In the garden

Summary:

Lucifer is bit by a snake.

Work Text:

It was a bright, sunny day on the playground, and the sound of children's laughter filled the air. Lucifer, a young boy with a mischievous glint in his eyes, was playing hide and seek with his best friend, Gertie. They loved this game, especially on days like today when the weather was perfect, and the whole playground seemed like their personal kingdom. Lucifer peeked out from behind the slide, watching as Gertie counted loudly to twenty. He giggled softly, thinking about the perfect hiding spot he had in mind.

Just as Gertie shouted, "Ready or not, here I come!" Lucifer dashed towards the large tree at the playground's edge, his favorite hiding place.

Gertie started her search, using the heightened senses of her werewolf form to gain an advantage. She sniffed the air and listened intently for any signs of Lucifer's presence. However, there was a slight hiccup in her plan - Lucifer had a scent similar to that of a werewolf, and she kept ending up near Daisy, their half-werewolf friend. She checked behind the swings and the merry-go-round but found no sign of Lucifer.

Meanwhile, Lucifer crouched behind the tree, trying to stifle his giggles. Without warning, a sharp, burning sensation pierced through his ankle like a hot knife. Startled, Lucifer's eyes snapped downward to see a sleek, copper-colored snake slithering away from him. Its venomous bite had left two minor puncture wounds on his skin, and already, the pain was spreading through his body like wildfire. Panic surged through him as he tried to shake off the snake's attack, but the venom had taken hold and was slowly coursing through his veins.

Gertie, who had reached the tree, noticed Lucifer's State of distress and called out, "Lucifer! Are you okay?" she walked towards him, concern etched on her face.

Lucifer was gasping for air, his eyes wide with terror. "Gertie, get a teacher," he begged.

Gertie didn't hesitate for a second and ran towards the nearest teacher, shouting for help. The teacher quickly rushed over to where Lucifer was holding his ankle, his breathing becoming more labored by the second.

"Stay with me, Lucifer," the teacher said pulling out his cellphone and calling emergency services, his voice calm but urgent.

Lucifer's head spun, causing his surroundings to blur and fade into darkness. The world spun around him, disorienting and unsettling. He could feel his grip on consciousness slipping away as the edges of his vision turned hazy and indistinct. In only a few seconds, everything went black.

Sam glanced at the computer screen at local amusement parks. DJ's first birthday was right around the corner, and he needed to plan something fun to do. An amusement park seemed like a good idea. Lucifer loved going to them, so it would be fun for both kids. It would be a day with a lot of walking, but Eileen was starting to feel better, and maybe getting out would do her some good. Having a belly full of baby wouldn't stop her from having fun with her boys.

Sam reached over and grabbed his phone, checking his text for the hundredth time that day. He was anxiously waiting to hear from Dean and Mary about their search for Marie in New York. Just as he glanced at his phone, it began to ring. The name of Lucifer's school flashed on the screen. Without hesitation, Sam answered the call.

"Hello?" he said, his voice tinged with concern.

"Mr. Winchester, this is Principal Taylor. There's been an incident with your son, Lucifer," the principal said, her voice strained with worry.

Sam's heart dropped into his stomach. "What happened? Is he okay?"

"Lucifer was bitten by a snake on the playground. He's been rushed to the hospital. I gave the hospital your contact information, so they might also contact you," the principal explained.

"Thank you for calling me," Sam said before hanging up the phone. He slammed his laptop shut and jumped to his feet. Sam needed to get Eileen, and they needed to get to Luci.

The sterile hospital room was alive with frenzied activity as Lucifer lay on the bed, his chest rising and falling in shallow, labored breaths. Beeping machines and urgent voices filled the space, drowning out any sense of calm. The doctors had injected him with the life-saving anti-venom, but in a cruel twist of fate, Lucifer's body reacted violently. His skin was flushed and mottled with hives, his throat constricting against the treatment meant to save him. It was a battle between life and death, fought within the confines of that stark white room. And all Lucifer could do was lie there and wait for the outcome, feeling like a pawn in some cosmic game of chance.

