Blurry Nights, Clear Love

Summary:

Chenford Tim forgets he’s engaged to Lucy at his own bachelor party; chaos ensues

Notes:

This is connected to the last one I wrote (where Lucy gets drunk). I thought it would be funny to do a Tim version!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Be careful tonight.” Lucy says giving Tim a kiss on the cheek. “Don’t drink too much.” Tim rolls his eyes a little and brings her closer. He was being forced to have this bachelor party in the first place. After Lucy’s bachelorette, Angela decided that Tim needed one of his own and she planned it along with Wesley, James, Grey, Aaron and Nolan.

“Do I have to go?” He asks Lucy holding onto her instead of pulling away. “I’m being forced against my will to do this.”

Lucy rolls her eyes and detangles herself from him. She places a soft kiss to his lips and then points to the door. “Go Tim. Have fun. This will be the last time you get married after all right?” Tim blows out a breath but nods. He presses a kiss to her forehead and then opens the front door.

This was the last time he was going to get married, Lucy was his forever—and maybe having a little fun wouldn’t hurt him.

Two hours later and god knows how many drinks in, Tim is sitting at the table with his friends wondering how he got here.

“I miss Lucy.” Tim says slamming his beer on the table. “She’s so pretty.” Wesley gives him an amused look.

“Well that’s good—”

“I mean she’s so good too. Like such an incredible person. Whoever marries her is the luckiest guy on earth.”

Wesley tilts his head at him, and Tim takes another sip of his beer and sighs loudly. How did he have it so good with Lucy? How did he just let it all go?

“I’m an idiot.” He says taking another sip of his beer, his head feeling fuzzy. “How could I just let her go?”

“Are we talking about Lucy?” Nolan asks and Tim looks at him with narrowed eyes. He knows Nolan and Lucy dated once upon a time and Nolan had let her go too. Lord knows how he actually got her but that wasn’t the point. Lucy had told him in a drunken stupor, and he tried to  get it out of his head. And he was successful. Until now apparently.

“You are an idiot too!” He says glaring at Nolan. “You had the best person in the world and you let her go.”

“Well Lucy and I—” Nolan begins sinking back into his seat. “We are better as friends.” Tim scoffs at him. Friends. That’s all Tim would be with Lucy, and it kills him to even think about it.

He had her and he let her go.

He was so stupid.

He looks around the table and all the men are wearing amused expressions on their faces. Tim lets his head drop to the table and he sighs loudly.

“How did I mess up so badly?” He groans. He sees Wesley and James exchange a look and then Aaron speaks up.

“I mean she did forgive you.” Aaron says. Tim lifts his head a little to look at him.

“But at what cost? To be friends?” He says mournfully.

“She is marrying—” Aaron says and Tim lifts his head more his heart breaking in two.

“She’s getting married?” He asks and god what is wrong with him?

“Yes. This is your—”

“Funeral?” Tim asks drily. Aaron huffs out a laugh and Grey rolls his eyes to the ceiling. Tim sighs and puts his head down on the table. He really did lose his chance after all.

It’s silent for a few minutes and Tim is vaguely aware of Nolan talking to someone. He reaches for his beer and takes a sip.

He hears the low mummers of his friends talking but he doesn’t really hear them, he just stares at the table for probably too long.

After awhile (he’s not actually sure how much time has passed) he looks around the bar, his heart nearly stopping when he sees Lucy coming towards him with a soft smile on her face.

He sits up straight, and watches as she approaches the table. “Hi.” She says softly. He scans her up and down and then his eyes land on the engagement ring on her finger.

“Your fiancé is a lucky guy.” He mutters. Lucy huffs out a laugh and then sits down next to him, her thigh touching his.

“I agree.” She says reaching out to touch his face. “He is.” Tim frowns at her and puts his hand on hers and then takes his off his cheek.

“What are you doing here?” He asks dully. “Don’t you have a wedding to plan?” Lucy laughs again  and this time takes his hands in hers.

“I do.” She says. “But it’s kind of hard to do when my fiancé doesn’t remember we are getting married.”

“He sounds like an ass.” Tim mutters. “It’s not Sanford is it?” Lucy’s eyes widen and she looks around the table. Tim sees her look at Nolan and Grey who both look amused more than anything.

“God no.” Lucy says. Tim frowns at her, and looks down at her holding his hands and he feels her engagement ring against his palm.

“But you are getting married right?” Tim asks.

“I am.” She says a smile playing on her lips. “In ten days actually.”

“Oh.” He says his heart sinking lower. “That’s nice.” Lucy nods her head and then presses a soft kiss to his forehead.

