How soothing the rain is

Work Text:

The rain was always a pleasure to feel on his scales, especially when they were getting dried out.

He looked out of the caves entrance almost longingly. He glanced at the furry ape a ways away from him and huffed. His eyes trailed down the others body until they landed on some claw marks on Kong's side, he frowned. Why was he like this?

Why couldn't he control his anger like the other in the cave could? He wasn't a wild beast, so why must he act like one?

The fight was the reason the ape was away from Godzilla. Godzilla was lucky Kong even slept in the same proximity as him. He had attacked him for close to no reason.

If only he could control his anger.

He glanced at the ground again before looking at the cave's entrance. He decided to get up, stretching slightly as got up and walked out of the cave to lay in the rain, trying his best to keep his steps light as to not wake the other, but he knew it was pointless, the other was a light sleeper and his steps were always heavy, no matter what he tried.

He found a nice cool area in some grass and laid down, moving his head to rest on his claws. He soaked up the rain, loving the feel of it on his drying scales.

He felt a gaze on him, and glanced at the cave, seeing the furry Kaiju watching him from outside the entrance. Kong's gaze was weary yet defensive. As he approached the god like one, Godzilla unfurled a bit, making room in hopes of the other cuddling up to him. He missed the softness of Kong's fur, of that hand scratching his scales.

Kong sat some distance away from him, much to Godzilla's dismay. He huffed, he has to apologize, that was what the other was waiting on.

"My apologies, it was never my intention to harm you, I suppose my anger got the better of me." His tone was apologetic and Kong just gave him a smile. Kong was far too nice for what he has gone through.

He reminded him of Mothra.

"Fine. Shouldn't of growled." Kong said in response, his speech broken. The disadvantage uf growing up without other Kaiju around to teach him the mother tongue of titans.

To teach him anything really.

Kong was naturally codependent, it was clear to Godzilla, yet, he was pretty sure the other didn't know it himself.

However, the fluffy Kaiju had been forced to be independent, growing up at that island couldn't have been the greatest, Godzilla felt bad for him in a way.

"Yes, you shouldn't have." He said, perhaps a bit stern for the one who was in the wrong. He had made Kong feel threatened, he had a right to growl, but Godzilla would never admit that. Kong gave him one of those disappointed frowns a father would give a misbehaving child. Already playing into a father like role because of the young ape... Seko? Suno? Suko. That's right, his name was Suko.

Godzilla was silent for a while and Kong got increasingly annoyed with him. "I apologize, that was rude." Kong simply huffed in response to Godzilla's apology. However, despite his annoyance, Kong move closer and leaned against Godzilla, and Godzilla immediately curled around him and put his head in his lap. Kong patted hum before moving his hands behind his head and closing his eyes.

Godzilla watched as rain droplets drenched the others beautiful fur.

About five minutes in and Kong had dragged Godzilla back into the cave, mumbling something about not liking thunder storms.