"He's having a severe allergic reaction," one of the doctors said urgently. "We need to stabilize him, now!"

Lucifer's face was flushed, his eyes fluttering open and closed as he struggled to stay conscious. He tried to focus on the doctors and nurses standing over him, but the room seemed to spin around him. Suddenly, it all stopped. Everything around him froze.

"Hey there, kid," Lucifer turned his head to see Gabriel standing beside him. "Have a little run-in with a snake?"

"I'm gonna die," he whimpered.

"No, you're not," the angel placed a hand on his head. "You just need a little help."

Gabriel's touch brought a sense of calm to Lucifer, the overwhelming fear fading into a glimmer of hope. "But I feel so...so sick," Luci managed to croak out, his voice barely above a whisper. The room had fallen eerily silent, the medical staff frozen in place, unaware of Gabriel's presence.

The angel smiled gently at Lucifer, his hazel eyes warm and reassuring. "You're going to be okay, Luci. Trust me," Gabriel said, his voice filled with unwavering certainty. With a wave of his hand, a soft golden light originated from his palm, enveloping Lucifer in a comforting warmth.

Lucifer felt the pain and discomfort ebbing away as the light touched him, replaced by a soothing sensation that spread through his body like a healing balm. "Thank you, Gab."

"No problem," he lifted his hand. "Take it easy, kiddo. I'll be over to visit soon."

In a flash, Gabriel disappeared, and the room sprang back to life. The medical team worked quickly to stabilize Lucifer, their movements a blur of efficiency and urgency. Slowly but surely, Luci's vitals began to stabilize, his breathing evening out. The doctors exchanged amazed looks as if they couldn't quite understand how the sudden turn of events had occurred. For Lucifer, it was clear that Gabriel's intervention had been nothing short of miraculous.

"My name is Dr.Harrington. How are you feeling?" A doctor asked, shining a pen light in his eyes.

"Better," Luci mumbled, tired from all the drugs that had been pumped into his system. "An angel saved me."

"An angel?" Dr.Harrington questioned, looking over the child's vitals.

"Yep," the little one yawned. "Gabriel."

"Well, it's nice to know you have someone looking out for you," the doctor said. "You took a scary turn there for a minute."

"Are my parents here?" Lucifer asked, looking up at the doctor through half-opened eyes.

"Yes," Dr.Harrington opened a cabinet to retrieve a plush tiger. He handed the toy to the child. "Why doesn't Mr. Tiger keep you company while I get your parents?"

"That sounds nice," Luci wrapped his arms around the tiger and pulled it in close.

Dr.Harrington patted the child on the shoulder before leaving the room.

Raphael didn't know what to do, but she knew she couldn't stay in New York. She needed to get out and take David with her. She loaded him into her car and took off.

The angel wasn't afraid of facing Sam and Dean. She could handle anything they could dish out. It was David she was worried about. He was a small child, and she doubted the pair would slaughter an innocent child, but David could get caught in the middle. Despite Raph's harsh nature she didn't want anything bad to happen to the child, her child.

"Mommy car," David commented from the backseat.

"Yes," Raph nodded. "We're in the car. We're going on a road trip."

"Vroom!" the child said, holding up a toy car. "Car vroom."

Raphael focused her eyes on the dark road in front of her. The chaos and danger surrounding them urged her to quickly find a safe haven for David.

Dean's jaw dropped as he laid eyes on the motorcoach before him. Its sleek, silver exterior gleamed in the sun, every inch perfectly polished. He could see his own reflection in the smooth surface. High above, the roof boasted a line of subtle solar panels, barely noticeable but crucial for the coach's eco-friendly features. They added a touch of futuristic charm to the already impressive vehicle. It was, without a doubt, the fanciest and most advanced thing Dean had ever laid eyes on.

