright?”
Cerise, knowing that she needed to ease the tension, ruffled her brother’s hair affectionately with a gentle smile, “Hey, I’m sure we’ll be fine. We’ve gone through worse in our lives.”
“But… What if you and the rest of the family got hurt?” he asked, almost having the urge to cry but wanted to toughen up so he held it in.
The hooded girl noticed this, “C’mon now. It’s okay to worry and cry. You don’t have to be a big boy right now. To me, you’ll always be my younger brother, no matter how old you’re getting. And I’m sure we’ll pull through. We’re strong after all!”
Rod always wanted to be stronger and older. The need to protect his whole family. Ever since he realized their complicated familial destiny history, the urge to take care of the family grew stronger. He would sometimes carry heavy objects to help out and get attentive with everyone so that he would make himself useful and feel older. Though, it can get a bit… out of hand.
Cerise didn’t want her brother to worry so much. Many and many times she had to come visit to make sure he was alright himself. It would sometimes work, but the unease and uncertainty is still there.
All because he fears something bad might happen to them all if word got out about Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf married having a family. And she was pretty sure it affected everyone just as much as it did to him, just taking it differently.
Good thing for Cerise, her words were able to calm him down to some extent as he smiled at the sentences of encouragement.
Unfortunately, the nice moment was then ruined by a crash and arguing coming from the other side. They both looked at where it came from and… they weren’t surprised at what they saw.
“Hey, give that back! It’s mine!”
“Sorry, sis! Finders keepers!”
Ramona was pulling the two smaller individuals away from each other, “I swear, if you two don’t stop fighting over chips then I’m gonna eat them myself!”
Two kids the age of 10 looked at their eldest sister, glaring at her to not interfere.
One of them was a girl with wolf ears and yellow eyes that had a short ponytail and a wolf hair clip on the side. She had a red hooded shirt with a lily in the front along with a white dirty skirt and red heeled shoes.
Her twin was a boy with yellow eyes and wolf ears who had messy black hair with a small ponytail on the side. He wore a black t-shirt that said, “Bad Boys” on the front and also a necklace that had a wolf pendant. He wore ripped peach shorts and red sneakers.
“Don’t get involved with this, Ramona.” said the girl, “This is between me and the ruffian!”
The boy looked offended, “Hey! That’s bad boy to you! And I’m not the one who has dirt on her clothes!”
“You made them dirty! Now give me back my chips!”
“No! They’re mine!”
“Mine!”
“Mine!”
Ramona, having enough of this useless bickering, took the chips away, opened them, and gobbled them up without trying to choke herself with how fast she was eating.
The twins looked at her with wide eyes.
When done, the eldest just gave them an unimpressed look, “Told you I’d eat them.”
And just like that, a full blown argument has erupted between the three. Cerise and Rod watch as the twins and their older sister discuss a ridiculous debate. The two of them sigh in tired exasperation.
Those two always do this. Though they came from the same womb, they were opposites through and through. Always “You made me dirty!” or “You’re too prissy!” and whatever stuff like that. No matter who was right, it never mattered and it kept going on like that on repeat.
Guess that’s how she was so used to the rebel and royal arguments.
As for their parents… they have their own issue:
“Ramona! Benson! Cass! Would you kids keep it down?!” said their father, Mr. Badwolf, who was checking under a desk looking for someone, “We’re trying to find your baby brother and we can’t focus on finding him and dealing with you three at the same time!”
Their mother, Red Riding Hood, wasn’t doing any better in finding her child as she searched further and further, worry stitched onto her expression the more harder it became.
Benson huffed and crossed his arms while looking at his dad, “That’s Badick to you! And Orion is only 2 years old! How far can a 2-year-old can go?”
They didn’t have to worry too much since they made sure the doors and the windows were sealed for precautions, much to their relief. The only problem is that Orion is a sneaky hider and loves to hide in all sorts of places. Perhaps the best of the best, especially considering he’s only 2. It’s a neat skill, but tiresome for his family.