He swallows hard and looks up at her. “Why did you do that?” He asks sounding confused. Because he was confused and drunk.

“Because I love you and you are drunk.” She says. She stands up and pulls him up with her.

“But you are getting married!” He protests. “How can you love me?” Lucy shakes her head a little and she looks amused too.

“I’m marrying you.” She says. “This is your bachelor party baby.” She pulls him away from the table but he remains in place.

“I’m marrying you?” He asks sounding flabbergasted. His brain is already fuzzy and he’s not sure he can process this information right now.

“Yes.” Lucy says sounding amused. “We are getting married in 10 days.”

“You are Lucy?” He asks. Lucy gives him a amused look.

“I am.”

“I’m Tim.”

“Yes. You are.” She confirms. Tim’s mouth falls open and he glances back at the table.

“Why didn’t you tell me!” He says then looking around at all of them giving them his best glare. “You let me be sad.”

“We tried.” Wesley tells him. “But honestly we wanted to see how long it would go on.” Lucy rolls her eyes and holds on to Tim.

“Thank you.” She says to the table and they all grin at her. “I’m going to take him home now.” She pulls him away from the table, holding on to him tightly. They reach the door and she pulls him outside.

“I can’t believe we are going to get married.” He muses looking down at her. She laughs and pulls him down for a kiss.

“I know.”

She tugs on his hand and pulls him towards her car. She pauses and opens the door, looking at him.

He still can’t believe he’s getting married to Lucy, even if his brain hasn’t quite caught up to that fact yet.  He really is the luckiest guy on the planet.

He slides in the passenger seat and Lucy leans down to give him one more kiss before she’s shutting the door.

She climbs in the driver’s seat and looks over at him. He closes his eyes and leans back in the seat.

“I can’t believe you dated Nolan.”

“Oh shut up! I’m marrying you aren’t I?” She says. He smiles and he feels a warm tingling feeling wash over him. He’s not sure if it’s from the alcohol or the fact that he’s marrying Lucy but it’s a feeling he hopes never goes away.

Tim opens his eyes and groans as the sunlight shines in on him. He blinks once and then turns to see Lucy watching him closely.

“Good morning.” She says softly. “How do you feel?”

“Awful.” He says. “Why did you let me go to a bachelor party?”

“It was your bachelor party baby.” Lucy says. “You couldn’t remember that we were getting married last night.” Tim rubs at his forehead and groans covering his eyes with his hands.

“It’s all fuzzy.” He admits and he knows he drank a lot but how could he forget that he was getting married to Lucy?

“You forgot that.” Lucy says scooting closer to him. She lays her head on his chest, and looks up at him with a mischievous look in her eyes. “But—”

“What?” He asks curiously because his brain is still a little fuzzy from last night, he remembers bits and pieces but not everything.

“You apparently didn’t forgot I dated Nolan and gave him a hard time.” Lucy says. She lays her hand on his chest.

Tim groans loudly. “Don’t remind me of that please.” He says. Lucy laughs and removes his hands from his face, lacing her fingers with his.

“I’m sorry baby.” She says. “Wesley said you were so sad when you thought I was marrying someone else.”

Tim scowls at her. “I wasn’t  thinking straight.” He mutters. She laughs and rolls over so she’s on top of him.

“You weren’t thinking at all.” She says kissing him and then gazing down at him with nothing but love in her eyes. He sighs bringing his hand up to cup her face.

“I love you.” He says softly. Lucy smiles at him, her eyes searching his face and then they go to his lips.

“I love you too Tim.” She says. “Even when you forget me.” Tim scoffs at her a little aghast she would say such a thing.

As if he could ever forget Lucy. He may have been drunk but—

“I didn’t forget you.” He says. “I was just pining for you.” Lucy giggles and god he can’t believe he gets this for the rest of his life.

“Well pining and your temporary amnesia aside. Did you have fun?” She asks. He nods his head and then pulls her closer and kisses the top of her head.

“Yes.” He says and he appreciates he has friends who wanted to do this with him. But at the end of the day, he would much rather be with Lucy at home. “But I would much rather be here with you.”

Lucy laughs and kisses him in the nose. “Me too.” She says and he wraps his arms around her back moving her off of him and tucking her into his side.

“Nine days until you are stuck with me forever.” She mutters. He kisses the top of her head, and breathes her in for a moment.

“That sounds pretty great to me.” He says and she laughs and he relishes it and he wants to live in this moment forever.

Because there’s no place he would rather be than right here.