The door opened, and a worried-looking Summer walked out, holding baby Jess. "Hello, I'm Marie's wife, Summer."

"Dean Winchester," Dean said, extending his hand with a warm smile. "This is my mother, Mary."

"Nice to meet you," Mary said with a nod, her eyes flicking towards the motorcoach. "Impressive ride you've got here."

"Marie loves this thing," Summer sighed. "It's a bit fancy for me."

Dean chuckled, his eyes wandering over the motorcoach once more. "Well, Marie's got good taste, that's for sure. This thing's a beauty."

Summer smiled weakly before her expression turned serious. "I assume you're here about Marie. Have you found anything yet?"

Dean's smile faltered as he shook his head. "Not yet, but we're working on it. Mind if we come in and try to figure out a plan?"

"Of course, please come in," Summer said, stepping aside to let Dean and Mary enter the motorcoach.

Inside, the soft, ambient glow of recessed LED lights bathed the luxurious interior in a warm, inviting hue. Plush leather seats, adjustable and designed for maximum comfort, filled the spacious cabin. Combining high-tech displays and classic controls, the dashboard seamlessly integrated old-world charm and cutting-edge technology.

The interior was just as impressive as the outside, with modern furnishings and high-tech gadgets adorning the spacious living area. Dean couldn't help but feel a pang of envy at the luxury surrounding him, a stark contrast to his life on the road in the Impala and dirty motel rooms.

"I'm sorry to be blunt, but how in the world can you afford this?" Mary asked, sitting down on the couch. "Hunting doesn't really pay well."

"It usually doesn't pay anything," Dean said with a snort.

"I'm a private tutor online," Summer explained. "But Marie pays for most things."

"What does she do for work?" Dean questioned.

"Nothing," Summer frowned as the words left her lips. "But she always seems to have money. She always told me that she came into money a few years ago, but I never pushed her on it. I mean, we all have our secrets."

Mary nodded in agreement. "I suppose that's true."

"Let's just worry about getting Marie home," Dean knew they needed to focus on helping Marie. "We need to form a plan."

Summer's arms tightened around baby Jess, holding her tiny form close to her chest. The child's weight felt like a precious burden, a reminder of what she needed to do. Her heart raced with fear and determination as she vowed to do whatever it took to bring Marie home safely.

Sam couldn't believe what he was seeing. Lucifer was curled up in a hospital bed, hooked up to several machines. His little boy was covered in a nasty rash. Despite all the treatment, Luci's breath was still a bit labored.

Eileen felt tears fill her eyes. "Hey, baby," she said, sitting down at the bedside. She reached out and gently brushed a lock of Lucifer's hair away from his face. The boy's eyes fluttered open, and Eileen could see his fear and confusion.

"A snake bit me," Luci explained, even though he was sure his parents knew what had happened.

"I know," Sam sat down next to his wife. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired," the child yawned. "And a little itchy, but I'm okay, okay. I saw Gabriel. He helped me."

"Gabriel?" Eileen repeated, her eyes widening. "Well, we'll have to remember to thank him."

Lucifer nodded, snuggling closer to the tiger plush in his arms. He felt a strange comfort from the simple toy. Eileen's hand gently squeezed his, offering quiet strength and reassurance.

"Well, we know that there's a group of angels looking out for you," Sam said, trying to lighten the mood. "Get some sleep, hun. You need the rest."

Lucifer gave a slow nod, a wide yawn escaping his lips, before finally closing his eyes with a gentle sigh. Eileen's heart swelled with a mix of tenderness and relief as she gazed at her son, who lay nestled under crisp white sheets in the hospital bed. The soft beeping of the monitors created a rhythmic backdrop to the stillness while the faint scent of antiseptic lingered in the air. She watched as his chest rose and fell steadily, each breath a confirmation of his peace. In that moment, all the worry and tension ebbed away, leaving only gratitude for this brief respite from their worries.