Cass gave him an incredulous look of teasing amusement, “Is that seriously the best name you can think of? That was as bad as the last one!”
“It’s a work in progress! And don’t judge!”
“I’m just stating the honest truth!”
“Why you little-”
“Kids!” shouted the booming voice of their mother like an earthquake, cursing them to freeze in place a shrink under their mothers annoyed and furious gaze.
Cerise winced and gave her younger siblings a sorry expression. You don’t want to make a mother annoyed or mad. Especially in situations like these.
It was a long scolding. A very very big scolding. Ramona had even backed away from them to join Cerise and Rod, worried that she might be on the other end of her mother’s lecture because she was partially involved. Their father also seemed to have been distracted as well.
Cerise notices with her immense animal hearing a few tiny childish giggles behind her. She looked to her shoulder to see her baby brother giggling at the scolding interaction.
He had short messy dark brown hair and blue wide eyes. He wore a wolf onesie as he kept on giggling nonstop all because of his older sibling’s misfortune.
The hooded wolf teen often wonders if this was the devil’s incarnate for making this whole family worry like this. And giggle at all… this.
Sighing at the thought, she picked him up into her arms. Cerise made sure to keep her hold on her baby mischievous brother from her grasp so that he wouldn’t hide away again. Seeing his son in the arms of Cerise, Professor Badwolf gave a breath of relief along with Red who stopped to notice that her son was found. The twins sigh in relief as well, not only because Orion was found, but also that their mother stopped lecturing them.
With that, Cerise and the rest of the family looked at the screen to see the rest of the Mirrorcast.
[And now he’s back, coming to finish what he started. And coming this way. And the Rebellion, the ones working to stop it, are here to try and protect this school. And… I really do hope you’d all forgive me for all the issues I have caused you.]
Duchess and her brother, Duke, watched closely in the Castleteria. Their eyes glued onto the Mirrorphone screen. Their shock and disbelief kept growing more and more with each passing second the news continued.
For one, Abigale Fucking White was alive. Was here and alive. They knew she was really capable and all, but with her disappearance… people might think she could be alive… but…
And then there was the whole secret history that apparently, for some strange reason, no one talks about! There should be gossip! Articles! Previous news on the Mirrornet! But nothing! Not a hint of it! How?! There was no way everyone who witnessed this didn’t want to talk about it! Unless of course, their memories could have been erased. There was just no way! Right?
Right?!
And right now, she really wishes that she would talk to Poppy right now. She would always come to her about all of this. But for some reason, she wanted to stay in her and her sister’s shared dorm for a little longer. Something about a phone call? The swan was worried, but Poppy only told her that something big came up and she needed time to process. Respecting her girlfriend’s secrets, she left it as that.
Hey, she may do… questionable things like stalking people just for her own gain, but she has some level of boundaries.
“Hey, what do you think Gale has to say?” her brother asks.
In all honesty, she doesn’t know much about Gale. She didn’t really have much opinions on her other than wild at the time. But she was kind, even to her. She may have had many not so nice thoughts in the past, but she wouldn’t deny that Gale was someone of a good person.
“We’re about to find out.” Duchess remarked, as she watched the camera go to the fabled White daughter.
[Now,] said Blondie, turning the audience’s attention to Gale, [What connection do you have about all this? Everyone out there definitely wants to hear what you have to say. If you want to.]
Everyone, especially the royals of the school, were anticipating her answer. All was silent. Not a peep or even a cricket can say anything. It was dead silent.
With a deep and anxious breath, Gale bravely answered:
[Many of you know who I am. Abigale White. The brave and lively girl you royals have heard about. Was admired but also belittled. And the… the girl that disappeared along with her twin brother. You all must have a lot of comments and questions. Some curious, some not so nice.]
They all nodded to themselves. That was true.
