Chapter Text
Epilogue
Eijirou had never been happier in his life . He’d thought he was happy on the mountain, and flying over his territory. He’d thought the first time he managed to breathe fire, and then again when he managed the fire-tricks that meant he had earned his majority as a member of the succession.
That was pish-posh. It was nothing. Now Eijirou was happy; happier that he thought a being could even be .
The wedding celebrations went on for three weeks, and when the Bride and Groom emerged to celebrate with the others on some days, the cheers and even more alcohol. Katsuki had stuck to Eijirou like a burr, unable to be more than a few steps away from him at all times. Eijirou had to admit that he loved it, unable to get enough of the fact that his husband was just as possessive of him as any new dragon mate would be.
It made it all the more thrilling when Eijirou dragged him back into their bedroom. Sometimes he got to take Katsuki as his Bride, and those times were just so amazing. He got to make Katsuki scream again, several times, and his beautiful, beautiful mate was covered in marks and bruises that he’d left there. And Katsuki showed them off . Eijirou could feel his chest puff out when he saw his mate walk around bare-chested, his mating marks on full display on both shoulders like pouldrons, random bites around his chest and scratches down his back worn like honour notes.
He couldn’t help feeling smug every time Tetsu elbowed him and wiggled his ample eyebrows at him. He got asked for details a couple of times, and while he’d started sharing in his excitement to talk about how amazing his mate was in bed, he’d soon gotten too jealous to continue; he didn’t want anyone to know what Katsuki looked like in those moments. He didn’t want them to know how red he got when he was getting close to his climax, or how slowly he blinked after. He didn’t want anyone to know that Katsuki adored skinship in bed, whether they were being sexual or not, and how much Eijirou could make him do by simply running talons up his back gently.
Eijirou was living in happiness. Looking at Katsuki across the room, having been cornered by his mother and the Ogg elder, as well as Eijirou’s own mother, where they were all once again cooing at his mating marks, Eijirou knew Katsuki was too.
By the looks of it, he wasn’t going to be the only one for very long. Eijirou looked across at Denki, lost in whatever Jirou was saying, only stopping her to occasionally to gently butt his forehead against hers. And if he was absolutely stretching it, he had an inkling his brother may have a thing for a certain redhead .
Which, funny. So, so funny. He wondered what conniption the Elders would have, and how Torino was going to wallop the heck out of all of them. Eijirou had lost his place in the inheritance, he knew that, and frankly … he didn’t think he wanted it back. He had found his place– right here, in this beautiful valley that was turning greener and greener as the days passed, that smelt like water and mulch and new life, with his absolutely fantastic mate by his side.
Eijour was happy. And when Katsuki came to sit beside him, handing him food and a kiss - and another and another, like he could stop himself as much as Eijirou could stop him - that truth sank all the way into his bones.
Their Lovers were back. Their histories were wrong, and now here they were. He knew he was going to be loved by his new people. He absolutely knew he was going to love any new life he and his mate brought into the new, freshly-smelling world.
Eijirou loved, and was loved. He knew Katsuki was happy, he knew his people were happy, and that even the more irritated and cautious of his people would be coming down the mountain soon. He’d been terrified when he’d been called into the hall when Katsuki had first come up that mountain. He’d been frightened but determined when he had volunteered so none of his clutch-mates would have to be banished. He’d be sad and hurt and confused during the first weeks of knowing his mate, until they truly learned how to speak each other’s languages.
But now? Eijirou was happy.