[But I have my reasons for leaving. And this darkness… was the reason for that.]
What? That question must have summed it all up in their heads.
[My mother… Queen Snow White… you may not believe me but… she’s been infected by the darkness for years now. She’s trying to fight back but… I don’t think she can hold on much. And I’m… I’m scared about what might happen. I’m scared that I can’t get her back. That she’s too long gone.]
In a dark office, a woman looked out the window as the audio of the news Mirrorcast was playing from her Mirrorpad that stood beside an old photo of three of her children.
Regal in place. Perfect posture. Ethereal in pale beauty. And black as ebony.
Queen Snow White.
Though, unlike how she is shown in public, something off felt amiss with her. There was no glorious expression plastered on her face, but rather a dark and despairing, as if tired and guilty, layered all over her.
[I… for most of my life, something evil had been inside. She… I don’t even know who my mother is anymore. But I intend to do something, anything to get my actual mom back.]
A droplet. A trickle. Liquid formed in the woman’s eyes. It creeped and creeped out of the eye, and it trailed down the trail of the cheek slowly and slowly. Tears.
But these tears weren’t water. Rather black, you’d say. Ink. Inks of anguish.
Though dark and unnatural it was, they displayed true.
[And many, many people have been involved in all of this. Possible friends and family. That’s why me and my brother created a group. A Rebellion to protect those who can’t. People who would protect their loved ones. A way to protect those we love. And yeah, I’m too young to be able to do all this, but I had to do something.]
The teachers were huddled together, watching along with a few students as their shock and disbelief kept growing more and more with each word was said.
It all was too much. And… What could they do about it? Why them?
[And yeah, you all might have very big opinions about me. I won’t deny that I am not the princess many wanted me to be. But I am asking all of you right now, to aid and stand by my side.]
[I know I sound crazy here. But believe me when I say this, we all would be endangered if we don’t do something about it. The darkness has taken many people and you didn’t know it. And right now, the darkness has taken full control of the dangerous mafia and coming right now. You might possibly fight those you love. You might not make it. Hex, what if it goes downhill. You’d don’t want to do this at all.]
Faybelle clenched her fist. Hard that her fairy skin would turn white. She looked at the old picture in her other hand.
Gale was right about one thing. She didn’t want to do it. After what the White girl had said to her last night… she didn’t want anything to do with this.
… But… it would be inevitable to fly away. Especially since Briar might be involved. And she didn’t want her girlfriend to get hurt. If anything were to happen… she wouldn’t know what to do with herself.
Faybelle heaved her tired breath. She really really didn’t want to face her now, considering she didn’t… she didn’t think she’d ever see her again.
Drake (and annoyingly Theo) watched the Mirrorcast, listening intently to the words of their rebellion leader while on guard for anything unusual.
[I am only asking you to help. You don’t have to get involved. You can just take cover or escape it all. But let me convince you this, help protect your school, your kingdom, your home, all of Ever After! Because all of Ever After and its allies is where our friends are. Where our people live and thrive. Where our family takes care of their loved ones. Where our people look out for one another.]
Theo whistles, impressed, “That’s our leader!” he looked at the serious guy with him… and his dumb mouth said “You picked the person. If she wasn’t taken and all that, I would’ve dated her.”
Drake gave him a warning glare, as if Theo was trying to take something precious, “And what does that imply, exactly?”
Knowing that he stepped on the wrong foot of the conversation, he nervously gave out his honest response, “Well, I’m just saying. If I wasn’t already into Harry, then perhaps… Well, I don’t know, maybe I would’ve liked to date anyone else. Heck, I did say your brother was cute the first time we met.”
If Theo wasn’t an ally, the knight would’ve punched him in the face at this very moment. So to ignore whatever the thief had just said, Drake went back to watching.
It was a good thing his lover was an amazing and wonderful emotional speaker that he forgot what was said and smiled lovingly at the nervous but brave girl.
[We have to stand. Side by side. To protect our home. Because if not, then what would happen once the first strike happens. If I don’t, then… I don’t know what to do with myself if… I don’t uphold my promise to protect others. To protect those my friends truly care about]
Holly’s bore deep onto the screen, listening to every word. She should have met with shock at all these revelations. Either flabbergasted that the Abigale White or that danger was marching towards their school. But she didn’t.
Not after what Gale had said to her and Poppy last night on the phone.
Speaking of her sister, the younger twin turned her head to see her clutching onto a framed photo, dazed… nostalgic at the same time, as if memories were shown like a television in the picture.
“Hey, sis?” Holly asked, worried… sad at the same time, “I know last night was… a lot, but once all this nonsense is over, we can go see him again.”
Poppy kept looking at the photo. She heard what her sister said… but what was said and… and that he was alive. It felt like last night was some sort of fever dream. And she didn’t think… she didn’t think there was a possibility that… she thought it was hopeless and now…
“Are we sure it’s him?” she asked, hopeful but somewhat still unsure at the same time. She didn’t want her hopes up.
Holly knew it was hard. Like her twin, she was feeling the exact same thing. When they got the unexpected news that… he was out there. It was like a mixed bag full of emotions, “Who else would know about his secret geniusness other than to people he trusts?”
The hair stylist nodded at that. That was true, given how he wanted to wait for the right moment to show his creations. Though, guess he did now… just not what he had expected.
But that means… it is real and… she missed him. They both do.
Holly gave her sister a side hug in comfort. They stuck to each other for so long. And no matter what, they always had each other’s back.
It was the three of them… then just two… and soon…
“I miss him…”
“Me too, sis. Me too.”
They looked at the photo, only listening to Gale’s speech as nothing could pull them away from their beloved moment on frame.
The photo of good fun times. With just the twins and their older brother.
As the mercenaries, thugs, and practically every dangerous criminal that Blue could offer were marching like army men with guns caught in red and nasty crimes were in hand, Blue watched the irritating Mirrorcast being played with… unnatural hatred.
[I don’t know what will happen, but I will stop this darkness. To protect those I care about. With their men of shadows coming, I’ll make sure they won’t succeed. I won’t stand to watch my home be taken by the hands of misery. With my last breath, like a noble knight I once dreamed I’d be, I’d make sure to protect my home with all I got.]
Blue scoffed at Gale’s encouraging speech to the audience, her completely black eye with blue irises twitching. With each word the rebellion leader uttered with that mouth of hers, the more she wanted to kill her.
Every. Single. Inch. Of her being wanted death upon the girl in blonde.
She wanted to chuck her phone to the far off oblivion.
In another time, they were good friends… and then they were… something. That was the best she could say. It lasted for a while. Then it didn’t.
When it felt it with her… it was good. Gale was a good person at heart. She never knew why she stuck around someone like Blue but… she did. She was there for her.
Until she made her choice. And ruined her life. Ruined everything.
“Now now, Blue,” the man on her left said, walking casually as if nothing was wrong, “Save all that anger for later. You’ll get your revenge.”
“You promise?” That was the deal, after all. What he also offered.
He grinned. Just plain malicious with hunger. For something. “A deal is a deal. Right?”
Blue watched ahead of her. In the distance, miles and miles, you could see Ever After High.
Blue clenched her fist, and the mark on her neck was moving. As if ink was moving around in raging anger, trying to spread.
[I know you all are afraid. And… I am too. So much so. But if we let fear, misery, and everything bad happen in our lives, then we can’t have the chance to overcome and grow. Make our own choices. Have the life we can want. Because it’s our destiny. Our life. Our legacy that we are creating. As we stand together, I believe we can write our own story. You can either stand away from the danger. Or join the Rebellion to protect the things that matter most. No matter what it takes, I’ll make sure we get a better story for all of us. A new legacy.]
